Just awesome. I have a 1990 Red/White/Blue RD04 that has sat in a stable since 2005 …. Having recently come across your channel and binge watched it, the next job in my life is to dig out the old girl, get her into the garage, and crack on with making up for lost time. Always was a lovely handling bike and brought a smile to my face, even if I could only dream of knowing how to handle it off road here in the UK.
Andy if ever you pass on through the UK on the iron horse I bet there’s plenty of us on here that’ll love to meet you I’m currently after a war horse of my own to create my own quest so be nice to share the love after all you convinced me to get a ktm 250xc after you shredded one few years back and that bike ripped my arms off. Keep up the great work your an inspiration to us all :)
I was off-roading a VFR1200X. I turn 60 this year, so that was starting to take a toll. Every lay down in the dirt finishes with a slipped disc. Watched your War Horse and was bummed out that Honda didn’t sell the original AT here. Not interested in a new AT. Then a mate said he was selling his RD07A, 2003. It was one of those whims where he had a buyer and I said if it falls through I’ll have it. 30 min later he said it was mine. I flew to Sunshine Coast from Canberra and rode it back. 5kms in the battery was dead. An inauspicious start. Got it running and set the idle high and didn’t stop until I was close to a new battery. Then sat in the saddle for 10 hours straight, stops for fuel only. It’s pretty mint for a 21 year old. I’ve started collecting parts and fixing all the little things. Can’t wait for the first big trip. You’re spot on, there’s just something about them. Compared to the newer bikes it feels very familiar. Straight away, like I’d owned it for decades. It’s no power house, but it does everything I need it to do and it fits like a glove.
I am 27 and found my forever motorcycle. It's a 2006 Honda Unicorn 150. I used to have a Honda CBR250r and a Kawasaki ninja 300 but out of two I had a special bond with the 150cc champ. It might be under powered compared to two of them. But somehow the unicorn gives the most pleasurable rides. Later I did some mods to take on for the longer rides. It did very well ❣️. Just like you I found out one is not enough so I bought another one for spares but it's currently under restoration😅. Africa twin is always a dream motorcycle for me. I was always looking for the touring video of Africa twin on TH-cam, that's how I end up watching your channel, your contents really set the foundation for my goal to buy a Africa twin. Because I am from India , I can't get one here coz there ain't any older Africa twin sold here. Even if I manage to find one it will be damn expensive due to its rarity. I love your content. Looking forward to more of it.❤❤
Sorry about the spelling, I meant it Roered like a lion, under load. The air box was restricting air intake and plug coloure, causing a week mixture on the front cylinder. Yes they are with out duoght awesome, machines. Biult for the dakar, sporned by the dakar, honda the first manufacturer to biuld a bike just for that race. Your words of being on your journey and being judged by others, loved or hated, resonates deep in my soul mate. It bisonifies my life in a one, er. You got soul brother.❤
I think you sum up the love and emotions we have as riders so well. Finding that 'forever bike' is such a great thing. Can't wait to see the War Horses sister come to life. Thanks Adam.
HI Adam, Absolutely love your content. My 1997 RD7 has now been with me for 18 years and done 112K and still my daily commute. Enjoying every ride with it. I trust both the Warhorse and the Iron horse will give you many miles of absolute bliss.

Oh dear, another one bites the dust, the Xrv750's have got under your skin. I'm up to 6 now and want more. Reality bites and now moving them on. If you need one for an adventure in NZ, I can certainly help 😃
Hello Adam!!! The surprise effect on your stories are great!!!!!!! Difficult not to fall in love with the RD04s !!! Your new one has the same colors as mine!!! Bring it to Chile, lets do the rough stuff between Chile, Argentina and Bolivian Andes together!!! Altitude an issue with carburetors hahaha
I am so excited to see you purchasing another beast like that. Having one myself, I am sure I will learn many things watching your future video. I am looking forward to it. I love what you’re doing !
I’ve been riding for over fifty years and it’s always a joy to meet, or in this case watch, a masterful motorcyclist. I’m grateful just know there’s people out there that dive deep and resurface long enough to share their experiences and insights. 🙏
I can not wait to see the Iron Horse on tour in North America!!! There are so many BDRs here that are worthy of the old girl's prowess. I'm sure anyone here in the comments from the US will share my enthusiasm in the notion of meeting you on the trail. Keep the wheels rolling, and the camera batteries charged and keep doing what you do best my friend!
In a world where too many want the latest n greatest and keep striving for the next best thing this shows you can have a great time and a connection with something that's not box fresh ! Fair play on the twins 😊
A brilliant way to start my day. Ex XRV owner in Switzerland (detuned). Loved the bike and miss her each day. Brilliant content..living vicariously through your adventures..
Adam I bought an africa twin in thialand. It was a hire bike, I don't now how old it was, it ran with now water in it , and I used to hire it in pattya. I blasted it down in the south of thialand meny times. I imported it back into the uk, and sourced a 1998 750 engine, which I put wiseco cams in ported and blue printed the engine, with an inch and a half headers into a short reaf muffler ????. I throw away the air intake , and put 2 oscillating gauze filters straight on the cards. When it came on the cams at 6500 revs, it board the noise was orgasmic, better the sex. Her name was the THUMPER. ENJOY.
I love how passionate you are about the “War horse”…. “iron Horse”… I’ve watched most of your videos….. I was a sports bike rider for most of my riding years…. GSXR’s Aprilia RSV1000 Love your work… don’t stop…. Got myself a KTM450….. looking at an adventure bike too… keep riding and sharing with us…. Awesome!!!
Isn’t it funny how we connect with what is essentially a mass of mechanical parts and wires. I think it’s all in the discovery of the history behind the bike. Without that, it’s simply a vehicle to get us from A to B. Thanks for you story Adam👍
My Father has an africa twin 750 1990 and its his forever bike. Its such a nice bike to ride. Perfect engine, even fun to ride it fast on curvy road somehow. Gave me the urge to just drive off into the sunset, feels like you could do infinite miles on that bike. Perfect exhaust note aswell.
Adam, you express your passion for motorcycling like no other youtuber I'm aware of. You, Ewan, Charley and Ted Simon were partly responsible for my son and I shipping our bikes from Aus to Mongolia to start our 3 month journey back to my parents' home in the Uk back in 2017. Now, my son and I both have our forever bikes, KTM 625 SXC. Keep making video's and I'll keep watching, Thanks.
It's fun finding a bike that speaks to you. I've done it many times. Probably owned over a hundred bikes. Come to the USA, Washington and Idaho in September is amazing.
I've yet to find my "forever bike" but I understand the concept and who knows...maybe the bike I bought last week will be the one?.....so happy you found yours.
The RD04 in itself is a legendary machine, combine it with your personality and bamm, the quality of content skyrockets. Throughout the whole video i kept on smiling. Stumbling upon something is different thing, but finding the same thing is altogether a new experience. Will be waiting for your content of taking Ironhorse to other countries.
Looking forward to this build. On a side note, when I saw the bloke you bought it from, I instantly thought, "now there's a dude with Dutch heritage". You can spot them a mile away. Thanks for sharing Adam. Cheers
The XRVs are life changers. Mine is part of me and has changed my life. I even talked a friend in to buying one, rebuilt it with him and it changed his life. The film of this is on my channel. Not had a moment to watch your channel in the last couple of years and am totally stoked this was the first I saw. Keep up the good work dude.
Wonderful video^^. I took a liking to an old DR650 Dakar from my dad's friend. Been sitting in a barn for 20 years, longer than i've been alive at that point. Was neither cheap nor easy to rebuild her but the feeling of riding a 34 year old bike and really using it for what it's made is an amazing feeling. When i took her to the mountains the first time last year i may or may not have been tearing up a little. Anyways, love the stories you tell and these beautiful XRVs^^
Twins! One RD04 had been neglected. But you can rebuild it. And it's worth it, because after all the workshop hours you have a legend. Looking forward to your adventures on the Iron Horse. All the best, Günter/Nürnberg
This guy's a nutter! I've had the '91 since it came out. Now it's transformed into a marathon. Lets see if he contacts Boano in Torino... Truly the best bike ever made.
Totally understand you Adam, over the years I had some rd04 and now 3 of the rd07, almost using them each day. Its a blessing for a bike rider, ride them for a short or Long distance trip. If your Journey will bring you and the Iron Horse to Central America you would be very welcome. Thanks for sharing the epic Adventure! Pura Vida
I think one of the most geniune blokes to deliver us professional content. Adam doesn't have to prove anything in the riding area, I pick up on a more geinune feel in the videos compared to other people and their content (others sound over the top scripted/fake) when he is talking and narrating. Now the owner of two big boy AT's! You blokes from Oz living the dream!
The passion you have for an old bike humbles me. Youve rode them all and raced many and have Fallin for what others would let rot in a shed. I admit the guilt i found after i purchased my t7. I like older bikes for many reasons. Not one for the latest and greatest tech. I originally purchased an old dr650 out of a barn covered in yrs of dust. The guilt i talk about is i gave up and bought a more dependable one for my 1st cross country trip here in the US. I am going at it alone and needed the reassurance of a machine that just "felt " better. I didn't wanna rush rebuilding the ol dr. I wanted to do it proper. Full frame up. After watching a fellow take a passion for old AT's i have settled on what would make me the happiest with the DR. Full frame up but rather then try to get it to compete in performance or appearance with dual sports or ADV's of this time...take her back to her root. Make her run better than new but look like she rolled off the showroom floor of 1993. I was going about her all wrong. Planning on making her something she never would have been.
Great purchase Adam! Hondas are just indestructible. I sold a 2007 VFR800 Vtec three years ago with 232 000 kms. The engine was original, unopened,(except for valve service) and still put out factory figures on the Dyno at 200Ks! I also had the chance to ride an RD04 with the HRC colour scheme back in 2010. Rode it through the epic scenery of Transylvania in Europe, single trails included.. That bike, back then already had 150 000kms on the clock but was still going strong. I felt home on it straight away, eventhough i just borrowed it from a friend, for a week.. What an engaging machine. I wish i had purchased it from him, but they have already bonded with each other, and he wasn't willing to sell it..
I have a vfr750 in the workshop that has been a little neglected after a superduke and rsv1000r track bike arrived. It has 10k miles on it from new, but the fairings are totally dead. I am going to have to search out a second hand set of decent fairings and get her back on the road. It is such a fun bike to ride and so comfortable for mile after mile.
@@james5553 agreed James! Should be saved definitely. Take a look at RRC restorations latest VFR 400 video. There you can see how to save old cracked fairings.. That bike came out fantastic.
Perfect. My first taste of a fast bike was a vfr400 a friend lent me, while I was still on my 125 license. I only rode it for 20 mins, but it got me hooked. The last action for the 750 was actually a james Witham track day ! It did surprisingly well and it way more sporty than the later 800. I have a plastic welder and just need to make a paint booth. I removed the centre stand and have a full stainless system waiting for it. I should probably think about jetting it correctly come to think of it ! @@laz1go286
Great news Adam, will be excellent watching your progress with the new girl! By the way I fully agree with your statement about going straight from sandblasting to the powder coat booth before any contamination and before the oxidation process has a chance to take hold.
I bought a second xrv650 from Japan recently. 8k original kms. As a spare for my first 650. The output shaft was pristine like on your bike. If you ever stop by Seattle WA. There are a few XRV owners around here.
Nice,Adam. It’s a special thing when you create a bond with a motorcycle that tugs at your heart strings. A year ago I purchased a 2002 Yamaha TDM 900 with 44,000km on the clock. A bike I had wanted since they first came out in an 850. It’s such an engaging motorcycle to ride and with its twin 270 degree engine, sounds absolutely glorious. It’s devoid of all the electrickery that sanitises the riding experience and is pure motorcycling. It’s capable enough for what I need and with 86hp and 89nm, has enough grunt, easily. The build quality is outstanding and will survive well into the future beyond my existence and above all else, it makes me smile! Congratulations on your Iron Horse, mate!
I just googled the TDM. What a magnificent machine. You know, in owning these old XRV750s, I'm starting to gather an appreciation for some of the older street bikes.
So IF you decide to come to America, I would def check out some of the BDR's. Stands for Backcountry Discovery Routes and they are pre-planned waypoints that take you through different parts of the country. I've so far only completed the MABDR, but I plan to work through them all over the next few years! Would love to see your version of a movie on one of them.

Thank you for falling in love with your bike and thank you for proving that when something is build from the staff of dreams it can get old it can get rusty but it will never ever die. Thanks mate always stay healthy
Let the ol' girl out of her cage and ride like the wind.
This saturday i will buy myself a 2001 xrv750 rd07. i am so thrilled. your content is so damn inspiring. keep it up!
There’s no better way to create the bond between the man and the new machine, than a great journey together into an unknown territory.. 👍🏼
I´m locking forward to your journey... good luck with your horses!!! Love & Peace from Germany 😃
Best MotoVlog on the internet, bar none. Adam loves motorcycles and it shows in the videos like this. I can't wait to follow along on this build.
Wow, 2 of them haha, ur a funny bloke Adam,, but looking fwd to seeing the movies about the French one
I think you sum up the love and emotions we have as riders so well. Finding that 'forever bike' is such a great thing.
Can't wait to see the War Horses sister come to life.
Thanks Adam.
Another belter of a video.....a new journey, a new destination.......PURE INSPARATION !!!
Gotta love the Aussie spirit !
Now this is a journey I don't want to miss out on following. Love it!
HI Adam,
Absolutely love your content. My 1997 RD7 has now been with me for 18 years and done 112K and still my daily commute. Enjoying every ride with it. I trust both the Warhorse and the Iron horse will give you many miles of absolute bliss.
The smile spot on 13 minutes shows exactly how you feel about these bikes Adam and that’s what makes your content so good it’s a pleasure to be coming along your journey
Sick man i love it got the same virus bought 1 rd04 91 in hrc colours and now have also 2 rd04,s can,t get enough of the beauty of a warhorse i started with the old transalp xlv 600 and fall in love with the AT found one felt absolutely in love with it and now they are for sure lifetime bikes ❤❤
Haha, yes my friend ... fortunately I have been infected by the RD04 virus as well.

I'm up to 6 now and want more.

If you need one for an adventure in NZ, I can certainly help 😃
Send me a PM mate. Cheers
Sounds like you just outlined my Motonmad 3 route
@@MotologyFilms at your disposal!!! Let me know!!!
Bet I’m not the only one who smiled when he started the War Horse without a choke on a warm day.. and it started.. 🤔
We are here for it!
Snowy Norway says hello. Can't wait to get on the road again, until then I got content like this to enjoy.
Mate, your 'forever bike' statement is so true. I'm based in South Africa and my RD04 is definitely that, cannot bring myself to sell her.
I found my „forever bike“ in a DR 650 SE about 18 years ago. I feel every thing you said at the intro. Love your content. ❤
Now this Adam is awesome. Can't wait to see the ironhorse rise and the adventures to come.
Yes I have Africa twin rd07 and l am very happy. Greetings from Greece.
After the unveil I didn’t stop smiling - “he’s got another one!” 👍👍👍
In a world where too many want the latest n greatest and keep striving for the next best thing this shows you can have a great time and a connection with something that's not box fresh !
Fair play on the twins 😊
and purely mechanical, no electronic BS on the old ATs!!! 😁😁😁
Captivating.
Helping me through the winter in Seattle.
Damn. Now I want one…
A brilliant way to start my day. Ex XRV owner in Switzerland (detuned). Loved the bike and miss her each day. Brilliant content..living vicariously through your adventures..
Holy crap! Another epic Africa Twin saga coming! I’m totally pumped to see what you get into! Awesome, just awesome!
Another fantasic video Adam. I can't wait to see how The Ironhorse evolves over the next few months.
Love the way you tell a story. Great video, thanks.
Love it. Looking forward to build two. Remember three of a kind beat a pair. Keep an open mind and a ready eye for another !
My 2013 XTZ1200 has 40500 miles on her! I absolutely love her!
Still looking for my forever bike … loving the ‘horse stories !
Felicitaciones Adam.
Hermosa máquina.
Y éxitos con la restauración.
Saludos desde Argentina 🇦🇷
Oh man, i'm so looking forward to see the IronHorse project and epic IronHorse rides. Happy Trails Adam! 💪🤠🔥
Haha! I love the intro! Spoken as all bike enthusiasts will understand....."you're going to want another one" 😁
62 years old and I have found my "forever bike". My Norden 901.
Your warhorse series was my inspiration to buy a RD07, your ironhorse series is going to help me restore it. Thank you.
The saga continues and I'm here for it!
You have chosen a brilliant machine for your journey mate. Get it done.
@@laz1go286
Your passion is on another level
Take us to France on the Iron Horse! I’m so ready for this adventure…
Super excited for you, Adam, and for me. I can’t wait to follow this new journey!
Fantastic news ! Gonna love this new journey with the Iron horse 👍👍
That old Honda V-Twin that is also in the NTV and Cheville are unbreakable engines as long as it has oil in it.
After watching your videos i had to sell my scooter out and by a motorbike!
So inspirational. Good job Man!
Enjoy the ride there!
90’s Honda’s are something else! Badass
Hi Ironhorse, I'm so excited 😊
I just know this is going to be an Epic Journey ❤
Thanks Adam for bringing this to us all .........
I laughed out loud when you unveiled the second one. Brilliant video.
haha, I suspect there are a few bursts of laughter happening around the planet today.
I have the same RD04 as the warhorse. Also restricted to 26kW and have found out about it two days ago… now this comes out about Adam finding out the same thing😂
Hi Adam...Thank you in advance for making us dream, your knowledge and adventures are truly inspiring!!! I religiously follow every word and every frame, I had an Africa Twin from 1998 and everything comes to mind at this moment... Thank you for sharing your essence and to finish, come to visit Portugal one day. Stay healthy and indomitable
Fantastiic Adam,i am looking forward to your next adventure and the rebuild of course,Thank you ,Grtz from Belgium
😂…..Damn it Adam, you leave us no more RD04’s!!! To think, I had some friends across the pond looking for a nice one for me…..and you keep taking them!!🤣 I have a 2018 AT Adventure Sports that is my forever machine, thought about getting an original…..and now I have to compete with a TH-cam, dirt bike god with super skills and friends in high places……how could you!!😂 Seriously man, great on you for bucking the trend of it’s gotta be new!! I love your originality and genuineness….and the love for the sport and these bikes!! 🫶 Wishing you all the best with the new love!!🎉🎉
Super keen for more Iron Horse videos Adam! Watching your vids is getting me through the last couple of weeks before heading off for my own epic 5 day adventure through the Vic High country. If my 690 proves as dependable as the war horse I'm sure I'll be able to smash Billy Goats Bluff!
Dank aan Edger. Mooi man.
Grappig hoe vaak Adam te maken krijgt met Nederlanders.
Wij zijn onontkoombaar. Je komt ons overal tegen in de wereld.
Haha, google translate helped me understand your comment. Yes, you guys are everywhere and I enjoy your company ...
Well, this just keeps getting better
Loved watching you push the war horse off-road. Inspired me to go farther on my RD07 (a German, with 96,000km).
Epic man why have one when you can have two. Can’t wait to see the iron horse build, and a few local trips on the war horse in the mean time.
Sick ! And then there were two 🤘can’t wait to see the build and the journey it’s going to travel .
