This was one of my favorite meals in the cold winter months because it warms you up from the inside out. Every time I make these it brings back memories of growing up in Nea Makri.
This is my all time favourite. I love my late grandmothers recipe where she used pork meat that she cut extremely fine no mincing and a little pork fat. OMG what a taste!!! I have finally learned how to get the leaves off during boiling. I core the cabbage and place it in freezer the day before. Leaves just fall away. This part was always the bane of my culinary experience. Love your recipes Dimitra. 🙏🇦🇺
GIRRRRRLLLLL ! My family eats soul food but I made your lemony rice (w/o the vermicelli… I couldn’t find it in the market) But girlfriend? They tore that rice up !! They kept asking me for the recipe. Now I’m going for your 2nd Galaktoboureko video (less wet on the bottom you said) for the holidays. I’m taking this cabbage recipe back to Costa Rica with me along with your chick pea salad (Costa Rica is a Blue Zone… so I’ve got to show up with healthy dishes. )
I was going to make cabbage rolls with a tomato sauce, but this looks 100% better. Now, I can’t wait to try it! Thank you!❤ (P.S. I live in Upstate New York -did you grow up in NY?) Edit: 1/2 day later: Made the cabbage rolls-can I just say I could drink the sauce; it’s addictive! My daughter got seconds, which she NEVER does. This is a “keeper” recipe; absolutely delicious!
These look delicious Dimitra! I love cabbage rolls but have never had them in any sauce other than tomato based- Polish/Ukraine style. I love this idea so much! 🫶 Question: Do you think fermented sour cabbage leaves would fit the flavor profile? (So much easier than cooking the cabbage! They are what I always use, in the produce aisle. More costly but so good!)
И в България приготвяме по този начин с кисело зеле. Не правим сос към тях, нито добавяме лимон или домати, те са достатъчно кисели от естествената ферментацията, добавяме само вода при варенето.
I’m a bit lazy in the kitchen…could I skip the cooking/rolling of the cabbage and just cut it up in strips and throw it into the soup in the last 20 minutes?
❤👨🍳🔪🥬 Thank you for sharing this beautiful recipe. I am from Iran and we have a similar recipe. The difference is that we serve it with a tomato sauce with a hint of lemon and saffron. We keep that dish in the fridge for a few days since we make a lot of it at once. My question is that is your lemon/egg sauce safe after a day? Thanks again!
Χρόνια πολλά για την ονομαστική σου εορτή

That looks really good...hum!
Yum!
Another lady who likes tangy lemony flavor. I have to cut it back a bit.
Wow 🤩 These look so good and yummy!! 😋 Can we use anything other than cornstarch? Thank you 🙏 😃💕
I can not eat eggs, is there something else I can use to make the sauce? I am thoroughly enjoying your videos and your recipes. You are amazing.
I really like these but I like the grape leaves w/lamb better.

Dimitra i love you so much 😘
This is perfect for Fall season in Norway. Remember to cut the stem, i did that mistake first time.

Feel like she was forced to cook that dish 😂
