      @@mtanyctrainatlantamartatra7164 what they are telling you is that if you say take me to the "train station" if you're visiting Atlanta that person will know exactly what you are saying. If you tell them to take you to the Subway, they will take you to the fast food restaurant...so be careful! In Atlanta, "train station "means MARTA and Subway is a where you get food.

    I lived in Atlanta back in the Mid-90s and during the "1996 Olympic Games"! it's very Organized! and, One of the Deepest Subway Train Stations in the USA!, carved out of Mountainous Rock! Atlanta is approximately 1020 to 1100 Feet above Sea Level! and, the Downtown Peachtree Center Station is 120 feet under the Atlanta street surface!. The Atlanta Subway System resembles the Washington DC. Subway System in many ways; Awesome!

    I think the same engineering firm in San Francisco, called Parsons-Tudor -Beckendorff, designed BART (SF), DC Metro & MARTA (ATL), all in the early 1970s. They look very similar. All of DC Metro's stations, were beautifully, but very uniformly designed. With BART & MARTA, each station is quirky & different, as all designed by different architects. DC Metro and BART both eagerly expanded into suburbs afar. MARTA's expansion stalled, when border counties, opted out of the rail system, and with with only local feeder transit to rail stations. BART had good funding from the state of California. DC Metro was heavily federal taxpayer funded. MARTA got minimal state funding from GA. I think DC Metro's earlier trains were built in Ga. BART's were built in California, and MARTA's were built in France, and shipped to Savannah.

    • @HOUExplorer
      @HOUExplorer  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That’s what I think too. BART, MARTA, and WMATA shares similar design. MARTA has so much potential…I wish MARTA would focus in extending the rail line (especially the incomplete line to DeKalb).

    I remember Marta before the red line was built or even color coded. It was just called the north-south line which followed I-85 and the East -West line which followed I-20. I think the GA 400 was built in the 90s but just up to the Sandy Springs station. They only extended that to the new North Springs station right AFTER I moved out of Roswell.

    One of my Favorite MARTA stations. It feels so futuristic to me. Oh how I wished we didn't have so many "NIMBY " mentality here in the south and what this system could be today. 😢 We ATLANTA were way ahead of any city in the south and even many much larger cities too.> L.A.,Houston just to name a few and still today even with what we have in place. MARTA has helped our city grow and host large events. You can seamlessly take a train from the airport to the Heart of the City and only a very few cities can say that in America. Btw MARTA is the 8th largest tranist system in passenger s out pacing larger cities once again like L.A., Houston and more..

It's mined boggling. We don't call it subway. We call it Bart. The only differences that Bart runs underneath the San Francisco Bay to Oakland. The Transbay Tube. The cold part is that up here and down there... have the same track system. maybe it's by the same CEO.
