Cannibalism in Necromunda's been a thing since the Outlanders box came out and someone did the math on how much it cost to feed a full Scav gang the regular way versus recruiting a new juvie named Tuesday Dinner. At least the current version shouldn't lead to crazy runaways in campaigns like the old one did. I can remember one guy whose scav gang was larger than an Imperial Guard company, all through the power of eating Long Pig.
Don't forget that if you were fighting against an outlaw/Outlanders gang they could roll for the mission on their table and in our campaign the "defend the caravan" came up often. The scavies would spend their credits to attract/recruit a ton of plague zombies and win by weight of numbers. Since they usually won by the other ganging bottling out, all the scavies got to roll on the special chart and if you had ~6 members get off board or not get taken out of action, they're each killing a Guilder and getting the 1 or 2D6 income, along with doubling their bounty. It lead to a lot of debate and the non-outlaw gangs didn't like it. Funny bit was a couple of my Goliath juves (Bill and Ted) holed up in a tower and were taking out zombies left and right (course it helped that only a few zombies could get in hand to hand at a time and Ted's tactic was to use Hurl Opponent to good effect...the flight through the air won't kill you but the 6" fall will). The both got like 40 or 50 experience after the battle. Other funny bit was one of the scavies had a Scaly named Toto whose bounty was 12,000cred; it really got out of hand.
This set is finally better then necromunda 1st edition.cant wait to see the battle report also love the story line Necromunda is place I wouldn't want to be for sure

One thing to note Ash the enforcer tactics in this box are different from the ones that came in the enforcer tactics card pack that came out back when the enforcers first came out.
Only Inquisitor and Necromunda ever really captured the 'grimdark' in their games in the 41st millennium. That's why it's my favorite system out of all minature game systems
I wonder if they will be selling a second version of the Enforcers as it seems the enforcers in the box have all the gear they can have which was missing in the first Enforcer gang box, or we have to wait for Forge World to make them in resin.

I need to buy those Corspe Grinders as Neophytes for my my Black Templars. My MkIII Battle Brothers have Chainaxes instead of Chainswords but I never had good models for the less armoured Neophytes. These Corpse Grinders will be a perfect match, though I will have to get rid of those stupid Khorne heads and replace them with some normal human heads.
The sledge seems like a door breaching tool with a under slung grenade launcher. Place against door, let it do the work of bashing it down sort of deal.
yeah.. is there enough space for a grenade that is launched to go 'under/between' the door-busting plate? lol.. the angle of the pic from GW makes it look suspiciously close to blowing itself up.. lol
Ha! Cool! I was game mastering a roleplaying game about Blood Angels Initiates at Baal and one of the plots were about a local city ruler who secretly was a mutant and created a plot to solve the hunger in his city by secretly distributing human flesh as meat and rations to the population.
If Jason bourne had approximately half of the contents of this box to dispatch a room of spy-dudes in melee combat, how many would he be able to kill? I'd wager it's at least several.
I hope this gives the game a bit of a boost. Its no secret the more 80's looking gangers don't appeal to a as many as the safer sci-fi looking stuff so maybe this box will be the soft realunch the game needs to give the same interest as warcry.
FWIW, Warcry has been a total shelf-warmer in my area. Necromunda hasn't fared any better, but I'm always surprised when I hear people saying Warcry has generated interest.
The art in the book and the fluff reminds me of what made me love 3rd 40k. with dark eldar and chaos! Too bad i am looking for a bosrd game with my kids or i would have taken it probably ahahah!

Unfortunately those aren't the Enforcer tactics cards from the enforcer tactics card box. Those are just new cards. So really if you want all the cards now you need this box set.
@Guerilla Miniature Games Ash, I'm new to Necromunda but I do play Warcry and some Kill Team so know some of the GW combat dynamics. If I were to want to try Necromuda, would you recommend I go with the new starter set (£175 GBP) or get the old set (at a significant reduction in price at £75 GBP) and try and get the new terrain when it's available ?
For the life of me, I have NO idea why they revamped Necromunda to begin with if they weren't going to go hard on the 3D terrain. To me, the interesting 3D playing areas was kind of the defining "thing" for the original. Without that, it's so confusing as to why they have both this and Kill Team. So, to hear you saying this adds kind of "2.5 D" is still super deflating. It's just madness. Might as well make a new "Space Hulk" where you're on big open surfaces.
Really wanted this at first but I'm gonna have to pass on it due to the price. I'll probably get around to the rulebook for the campaign eventually and maybe one of the warbands when everything comes up separately.
not really.. that's what I find super weird... Necromunda used to be closer to 4x4... each scenario can be different.. 3x3 seems typical.. 2x2 isn't really typical and sadly it makes the 'amount of terrain' look deceptive... as going from a 2x2 to a 3x3 or 4x4 requires a lot more terrain than what you get... That said.. most of us probably have other GW 40K/Necromunda/KT terrain already.. but if you didn't it would be rough.

I don't need the rules, dice, templates, rulers etc. I don't play bootlickers & I'm not thinking Corpse Grinders are for me either. OTOH, my Van Saars or Delaques might end up going Tzeentch or GSC so that Book of Ruin is right up my alley. Might end up picking up the scenery when they finally break the box apart in a few months, love me some ZM stuff.
For those of us who already have death ray designs walls, do you think you can use the new columns and wall pieces to build buildings and such. i.e. can you assemble them in strait walls without cutting or gap filling?

Who would have thought people would be interested in all this neat 3d terrain when they re-released Necromunda, a game that historically used 3 dimensional labyrinths of terrain into a flat tile board game.
Well, no need for them to do that, a fair price just could've done the trick... Let's say the classic 130 € for the box and the actual 55 € for the tiles => 185 € Pretty sure it could've been an autobuy for many of their customers
I mean Kill Team has something like 8 sprues in it for that price, this box game with more than double that lol. I get your argument about consistently pricing core games, but the amount of models and terrain is proportionally higher for the ticket price.
Why have GW moved away from cardstock terrain? Other companies have proven it can still look really good when done well and for a starter set like this it would be perfect. I have sill yet to get into the new Necromunda but if i did I think I'd just get myself a nice industrial neoprene matt and fill it with the many MDF kits that suit this setting that are out there.... would probably cost about the same and be a much better end result.
You should tell GW the price is absurd. It costs as much as a PS4 with a game in Singapore for a box that takes hours of prep to even use. How are we supposed to get people into the game at that rate?
Starting to look like £135-140 from the usual suspects in the uk, ordered mine at £140 from Goblin Gaming because they do reasonable saturday delivery via DPD

James Garness very true. But it’s easier to swallow than £175. I think at £130 it’s more reasonable, but it’s all about if what’s inside is worth it to you.
I'm almost expecting like the Imperial Guard to get a gang again. They had a little supplement back in the day and this, this is basically like the reason the Necromunda PDF or Spyders would be sent back into the underhive. Slowly try and clear it a bit at a time, no prisoners, no mercy just kill everything down there that moves. Probably give them access to some of their sick like acid sludge flamers and nerve gasses from the old fluff.

The premium sets are already sold out online in the states...this is only going to cause GW to keep with the trend of raising prices with every new release
I'll pick this up if stores are having a hard time selling it and cut the price in half on ebay to unload it. Otherwise, the price makes this a hard pass.
For all those moaning about the price, it’s not that much. If you cut out a few other luxuries that you indulge in for a few weeks it should save you enough to pay for this box. We need to show Games Workshop that we support this game and so I advise you all to buy a box or more if you can. It’s a brilliant game and I can’t wait to get my hands on a couple of boxes. If you’re a fan of Necromunda you should dig deep and support the hobby.

£135 here in the UK from one of my flgs. For what you get, to me it’s a pretty decent price.

Is 24” by 24” typical for Necromunda?
not really.. that's what I find super weird... Zone mortalis is different. You typically deploy between 4-6 12” tiles.

I'm almost expecting like the Imperial Guard to get a gang again. They had a little supplement back in the day and this, this is basically like the reason the Necromunda PDF or Spyders would be sent back into the underhive. Slowly try and clear it a bit at a time, no prisoners, no mercy just kill everything down there that moves. Probably give them access to some of their sick like acid sludge flamers and nerve gasses from the old fluff.

The premium sets are already sold out online in the states...this is only going to cause GW to keep with the trend of raising prices with every new release
I'll pick this up if stores are having a hard time selling it and cut the price in half on ebay to unload it. Otherwise, the price makes this a hard pass.
For all those moaning about the price, it’s not that much. If you cut out a few other luxuries that you indulge in for a few weeks it should save you enough to pay for this box. We need to show Games Workshop that we support this game and so I advise you all to buy a box or more if you can. It’s a brilliant game and I can’t wait to get my hands on a couple of boxes. If you’re a fan of Necromunda you should dig deep and support the hobby.
I agree that hobby needs all the support it can get but what happened to good deal like Prospero ? They are driving customers away at this rate.
They cost is ridiculous for what it you get, almost $300US plus paint, glue ect and another what almost $50 for the companion book...
Shame on you for justifying this absurd mark up in price. GW are the kings of overpricing everything they sell by 1000's of %. You should not be telling people to support this product at these absurd prices.

At the end of the day it’s really simple, the prices are more than reasonable given the quality of the product Games Workshop put out there. If you can’t ‘afford’ them because you are poor and didn’t study in school then go play something cheap and shitty from fantasy flight. Leave the rest of us to enjoy our hobby thanks.
