I’ll be cross training in Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Tech next week and have come across your videos and wanted to say thank you!!! I work in a retail grocery store as a Cashier (Publix) and the neat thing is that my company provides On the job training for Pharmacy Techs! I’m super excited, but nervous for this new opportunity.
Thank you for the support! Best of luck on your journey as a pharmacy technician 🙂 it’s great to have them train you because they will most likely pay for you to take the PTCB Exam!
I love your honesty & energy in this 😂 not even a quarter of a way through and loving it already! Subscribed 💗 looking forward to seeing more! Your job does sound intense - definitely need more of a reward! x
Thanks so much Kristy!! Just trying to keep it real for everyone lol 😂 I really appreciate you taking the time to subscribe to my channel I hope you enjoy my future videos I’m gonna be putting out 🥰 oh yes girl it is I’m taking a nice vacation once life is back to normal!!
I have been waiting to work in the pharmacy !! I am taking a college class on Pharmacy Technician !! Interesting video !There is so much I feel like learning .I hope I stay in my college class !
Hi Marah! That’s awesome! I wish you the best of luck in your interview. ☺️ Please feel free to add me on my social media’s which are linked in my video description if you have any questions prior to your interview and how it is like working as a pharmacy technician. I’m happy to help you out as much as I can so you can get that job girl!🤗💕
How did it go for you ? I realize that it's been a long time since you posted your comment but wondering how it went & if you got the job & stayed doing the same job. Also did you get certified after being hired ? I have a interview this Wednesday and I'm really nervous about it. That's why I'm here on TH-cam looking for videos on other people's experience of getting a pharmacy technician job & what they went through daily & if they liked the job or not. The pros and cons of it would be awesome to know also. Omg can't you tell that I'm so so NERVOUS 😢❤. If you reply back to my comment that would be awesome and thanks ahead of time. Stay blessed 🙏🏼❤
As a pharmacy tech, I agree with a lot of what you are saying; however, the benefits thing is no matter where you go or what position you are in. Cashier, manager, consultant, supervisor, tech, or even pharmacist. At least at the stores I've worked, if you are not full time then you are not considered for those benefits.
Hi rosa how are you? I am doing pharmacy technician and I did it on line. I have a question I am getting a hard time understanding the math can you please do some math calculations. Thank you
Hi, thank you for the helpful video! I am currently a sophomore in college who will be applying to Physician Assistant school this spring! I recently got a job as a pharmacy technician (trainee) and I am super excited about it! I am finishing up my training through computer learning and then I will start working with my trainer in the next coming week! You mentioned that you started working as a Pharmacy Technician during your sophomore year of college, so I was wondering how many hours you worked a week and how many credits you were taking? How did you balance being a full time student while working?
Hi there Tara! You can apply for PA school as a sophomore??? That's awesome! I wish you the best of luck working in the pharmacy :) Are you using that as your patient care hours though? Yes I was a Sophomore when I started. I worked about 24 hours a week and was taking from 13-16 credits a semester. It was HARD. I was in clubs, mentored, did community service, worked out, worked in a research lab, and did clinical roatations (not all of this was at the completely same time) but if you want something in life you go for it :) I enjoyed every minute of college.
I’m taking my pharmacy technician class though ashworth college. (Online) I’m about half way through the course and then I will have to do 160 hours of externship through cvs or Walgreens . If you have any tips and advice let me know :) I am so nervous!!
Hi Taylor thanks so much for reaching out! I’m glad things are going well in your pharmacy technician online class! Try to retain as much of the information as you can because a lot of it is very helpful when you’re doing your externship and for you to take the PTCB exam! I did not participate in an externship myself I am employed as a pharmacy tech and that is how I got my experience. During my time working we did have an extern come in to learn about the pharmacy. The best thing I would say for you to do is ask a lot of questions. Bring a notebook to write down notes. Don’t focus on learning the computer systems because if you get hired as a pharmacy technician you may not be working at the pharmacy you were doing your externship at. I think you should focus more on learning the flow of the pharmacy and what each person does at each station as well as what questions are asked by customers and the pharmacist when you are filling and giving the medications. Try not to be nervous honestly take it as a great learning experience and if you don’t like it at that pharmacy it doesn’t mean that working at the pharmacy isn’t for you you just might have to find somewhere else to work! Take it as an experience and learn from the ups and downs that you will face while you are there because mistakes will happen but I hope that you’re with a supportive team and pharmacists that can help you out 💕 If you have any further questions while you are training please let me know and feel free to add me on Instagram! I would love to message you on there or you can message me on here as well and I’ll gladly answer any questions you may have! 🤗
You’re welcome 😊 I’m glad I could help! If you ever have any other questions or any other concerns about being at the pharmacy please let me know I’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have!
Yes! Mondays can be stressful. The only day I need coffee ☕️ to deal ! Been in pharmacy for over 15 years. I still love tutoring pharm tech students though ! ✔️💯 it’s not for everyone. Pharmacy is allied health. I’ve had someone throw a pill 💊 bottle at me for refill before! Definitely need a thick skin!
Super helpful, I’m very glad I came across your channel I am definitely going to subscribe and follow your socials for some inspiration as I am considering becoming a pharmacy technician very soon🥰💗✨
Thank you so much Sisi! You’re so sweet! I’m glad you enjoyed my videos and I wish you the best of luck on your journey to becoming a pharmacy technician ☺️♥️
Hi love! Please don't be nervous! you have plenty of time to study for the exam and what I did was look over the study guide that shows the types of questions that will be on the exam. It's on the PTCB website! I'm posting a video next week about how I studied for the exam so please subscribe to make sure you don't miss the video! :D
It's up to you if you want to answer this orn not, but are you at Walgreens or CVS, or another retailer? Currently I work front end at Walgreens but I'm looking to get into pharmacy and trying to figure out if I should stay with Walgreens or not.
Hi Ethan! I worked at Walgreens for about two years and I just left my position in June 2020. Walgreens’s boosted me from $10.50 in 2017 to when I left I was making $15.88 (Chicago, Illinois metropolitan area). I know they pay more than CVS, I have a friend who works at one and she made less than me. I say apply at both and see who gives you a better offer!
Hospital pays way better and is usually less stressful so if you have the opportunity for that I would totally go for it or work both if you want full time hours!
You’re welcome Ethan! Since you already work at Walgreens they do like transferring cashiers to the pharmacy a lot of the times! Let me know how it all goes! Best of luck!
Rosa Perez I got the position as a DH so I train in pharmacy and work front end but I’m going to talk to my SM next week and tell him I’d like to be a tech as soon as possible.
Hello I have a question about the employment benefit , so I know that you get health insurance benefits but do they offer for free or you have to pay for it ? And if you have to pay does it half price or full price ? Looking forward for your reply.
I can’t give an exact number because it really does depend on the workplace and I think it also depends on how many hours you work. There is no fix cost per se.
The majority is basic math. You do have to sometimes do conversions and use formulas but you can always write them down in a notebook so you don't forget.
That's awesome Selina! Let me know how that goes, if you have any questions please feel free to ask! Make sure to subscribe and hit the bell notifications to know when I post more Pharmacy Tech videos :)
Girl you’re gonna be a mommy and you’re still working! Omg you’re amazing just make sure to not overwork yourself too much and stay safe during the pandemic ♥️ make sure to always wash your hands. I wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy 🥰 when you’re ready to take the PTCB I’ll for sure have a video up on my channel on how I studied for the exam 😊
Rosa Perez well thank you I’m trying my best for do everything on my own mostly. And I always make sure to stay nice and healthy and that would be absolutely great thank you so much!!
I’m in my 60’s and work as a CS in my store, was offered to be a pharmacy technician earlier this year. I didn’t realize how much there was to learn. I tech about 4 hrs, 2 days a week. Having a real hard time learning the drugs, any tips you can give on how to learn them?
Hi Patti thank you so much for reaching out! Since you already work in the pharmacy I suggest asking the pharmacist you work with if you have some downtime to ask them what types of drugs are the ones that you should really know. The majority of drugs you should know are the ones on the fast track or the most commonly prescribed drugs in your pharmacy. A good way to learn them is to write them down and learn what they are used for :)
My current role as an MLS is way less stressful than being a pharmacy tech but that is because I work at a small hospital. Larger laboratories and reference labs are typically very busy and can be more stressful. When I worked as a pharmacy technician I worked at a busy pharmacy which made it very stressful but my shifts would go by so fast.
Hi there Magdala! I actually used to work at Walgreens as a pharmacy technician. When I filmed this video I was still working at Walgreen so I couldn’t comment on which pharmacy I worked at. I totally agree with you there’s no benefits and customers can be so rude sometimes.
You are right your coworkers become your family, being under staffed unites the pharmacy even more
Yes they do! My coworkers made me enjoy the job even more :)

I am sure now the pay is a little bit more than it was back then! With increased COL and inflation pay has gone up.

It is very stressful I agree :(

Illinois. I'm sure the pay went up from when I was employed in the pharmacy in 2020, but I'm sure it is still quite low.
