Maybe it's just me, but modernizing an older game score with the electric guitar backed by a fast paced orchestra is giving me major FFVII Remake vibes. And I LOVE it.
to be honest, the remade soundtrack for Rise + Sunbreak is a little weak, feels muted compared to World's tracks but yes, FF7R had pretty orchestration

Rise had some wild instrumentation that made it really unique. Sunbreak is the kind of epic orchestral music you hear in every Hollywood action movie
@@thederpydragon4204 And there's nothing wrong with that in my opinion, not every music needs to be using obscure instruments, in my opinion Rise music had too much choirs and it made some of them lose the original feeling, and the prime example for that is Bazel's theme, just compare his Rise theme to his World's theme, the original one felt grandiose, proud, arrogant, and it lost that in his Rise one in my opinion... The music Rise did best are all original new musics, which are the new zone themes and Narwa/Ibushi's, all remixed themes lost something in my opinion...
Now this is a theme that’s MEANT for the monster in overall behavior and general combat attitude. Astalos is quick, erratic and to make things worse, MHGU lore says it can stand up against rathalos.

While I miss the *punch* that the main instrumentation had (especially since it reminded me of how hyperagressive this guy is - literally capable of punching you a good few kilometers) - the additions do make it way, way less repetitive, and I love the flute during the height of the song. Feels perfect to hear just as the oversized cricket soars into the sky before crashing down in a crushing dive bomb attack.
I do miss that wail that was vocalized in the previous version. It made the theme give the 'off' ness that the monster seems to have as it behave so different then most flying wyvern deing so hyper agressive with non straightforward projectile's. The electric guitar tho fills well enough tho and the extra bits fill it out, like it evolved with us.

I bought GU just to fight Astalos even before Sunbreak came out just by hearing his GU theme. So seeing the trailer for Astalos made me tear up. The monster that gave me the courage to try Old World Monster Hunter was in a modern game. While fighting him with my LS was great; I had so much nostalgia fighting him with my GU main of Hammer. As a bonus, I managed to find his plushie at an amazing price on Amazon. However, they got his name wrong, it wasn’t even his Japanese name. They listed him as Green Khezu. “Green Khezu” was a very great Christmas present, and sits proudly among my collection.
Agreed. Astalos fight is always gonna be one that keeps me on the edge of my seat. I'm a bit of a rookie, so I only recently fought Astalos for the first time in Rise, but after doing so, I can say that he's pretty much nergigante, but better. Still love Nergigante tho.
Using Air Dash against him on Charge Blade is. Jumping and slashing him a few times, several times in a row, tons of parts breaking and tons of topples. It's incredible.
Astalos was the first monster I fought in MH that made me realize "oh this game series gets real." Seeing him go ape shit and charge me was a great proper introduction to master rank monster hunter, and boy did it only get harder when I tried the other games.
One part of me is happy that this song is not like the others songs in base Rise, like mixed with japanese themes/instruments and vocals, and the other is curious to know how it would have sounded with those
Yeah I guess me too, it does feel like a breath of fresh air though without vocals in every single track, because while it worked pretty amazingly in many new themes like magnamalo, frost islands, ibushi/narwa, and now Malzeno(wow), it started to feel a little samey and for me detracted a little from some of the remixes and the impact of when vocals are used, meant to signify how big a certain fight or monster is, figuratively and literally lol. Now it feels like they’re letting a wider range of instruments take their center stages more again and I like that

Considering how this is the expansion pack where they said "we don't really care anymore, teleporting scaly dracula and bug wyvern jedi", I wish they gave the wyvern with a green lightning lightsaber a bit more of that sick electric guitar in this theme. I go out of my way to fight this beauty if he shows up on unrelated hunts just to get this theme.
Met and fought this guy for the first time in Sunbreak today. Easily one of the best Monsters in terms of appearance and theme in Rise/SB. Up there with Mizutsune

I know everyone talks about the new part of melody but holy god damn that little voice chant and metal "bell"? at 0:14 makes it so much powerful. The whole music got way more powerful. I don't know if they just took notes or changed the whole music team but it's such an improvement over forced vocals on every theme in base Rise (not every theme suffered from it, Ibushi and Narva have extremely fitting ones, but some themes like Rajang and Zino just got butchered to oblivion and there is almost no old power in them)
I agree about some returning monster themes not benefitting from having vocals (rajang's is a definite example) but honestly the vocals made zinogre's theme my favorite. I think they just need to pick certain ones that work instead of, like you said, forcing them on every monster theme.

I prefer the older version because it sounds more violent and aggressive, which is pretty fitting for Astalos. I still love the new one, but the added strings and flutes with the slightly subdued guitar takes away from the energy somewhat. Still slaps, just _slightly_ less than the original.
My first time fighting it the first time was intense. There is so much power in all of his strikes, and attacks that are tricky to guard against with a shield. Plus, recovering during a combo is a fatal mistake.

Astalos was the first of the Fated 4 I actually managed to kill the first time he appeared when I was suppose to avoid him. Took almost the entire hunt and using a weapon I wasn't used to but I did it.

Astalos was the first of the Fated 4 I actually managed to kill the first time he appeared when I was suppose to avoid him. Took almost the entire hunt and using a weapon I wasn't used to but I did it.
For me it was glavenus since I was used to fighting him in og generations cause hellblade was the best weapons at the time
What I loves him the most is that he gave me extra 10 fps each time I fought him.

It’s a pretty good but it feels like they quelled the rage in Astalos’ theme song. They made it calmer, which doesn’t fit the monster itself.

This might be one of the only themes that didn’t get toned down to the point where the fight feels less epic than the previous installments (Gens X I believe)
MH X theme had more impact for how aggressive it is in sunbreak. The if this theme was for X and the X theme for sunbreak it would fit much better.
astalos is too cool for me since generation is my favorite of the monsters
Fun Fact: when an astalos get shocked on the shocked Trap the astalos will automaticli absorbe ALL the électricitie with charge ALL astalos body with electricitie
You know, I almost wonder if they'll bring back *that* quest as a running joke from MHG/MHGU for the memes. One where we have to kill yet another Astalos trying to simp for a Rathian. And if they'll toss Rathalos as the third monster on the map for it.

I'm surprised they didn't include vocals into this like they did with almost every monster in base game
i'm also glad that they didn't add any Japanese tune into his BMG cuz i guess it doesn't fit him at all
