      @@danielcomirzan Hi Daniel, I feel you been very much a red day:) It’s actually healthy for the market to have a slight rebalance from time to time in order to continue to grow. That’s why I always suggest long-term investing over short-term speculation. People forget that you don’t actually lose money if you don’t sell. If you can, keep holding on and things will look bright and shiny in the long-term, but I can see you are on the right path.

      Yes I know it's healthy and I shouldn't worry about that much but you want to see some blue in case of revolut from time to time 😁. What stocks do you suggest to invest in? I have PLTR, NIO, Pins,Uipath, TAK and CSIQ.

And to your question. No, you don’t need to invest monthly. It’s really up to you at which frequency and which amount you want to invest though I would recommend you to do it monthly in smaller amounts rather than a one off big sum, as you will benefit from dollar-cost averaging in the long-term. @@mizopol For beginners I always recommend either to start investing in ETF's, which sadly on Revolut you currently can't. If you feel bit more adventurous, a fairly safe bet in the long term will be big US Tech stocks, Alphabet (Google), Apple, Mircosoft & Amazon. Highly unlikely that they will dissapear overnight and it's a great start for you to 'get your feet wet'. You can always add more high risk stocks later on once you feel comfortable.

    Hey Kai, can you explain how do we put stop and limit order in revolut and when to use them. Also, it it better to get a metal account if I'm planning to invest $250 every month?

    • @SmartMoneywithKai
      @SmartMoneywithKai  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Ravi, thanks for your comment. In the app when you go to click buy on the stock you want, at the top right it says market, if you click on it you can change to stop and limit order which basically means to buy the stock only at a certain price you will then define. Personally I always chose market order as I buy regular and aim for long-term buy and hold. I would not suggest Metal unless you plan to do more than 5 trades a month which would be less than 50 per trade if you plan to invest 250. I have Premium and offer all I need at lower monthly costs. Hope that helps.

    Hello. Thanks for your video. I have a couple of questions. You claim Revolut is really commission free in the sense that you buy and sell EXACTLY for the same price? I think there should be some commission to account for the random price fluctutations, so in principle I cannot believe that. Also, what about custody fees? Don't you have an interest of 0.0012 a month (i.e. 0.12 %) which amounts to losing at a rate (1-0.0012)^12 \equiv 1.44% a year if your number of shares remains fixed? I hope I am calculating something wrong, because that looks to me like daylight robbery. Also, you seem to lose a small percentage when converting currency (i.e. if I convert from euros to pounds and back in an instant, I lose 0.1%). Thanks a lot!

    • @SmartMoneywithKai
      @SmartMoneywithKai  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Edmond, many thanks for your kind words and elaborate comment and question. Regarding commissions, this is the answer from Revolut:
      Monthly allowance of one free trade for Standard plans , three free trades for Plus plans and five free trades for Premium plans while Metal users enjoy limitless commission-free trades.
      I believe what you refer to is the spread that is the difference between the bid and ask price for a stock. That is common though, any broker will have a deviation there, that's how they make money, for some it's bigger, some smaller, but overall I feel this is fair.
      As per the custody fee, here is the official statement from Revolut:
      Currently 0.12% / 12 bps (on an annual basis) of the market value of your assets held by the Third Party Broker in your account with it, which are charged monthly.
      So it's 0.12% per year, which is really reasonable, but of course, other brokers charge nothing at all, that was yet another reason why I personally changed to Interactive Brokers.
      Currency conversion has always a certain exchange risk, but their rates are really very competitive and much better than other banks, but don't exchange on weekends, much better rates during weekdays. Hope this helps. Happy investing🚀

    • @edmonddantes4705
      @edmonddantes4705 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SmartMoneywithKai Thanks for your useful answer! I was *not* referring to the spread or the commissions that are charged if you are not a Metal user. I was rather referring to the fact that if I buy and resell a stock (also vice versa) instantaneously, a small percentage is lost (say 0.1%). I know this is not a commission per se, but I suspect there is some remuneration going to Revolut and agents anyway. I inquired about this, since, for example, if you design an automated algorithm (say, with Python) that trades depending on certain selling and buying cues, it is very important to know what that percentage is in order to select a proper time interval for the difference between two transactions (i.e. it is not advisable to trade every minute if you know that after every sell or buy you are losing a percentage of the value of your stock. I understand that such percentage is small, but if you want to design a refined algorithm, it needs to be taken into account).

    • @edmonddantes4705
      @edmonddantes4705 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SmartMoneywithKai Regarding custody fees, it seems I was indeed wrong. I had read that the custody fees were, quote "currently 0.12%/12 bps (on an annual basis) of the market value of your assets held by the Third Party Broker in your account with it, which are *charged monthly*". The fact that it was written they were charged monthly confused me. But now I understand it must be 0.12% annually charged monthly, i.e. the monthly interest can be obtained by using discrete compounding with twelve months. By using the formula (1-r)^12 = (1-0.0012), r is close to 0.01% monthly.

    I would like you to dumb it down for me. There's a risk i might lose everything i have invested. But can I owe that company more than that?
    Let's say i only have 10 € on revolut. I invest them all but i also lose them. Is there any risk i will have to "pay" any extra money?
    Also, how small can the fractions of share be? I guess it will not allow me to invest 1€ from a 1000€ share.

    • @SmartMoneywithKai
      @SmartMoneywithKai  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi there and thanks for the question, great point.
      To answer your first question, if you invest €10, and the stock drops by 50% it goes down to €5. It would have to completely disappear for you to lose all your money, which would be highly unlikely. Moreover, you will not be liable or have to pay any money to anyone, the very worst and most unlikely scenario is that the money you had invested disappears, but then again, the same can be said about any bank, that could also go to zero.
      To your second point, not all stocks allow fractional ownership, but most do and yes on Revolut you can invest from €1, which is amazing, but quite frankly, I would suggest slightly bigger amounts as 100% increase on €1 is €2, still not enough for a Starbucks coffee:)
      Happy investing,
      Kai

    • @SmartMoneywithKai
      @SmartMoneywithKai  20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Great question! Let's break it down simply.
      Stock markets and cryptocurrencies are both forms of investment, but they differ in some key ways:
      Stock Markets: When you invest in stocks, you're buying shares of a company, meaning you own a small part of that company. The value of your investment depends on how well the company performs over time. Stocks are generally seen as more stable, especially when investing in well-established companies. Stock markets are heavily regulated, and the companies must disclose financial information regularly.
      Cryptocurrencies: Crypto, like Bitcoin or Ethereum, are digital assets powered by blockchain technology. They are decentralized, meaning no government or entity controls them. Crypto is generally more volatile than stocks because its value can swing drastically in a short time. There’s also less regulation in the crypto space, so it’s riskier but has the potential for higher returns in the short term.
      As for Revolut, it offers both stock trading and crypto. If you're just starting and prefer a more stable investment, stocks might be a better choice. If you're interested in the tech side and are okay with high risk, you might explore crypto. You can always do both and diversify!
      Hope this clears things up. Cheers

That difference is what you will be taxed on. If you sell with a loss, you will not pay any taxes on that👍

    • @SmartMoneywithKai
      @SmartMoneywithKai  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Hi there and thanks a lot for your question, which is actually really good, because there is no right time...there is a wrong time though:)
      Essentially you want to of course sell the stock for more than you initially bought it for, not when it is less as many people do. They get panic when it drops more and then sell, but that's the worst scenario to be in.
      The other question is then, how much profit is enough. I am a long-term investor. If I believe in Tesla or Google for the next 5-10 years, I would not sell tomorrow with a 5% profit, but instead wait few more years and then sell at 100-500% profit, but it's really up to you and whether you may need the money in the short-term to buy a house or something then it makes sense to sell early, take the profit and reinvest.
      In terms of cashing out, super simple, in Revolut you just click you stock you want to sell, select how much you want to sell or all, and within a few minutes the money will be back in your investment account and you can then use it like you normally would, so yes, very seamless and easy experience.
      Hope that helps. Happy investing, Kai.

      @@cashcartii8259 You are absolutley welcome. To your question with regards to how much to invest, the amount really doesn't matter. Of course the more you put the higher your return, but what is most important is that you get started and start and get into the habit of it. Better 20 dollars every month and really look at it and understand how it works, than 1000 dollars once and then never bother with it. It's like going to the gym. We all want to bench press 150 kg, but you've got to start small to get there, overtime you will and so will your money grow over time due to the power of compounding interest. Good luck and let me know how it goes along your jounrey and feel free to ask anytime in the future.

      @@cashcartii8259 No worries at all. Yes you are right unless you put bigger amounts the returns will be small but don’t forget. This is investing and building up and growing your earned money over time and it does take time. Yes. AMC or GME had huge returns but have also again dropped down massively and I know a lot who lost a lot from it. So I really recommend do it regularly every month as much as you can afford. Keep learning and growing and trust me over time it will grow but overnight 10x growth just is not realistic nor sustainable. I am reluctant recommending stocks as nobody has the crystal ball so I will just share what I own. Hi, can you buy IPO's with the Resolut app?

      Hi Dave, good question, sadly at the moment not, but they did say that they are planning to add it in the near future, fingers crossed. Interactive Brokers though does offer that opportunity apparently but haven't tried it yet myself.

    All I have is Accounts, Cards, Crypto, and Vaults as an option. No trade option is available.

      Hi and thanks for your comment. Interesting as normally that should be there by default as long as you live in Europe or UK. Maybe check if you can update to the latest app version and then in settings go to The Hub and there under Wealth should show up Crypto, Vaults, Commodities & Stocks. If not, then try writing to Revolut support via the app, usually they are quite good in customer service. Hope that helps.

      As far as i Know, due to Brexit investing is not an available option in Europe anymore. At least until further notice.

      @@quickpickle That’s a pity, understand why this app might not be suitable then for you sadly. I recommend Interactive Brokers, which is the app of choice for me too to buy my stocks & ETFs.

      Hi Abuzaid, very strange, normally that's available to all on Revolut. Try going to your HUB, those four icons at the bottom right, that takes you to all settings and features. There you should see a section called Wealth and under that should be Crypto, Stocks, etc. If you still can't find it, just write to support. Cheers.

      @@SmartMoneywithKai Here Greek bank keeps a commission of 10 euros for stock purchases on the Greek stock exchange, for all transactions and purchases made during the day, while if e.g. buy shares of five companies, he will keep fifty euros and after three days he will return the 40...!!
      10 euros commission is a deterrent for a small investor to invest in shares and profit from the rise, the profits are eaten by the commission..
      This greek bank, it also does not allow the purchase of a fraction of shares.
      On the contrary,Revolut keeps a small commission and helps the small investor to slowly build a small portfolio 😉

      Hi there, very strange, unless you are in a country maybe that's not supported. Either way, suggest writing to their support, maybe a technical issue as normally you should be able to.
