    Hello! Thank you for your videos. Wanted some clarification, when exactly do we have to brace our abdominal muscles during workout? What’s the purpose of doing so? I noticed in some of the exercises you indicate to do so and others you don’t. And if one doesn’t brace the abs how does this affect mom’s body as well as baby in womb? Is bracing the abdominal muscles the same as abdominal tightening?

      Thanks for the question! During most activities we'll actually automatically stabilise ourselves, and there will be some automatic abdominal activation pretty much during any exercise. This means that during any movement, there will always be a slight 'brace' of the abdominals. Sometimes I'll draw attention to it so you can make sure 're that your alignment is good, and that you're giving your body the core stability it needs to perform a movement well.
      'Bracing' and 'tightening' can be used interchangeably, and most of its effect have to do with strengthening the mom's body and maintaining good alignment. I'm not aware of any negative effects on the baby if you don't brace. It's just that if you don't brace and you're in a particularly bad position in terms of alignment during an exercise, you may put more load on structures around the back/pelvis/hips which may lead to injury/pain.
