Sounds like something is freezing it on boot. Can you boot into safe mode? If this is the case maybe it is a device driver. Select the logging option on boot and this will show you on the screen which drivers are loading. Maybe you can work out which driver it is causing the problem. It could also be software causing the problem. If you can get into safe mode you can also check the event viewer to see if there are any problems.

Which version of Windows are you using? Is there an option at the bottom to show advanced options? In the later versions of Windows like Windows 8.1 the feature is not available.
No it is not. At a guess, it sound like the hard disk is playing up. Have a listen and see if you can hear any clicking from it. If the computer does start up check the event viewer for errors. If there are bad sectors on the drive you will get errors in here and the drive will need to be replaced. If the computer fails to start, start the computer in safe mode and try troubleshooting it from there.
Just passed my 680 and 685 exams, in big part thanks to your videos. I used some cbt nugget videos as well, but honestly they barely helped. They ramble about camping holidays and BBQs half the time, they go into tons of detail over things that aren't even related to the exam, and then you realise it's because they're advertising their course or book for another exam entirely. Also the pacing, format and quality of CBT Nugget videos are generally fairly poor in comparison to itfreetraining videos. I also recommend the official course books because the exams do go into very random and minute details over the order things need to be performed. Even though the books are out of date and the exams talk about things that didn't even exist when the books were published. Buy them cheap secondhand on ebay if you can. I did set up a home virtual lab to go along with the books, but honestly I spent more time trying to fix weird bugs and issues with HyperV than fixing windows 7/server2008 simulated issues, so I'm not sure I'd say it's really necessary (though it's good to get more hands on experience if you aren't allowed to touch such low level stuff at work, and want the experience). Anyway, I plan to do more certs in the future, and will absolutely use itfreetraining to study for them. Just hope these certificates help get me some better jobs in the future. Nasty. Sounds like a damage system file or possible damaged hardware.You could attempt to remove everything from the computer that is not need to boot. DVD drive, USB drives, sound card if any, disable additional hardware in the bios, everything you don't need to boot the computer. I would guess however it is damaged system files by the sound of it. You could attempt to boot of the Windows DVD and run some of diagnostics tools to see if it find anything.

The same way that you would with a physical computer. Press F8 when the computer starts up but you need to be quick.

I can't even log in and I don't have any devices plugged in.

The box doesn't appear in safe mode either actually. I wonder if the Windows Repair option from the disc would work.
