      ZneR_25 That’s great! How exciting for you 😊 you will love it! It’s so lovely out in GP land. Just read up on; hypertension, diabetes, asthma/ COPD, baby immunisations, travel vaccines and wound care mainly 😊 you’ll be fine! Let me know how your first day goes

      Claire Carmichael I think one of the hardest today was knowing all these drugs and knowing their contraindications. Any recommendations on what drugs or drug groups I should focus on first?

    • @ClaireCarmichael
      @ClaireCarmichael  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ZneR_25 mainly hypertension ones (amlodipine and ramapril was a common one at my surgery). That’s the biggest one I found. Then insulin and metformin for diabetes. Salbutamol and seretide Inhalers for asthma. Your doctor should be lovely and help tho too 😊 I went to my doctor if I was in doubt of anything. Then wound care is whatever you have in your cupboard 🤣 algnate dressings are the best for a good sloughy wound. But there’s a whole section of wound dressing in the BNF which you can get the app on your phone 😊 that helps! X

    Hello Claire.
    I am going back on all your videos. Apologies for comments on old vlogs.
    As I was watching this one, you said you used the Doppler and checked for sensation in a persons feet. I was just wandering, as I am about to start podiatry in September (oh I got in) have you worked with podiatrists? In your practice? I am guessing you have seen a ton of referrals made!
    Do you have an in house podiatrist or visiting?
    Lots of questions.... sorry!
    Just mega interested.
    All the loves xxx

    • @ClaireCarmichael
      @ClaireCarmichael  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! Aw that’s ok :) hope they help in some way haha. CONGRATS!!! 🥳🥳🥳
      We refer into the podiatrist, we don’t have one on site sadly. This would be so useful! They have their own clinic elsewhere or do home visits :) hope that helps lol. Ask away! Haha.
      Big loves to you! Xx

      @@ClaireCarmichael it really would be perfect to have on site professional at a gp practice.... wishful thinking hehe xx
      Awww thanks so much for answering my questions... I am now, trying to navigate student finance 🙈 studying the human foot and lower limb and and learning to drive by September! I don’t make it easy but after I watch your vlogs - I always think - let’s go smash it!!!! Lol 😆 xxx
      Great motivation!!! X

    How long does it take to be Practice Nurse?

    • @ClaireCarmichael
      @ClaireCarmichael  ปีที่แล้ว

      For the training you mean? :)
      You can go straight into practice nursing as a newly qualified nurse. Then you can do a practice nurse course which is 12months long to train you in all the extra skills needed to become a fully qualified practice nurse :)
      Although some GP’s will do on the job training bit by bit instead of a course. Just depends on the practice and area you go to and what they do x

    Amazing video, what qualifications do you need to be a GP nurse?? 🙏🏻🙏🏻

    • @ClaireCarmichael
      @ClaireCarmichael  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Olajumoke Emiloju You can go into GP as a newly qualified nurse. That’s what I did. Then they will train you up in the extra skills you need. I was due to go on the course for it next month but it has all been postponed for now with COVID 😅
