There is no or should I say, very little class today! I was a Flight Attendant and inflight instructor for years! My husband was a Captain! When we flew to our ship in 2020, we could not believe how ugly the world had become ! I sure hope we all find some grace and class again ! It all starts with us !♥️

The Splendor library is pretty amazing. Gorgeous space with amazing artwork, comfortable seats, and quality books. It's great to see so much print remain on a cruise ship.
@@callingallports We were on the HAL Rotterdam (their newest ship) and they have brought back the library. It was really beautiful and looked more like a bookstore with multiple copies of current books, and all nicely displayed. We're hoping to see that trend on other ships as well. We hope you guys will drop by our channel where we focus on ports more than ships. With all of your travels, I'm sure you'll recognize most of the places we've filmed, but there may be a few that are new and become bucket list worthy.

@@callingallports You will love the Koningsdam, but it is interesting to see the improvements over time. We spent three months on the Nieuw Statendam and a month on the Rotterdam last year. The Rotterdam was the only one of the three that had a full library. But we're hearing that those are coming back to the others. We'll be back on the Nieuw Statendam this summer and possibly the Rotterdam in the fall, we will be looking to see what's changed.
La Veranda was my favorite daytime food hangout. Just gorgeous. Prime 7 was my favorite evening restaurant, but we didn't get a chance to try the French restaurant.
We love La Veranda , overall - the space is gorgeous. There were times we just missed the lunch cutoff due to excursions, otherwise we would have eaten there more often. Prime 7 was fantastic and Chartreuse was top notch. They especially did a wonderful job with our birthday celebration.
Highly recommend Deck 12 (they're not all expensive cabins), but pay close attention to spaces above and below. We were surprised that we could hear people playing games in the card room below. Being above the library (starboard side) would have been a safer bet.

We leave in a week or two for our second Splendor cruise. This time in the Mediterranean. First time was last summer in Scandinavia. I highly recommend Regents, but admit I'm no cruise expert.
@@callingallports Had a wonderful time. Made some new friends too. The cruise was 8-nights, Rome to Athens. Unfortunately, Santorini was dropped due to high winds, so we went to Crete instead. There was one stop in Turkey, where we shared a private guided tour of Ephesus with our new friends. It was amazing. Some of the included excursions became tiresome--crowded, many older folks that didn't have the necessary stamina for it. Had health emergencies, which halts the whole tour. Private guided tours are best with a full ship, or just walk around on your own. More than 10-15 people is too many, most were 20-25 people. But the guides were great and did their best.

Per the Regent website: "Attire ranges from Casual to Formal Optional. Casual wear consists of resort-style outfits; some examples are jeans, shorts, t-shirts, and tennis shoes. Casual wear is appropriate for daytime both on board or ashore. Casual wear is not appropriate after 6:00 PM. On the night prior to disembarkation, guests may need to pack their luggage early due to morning flights the next day. With this in mind, on the last night of every voyage, we will relax the dress code for dinner to Casual. Otherwise, the recommended onboard dress in the evenings is Elegant Casual. Dinner dress for ladies includes a skirt, or slacks with a blouse or sweater, a pant suit or dress; slacks and a collared shirt for gentlemen. Sport jackets are optional. There were a number of open air games being played during our cruise, but we featured only the indoor ones. Regent did a nice job blending indoor and outside games making sure all guests were comfortable with the location and the event.
When we were on in December 2022, the ship had some of the worst WiFi we’ve ever had at sea. Apparently it has gotten better. Where is your cruise taking you?
Well, try reading in the very comfortable chair which is two feet away from the twenty feet of noise from shutters which sit on rollers on the floor and reach the ceiling. Bad design which did not consider the vibration caused by the engines when underway. Explorer did not have this issue. It is not moaning, it is pointing out something they could address for a space that should be a quiet room.

They are cutting short their lifespans and spending their life-savings on doctors and drugs and hospitals, sooner or later....From the heated Jacuzzis, to specialties such as acupuncture and reflexology, to the decor, uncrowded spaces, personal services, and equipment of an excellent fitness-centre, this part of every cruise-ship has hidden gems that most guests miss . . . just as they are going to miss the best part of life if they do not invest in nutrition, wellness, and fitness.....

Although we don’t want to wish for an overcrowded spa, we hope people will start taking advantage of the many wonderful amenities that other ships charge a great deal of money for! The spa is a gem that should be enjoyed by all, be it for fitness or relaxation.
Cruising for 21 years I long for the day when even Carnival served rack of lamb, escargot, prime rib, lobster and 5 other choices of entrees. Huge bowls of red raspberries and every bite was delicious, Now , if you don't 'do special restaurant' the choices are limited.
People certainly have their opinions about the decor; the high-end comes from the overall experience and service. Curious about what you look for in a ship - do you prefer the more modern, Scandinavia approach or something else?
I've been cruising for 15-20 years now across multiple companies, I just don't see a luxury high end ship here, it looks dated and boring, I'll be giving it a miss.
Such a boring looking cruise. I liked a lot the flower wall just needs more lights and the dragon does need a crystal ball. Liked the specialty dining inclusive.
People definitely have their preferences when it comes to cruise ships. If you just want days of no-frills relaxation, and fill pampering, this is the ship for you.
This is not a small ship. Bigger than titanic and more about what actual cruising is about instead of the floating shopping malls swarming with flip flops.
Sure, it may be larger than the ships of long ago. But it is much smaller than most of the ships out there. And it does offer a nice, classic cruising experience.
The casino was pretty crowded every single night. The Splendor is a small ship and it shuts down fairly early. So, the casino was the one late night spot to go after the other entertainment ended.
The only thing that is not luxurious on Regent is their food, not consistent at all, and either hit or miss. Also most employees esp managers have attitudes. If you have an issue for whatever reason they will tell you it is your fault and will refuse to take care of the issue.
I am sorry to hear you feel that way about the service. We did not find the crew to have attitudes on our sailing, in fact the crew on Splendor was pretty fantastic. I'll give a special shoutout to Jorge, the maitre d of Compass Rose. He is absolutely wonderful. Did you have a bad experience that makes you feel that way?
O contraire. Most people who are "nouveau riche" desperately need be seen and really like to show the money and impress mostly people they don't know who really could care less. The passengers I saw on this video come from the "old rich". They really have the money, are comfortable in their skin, and don't feel the need to display their wealth Such is life. I belong to the latter category and Regent fits my relaxed lifestyle well.

@@callingallports We had 15 foot swells, but it wasn't bad. We never felt sick or lost our balance. Food service and entertainment were uninterupted.

Did people get loud playing the games? Did you hear any pool deck noise? We've never stayed that high up on a ship, so are very curious.

What made that trip so special?
Your comments about Tea being crowded are well placed. The ship should have two tea sittings if they are limited to the small space .
Even a tea or two in the main dining room would be a nice treat. The tea was lovely, but we often avoided it because of the crowds.

One drawback to the library is that the floor to ceiling shutters all rattle when the ship is underway.

Cornhole …really ?
Cornhole is fun and an easy game for many of the older passengers to play. It was a popular spot for the duration of the cruise.

People definitely have their preferences when it comes to cruise ships. If you just want days of no-frills relaxation, and fill pampering, this is the ship for you.
This is not a small ship. Bigger than titanic and more about what actual cruising is about instead of the floating shopping malls swarming with flip flops.
Sure, it may be larger than the ships of long ago. But it is much smaller than most of the ships out there. And it does offer a nice, classic cruising experience.
Pretty. Like the elevators and theater. Nice place for singers and bands. Like the presentation and this ship very boring.
Yes, the theater is a lovely space. Decent views from any seat in the house.
Not your ship if you're into tons of amenities and entertainment!
Pampering - yes. Amenities- yes, but it depends on what you consider amenities. And entertainment, definitely a slower pace.

You'd be surprised how many people gamble on cruises.
The casino was pretty crowded every single night. The Splendor is a small ship and it shuts down fairly early. So, the casino was the one late night spot to go after the other entertainment ended.

The only thing that is not luxurious on Regent is their food, not consistent at all, and either hit or miss. Also most employees esp managers have attitudes. If you have an issue for whatever reason they will tell you it is your fault and will refuse to take care of the issue.
I am sorry to hear you feel that way about the service. We did not find the crew to have attitudes on our sailing, in fact the crew on Splendor was pretty fantastic. I'll give a special shoutout to Jorge, the maitre d of Compass Rose. He is absolutely wonderful.

O contraire. Most people who are "nouveau riche" desperately need be seen and really like to show the money and impress mostly people they don't know who really could care less. The passengers I saw on this video come from the "old rich". They really have the money, are comfortable in their skin, and don't feel the need to display their wealth Such is life. I belong to the latter category and Regent fits my relaxed lifestyle well.
