Being a teen in the early 80s U2 were a big influence on my music, being in the crowd at the even and seeing one of your favourite artists get down off the stage and interacting was something else. Something never done.
The crowd reaction said it all.
This was a once in a lifetime experience worldwide.
      So many astounding bands.
Queen at live aid was another.
Foe those years the Scottish band Big Country and Simple Minds were other good bands.
Simple Minds alive and kicking is another a.azing track.
I wonder what you would think of that track and if you have heard it.

There’s a reason U2 is known for being a “live” band.
Seeing & feeling this song live, right up front, in the heart of this raw, beating intensity, is….insane. It can be overwhelming. It’s nearly unexplainable, but slices right into & through the soul…in a most beautiful way.
Any U2er knows that this magic is found throughout the entire show.
Hence, ‘tiz why I chase this feeling across the country for every tour, over the last 30+ years. My soul, my heart, my head, my feet, rely on tapping into my utmost joy, found in U2…and specifically, U2 LIVE. 🤘♥️🤘

Back in 1987 I "liked" the Joshua Tree songs played on MTV, but didn't buy any U2 albums. That all changed after I saw Rattle and Hum late one night on HBO or Showtime, don't remember. The intensity of Bad, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Silver and Gold, and With or Without You was a religious conversion experience. Seen U2 live 5 times and each time is unique and beautiful. U2 has to be seen and heard live.

Just an astounding song. One of the main fanbases favorites because of the live performances of it. Later years Bono adds snippets of lots of other artists at the end which is cool.
There really isn’t anyone that can touch U2 live. I’ve seen them 13 times and never disappoint.
As for Coldplay, both them and The Killers have said they started because of U2.
    If this is your style,
    Sort of Homecoming
    With or Without You
    Love Is Blindness
And a little heavier but incredible songs - Until the End of The World
And Wire (May be no live version of this)
And if you want to see why they are loved live, you can do a double reaction of All I Want is You followed by Where the Srreets Have No Name from Slane Castle.
Live performance reaction is a must for any U2 song.

I've not long since turned 60 and in my amazing life have seen so many incredible bands and artists live, but U2 were without any doubt the greatest live. I was fortunate enough to first see them back in the early 80s in a theatre, before they became a stadium draw but with enough good material to put on a show. It's so hard to describe Bono's on stage energy and presence. Its like there's a raging fire in the room and everyone is energised by the heat, yet everything is under control, timed to perfection and almost spiritual. In my mind he was swinging across the stage from left speaker tower to right speaker tower using the microphone cord as a rope. I'm sure it didn't happen that way, it's just my mind filling in the blanks because I was mesmerised for the whole show.

Thank you Polo Music for reaching out and listening to U2. I started listening to U2 in 1984 with the song you are displaying from their album The Unforgettable Fire. There are two songs, Pride (In the name of love) and MLK that he wrote for the Great MLK,Jr. There 1983 album War was amazing and in fact, all their music until this day is amazing. There music is so inspirational. Every song from the first album to the most recent is great to listen too. There is not one bad song, only Bad Ass songs. The Joshua Tree is, in my opinion, the best album but then after he just about topped it with Achtung Baby. This band was ahead of their time just like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. While touring Zoo TV from the Achtung Baby, they wrote another album during that year with Zooropa. That’s nuts! They get better with time just like fine wine. Listen to the other albums. Watch all their performances. There is no other band that can top them. I sound biased and because they are my favorite band, however I grew up listening to Sugarhill Gang, Kool and the Gang, The Gap Band, Planet Rock, and all the R&B and then the English Invasion. I love music and listened to everything even hard rock n roll, metal, punk, etc. There is amazing music and artists, but U2 will always be on top. They are in their 5th decade (well 6th since they started in 1976 but put out the album “Boy” in 1980) and still making great music. All the best.

Only hate they deserve is when Bono stand up on the stage with Klaus Schwab pushing leftist garbage. Other than that; they get hate for the music they make because they push a far positive image, in a field (rock) that want to view them as squares and such; as opposed to the wild images of a Van Halen, ACDC, KISS etc. it's fitting he brought up Coldplay because they lost U2 as mentors, and like U2, Coldplay get hit with the same hat; little do those clowns realize:
It's the GOODNESS in their music that resonate with fans around the world that keep them LOYAL and gave them legs for decades! When the so called "hard" rock bands come and go back to the abyss they came from.

I left you a like and subscribed, I will check more videos.
Thanks for reminding me of this great performance. These were the years when U2 made people fall in love with their lyrics and music.
Years later I saw them live several times in Buenos Aires and I remember the night Bono said “We send love and respect to Gustavo Cerati” and he repeated it several times and I fell in love again because he felt sincere. Gustavo Cerati (R.I.P.) is, was and will be one of the most British artistic expressions of Argentine and Latin American Rock. Soda Stereo, his band, is, was and will be the most iconic and influential band in Latin American Rock. If you want, I recommend listening to the song “En la Ciudad de la Furia” (In the Fury City) live from the Me Veras Volver Tour.
Because although Soda Stereo’s great influence was The Police, their music sounds like The Police but also U2, The Cure, Pink Floyd and some Argentine artists. Even Coldplay in recent years in their shows in Buenos Aires also paid tribute to playing Soda Stereo songs with the rest of the members of the trio.
And since the creation of TH-cam, his videos of live performances have millions of views.

For all intents and purposes this is the song that launched them to global superstardom after they performed it at Live Aid in 1985 which was aired around the world. If you ask U2 fans I would say almost all of us would put this song in their top 5 U2 songs. Why am I saying this?
This song was written almost start to finish in a loose jam session over the course of about an hour or so. They were up against the clock to get it done. So they just released the record and allowed Bad to evolve during live performances. They had no choice but to do that because they were so early in their career and the record company wanted it yesterday. But once they got bigger and were given full creative control, they overthought *everything*. Records would be delayed years. In my view the turning point downward in their career was that moment they were given full creative control. And no one in their echo chamber dared to tell them no.. lest they find themselves outside the echo chamber.
But to their credit during their 2 decade peak almost no one could touch them. Especially live.

I highly recommend, ‘All I want is you’, ‘I still haven’t found what I’m looking for’, ‘Beautiful Day’, ‘ONE’, ‘Electrical Storm’, and I could go on. ❤❤❤

Back about 15 years or so ago now, there was a radio DJ on one of the biggest
radio stations here in Ireland, called Dave Fanning.
Every year, just before Christmas he did his top 50 songs, and played them over
a few days of his weekly show.
Usually, the number one song chosen every year was One or this song Bad (Live), by U2.
The first time I heard it on his show, it sent shivers down my spine, and even to this
day, it still does. I never get tired of hearing it.
The fact they also played it during their set at Live Aid, also gives the song another
    level of fascination for me.
From some of the stories I've heard, the band were less than happy that Bono seemed
to have blown their chance, to play three of their songs to such a huge audience.
Instead, Bono just went off script and went walk about, meaning they only had time to play Bad.
But as it turned out, their performance turned out to be the most memorable from that record setting day.
Or, very close to being the most memorable, Freddie and the lads, just about outperformed them on the day,
    another legendary live performance....😉😎

This is my all time favorite U2 song and possibly song in general. You definitely captured why it’s such a great song. I love it because every time they played it live it was different. If you want to listen to this single version it’s on the album Wide Awake in America. If you do some searching for other incredible live versions of this song try to stay within the 80s to early nineties era. That’s when his voice sounded the best.

U2 is one of the best bands in music history. They've been around for 50 years since 1974. You have decades of music and concert footage by them on TH-cam. You have no idea how great they really are. Music performances on awards shows on TV are no way to hear them. I highly recommend you watch their documentary/concert: U2 Go Home: Live at Slane Castle, Ireland 2002 to see a fantastic concert of them on their home turf in their prime. They were already around for three decades at that point. The concert was filmed just a few days after Bono's dad died. It also followed on the heels of Ireland winning the soccer championship so spirits were very high.

If I were forced to pick my favorite U2 track, it would be difficult, because I like quite a few, but I think BAD is probably the top track. I saw them on the WAR tour in 1983, about two weeks before they recorded the Red Rocks Live concert. What you see at that concert is what me and my cousins saw at The Tower Theater in Philly. So passionate. Then I saw them again on the 360 stadium tour in 2011 in Pittsburgh. Also great.
I think their last great record was Achtung Baby from 1991, which has a bonkers number of great songs. To me, they’ve been hit or miss since then, but they will always be one of my all time favorite bands. I can listen to their first five albums without skipping a song, which is crazy. I have really enjoyed watching fan videos from their shows at The Sphere in Las Vegas. Achtung Baby is just a killer album.

You know what you’re talking about. Achtung baby is an incredible album. I really think that they hit their nadir with Pop. The albums since then have been, as you say, hit and miss but there have been some great songs on them. I really don’t think the hate they get is deserved.

I don't understand when people say U2 went to "the basement " (keeping it clean) after Rattle and Hum. U2 will tell you that when times changed, they changed their style of music to keep up. Hence, why they have never faded. Actung Baby is their best album, sorry Joshua Tree lovers.
Like others have commented they have more Grammy awards then anyone, which continued after the 80's.
No Line on The Horizon is there weakest album, but over time it grows on you and is just as good as the rest of their collection.
Therefore U2 is ONE of the greatest bands of all time. There are many others but you have to include them (U2) on the list.
