Thanks Marty! The day Eddie's passing was reported I was camping in the mountains on my bike. I rode up on the Blue Ridge Parkway and stopped at one of those high overlooks there. Played this on the bike as loud as it would go and rang that suckered through the valley! Tear in my eye and singing it WFO!
I remember spinning this CD for the first time. Track 11 started with this finger picked lick and took me to the Top of the World, a plateau of joy, happiness, and exhilaration. I knew King Edward was the alchemist of musical serotonin.
Another great lesson! Thanks for getting in “the weeds.” You provide great depth of knowledge and the why instead of just saying play this! Much apprecaited!
Great lesson as usual....I can somewhat play this but this lesson will help me get it even more. No worries about "being in the weeds" Marty; we love that!
Killer awesome lesson! I've always loved this track and album. The tone on this record is my favorite of all. I caught the Ozzy tune Momma I'm Comin' Home, & Dire Straights in there. Your Music Man guitar is immaculate and a dream guitar. Stellar video Marty! 😮🎸
Your lessons get through to my brain and fingers so good! But I still cannot get any Eddie stuff to sound like I’m any good at it! Dam!! Good stuff Marty!
This is a great lesson of this song and I’m really liking this guitar. I’m inspired to add a Wolfgang special in solar quilt top to my bucket list for the inspiration to get better at this era of these EVH songs
Wow thanks man! This is awesome! I really appreciate your narration and explanation in this one. Super authentic with “that guitar” and rig “VHF” Your tones are epic! 👍💯🙏
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker yes sir, My forever favorite band , had the VH on my binder in junior high memories. I remember calling into a radio station on a Saturday night somewhere in the 80s and requesting simple rhyme and then they finally played it, and taping the US festival on a cassette tape, Addie’s kids today they don’t know shit

I'm telling you eddie wrote music like nobody else. In a way, it's almost like he created his own chords, his only raising awards. There's nobody else said before in the genre of music he did anyway. I love when you break his music down. And we can't hear what's really going on in there. Just magical How do you put so much in a small made it bigger than Wife. There will never be another eddie van halen.. And you're right those later years When he wrote music. After they got mister dead weight out of the way. And sammy came in. It became something nobody had ever heard before.. When I was a kid and dance tonight away came out. I thought this harmonic suicide was a keyboard. And I loved the song and when I come to find out. It was eddie playing that on guitar. That was a moment I wanted to start playing guitar.. It's just a shame that he had to leave so early. I just turned sixty. A few days ago. I would come to appreciate how fast life goes by. And you better be trying to live every moment..
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker I could never make my EBMM bridge pickup sound like yours and ended up swapping with a Holy Diver. (Mine is fuzzy and screechy sounding.)

Eddie actually hated this song and wanted it not to be used on the “Carnal Knowledge” album. He said it was his most hated song in the whole VH discography. Although a lotta people like it.
"Every single record there was a new Van Halen Trick" : This sentence is so true Marty! Thanks again for this new lesson!

F.U.C.K. is one of their best records, Eddie was on fire.
You can tell which videos I'm going to click on based on whether or not there's a music man in the thumbnail ❤
Thank you for the lesson but I just can't get the solo to sound right. It sounds like he has another guitar in there? Anybody know why?
👌
Are you playing the whole song on the neck pickup?
No I play most of it in the bridge. Lots of the solo is neck. 😎🤟🏻
