I agree with you! I actually just bought it, I love the story! It's nice seeing Nintendo giving Jr and the Koopalings more personality. I know the Koopalings have been back for a long time now, but for me it feels nice to see them still in games since I had to wait a decade to see them again!

That's not really possible though. Jr. Troopa looks more like a regular Koopa than son of Bowser, his abilities are vastly different, and he seems to have no relation to Bowser (and only fights Mario because dev made him a pety kid that wants to destroy a heroic plumber for self-defending himself after the kid in question ambushed Mario for being in an area he deemed his).
Mario and Luigi partners in time might be from where he comes from, when bowser jr meets bowser they team up, my theory is that they been allies since then.
There are two types of people in this world/animals. Those who need a partner to have a baby and those who can do it alone so most likely Bowser is asexual he does not need to reproduce there’s your answer.
Mario lore is kind of low-key to be fair. Honestly debut games are usually where you get most lore out of characters. If anything Bowser jr probably has the most on going character development in every game
