- This week we head to Unicoi State Park in Helen Georgia. We had a couple firsts, we changed sites when checking in and also had to sign a bear waiver! That was new! Lol
While there we did some hiking around the lake loop trial. We also met up with friends Terry and Kathy and showed them a couple of our favorite places. Betty’s grocery and Fred’s Famous Peanuts. And believe it or not we bought boiled peanuts for the first time there. Usually we get Apples lol
We also revisited a drive up to High Shoals Falls which scared the heck out of Alli this time. Here’s a link to that OLD video.

And did some off roading around the Chattahoochee River.
After a few nights at Unicoi State Park we made the trek home stopping at Stephen Foster State Park in north Florida to break up the trip. We checked out the White Springs bath house historical site which we missed the first time we stayed there.

Blackrock State Park is a great camprgound. The road is steep getting there, but well worth it. Unicoi has a trail from the loadge to down town Helen. Hiked it yesterday. 6 miles roundtrip. Shady almost the whole way.
We saw the cabins there too. It would be a cool place to stay with the family. We will have to check out the trail to Helen! Thanks for the suggestion.

Oh my gosh you haven't thrown an axe. You do know that there is a place downtown New Port Richey, it is called the Axe Hole. went there for a birthday party and had a blast. Just east of Grand Blvd and Nebraska Ave. they show you how to throw and give safty advice. Try it out, it is fun!

That Surphur water is stinky. We just to have a spring in a pond where we lived. Some people drink it and like it. thanks for the White springs info. We need to go there in the fall ( before the yankees fill it up ) thanks
Yup sulphuric water is nasty smelling! We do love that state park though, it’s nice little campground with cool history
Yall should check out Horse Trough falls next time your in that area. We did it in a dually! Not my favorite road but the payoff was totally worth it!!

@@AlliChuckAdventures well, I almost had a nervous breakdown especially when we met a car along the road and we had to go up on the side of the mountain almost so he could get around a dually lol those shots definitely won’t hurt!!!! Wish I would have had one or two or three shots myself lol we love that area and are always chasing waterfalls. We are flat landers from Lakeland ourselves but the mountains are like home.
We have to agree that GA has really nice state campgrounds. Absolutely loved the music played during your drive thru the campgrounds. Who is the artist and song?

We tried to go there 5 weeks ago and could not get ahold of anyone. We tried over 2 days on line and by phone. Nothing. We thought the place was closed. We really wanted to go because we have been there years ago.

Yes! Go up and then back down. Much easier drive. You’re gonna LOVE Vogel!!! Let us know what you think after staying there!
