Scott Van Pelt is becoming one of the greats, like Dan Patrick himself. If I'm gonna watch SportsCenter, I make a point to watch his "I'm not tired" broadcast. Keep wearing your heart on your sleeve, Scott. It distinguishes you, and makes you stand out in a crowded field.
One of my proudest moments as a sports fan of 40+ years is hearing Dan read my email over the air. I've had the occasion to celebrate championships, I've met a number of my boyhood heroes, and I was even mistaken once for an NFL player during a John Elway celebrity golf tournament back in the late 80s. That moment though, when I realized DP was actually reading what I'd so painstakingly written over the course of the previous hour and a half, in hopes it would catch some underling's attention, all I could think was "Why the hell did I leave the house? I could be recording this!" So, I only got to hear it once, but it was EPIC. Thanks for everything, Dan.
SVP took a big risk here. Dan left ESPN and was treated badly. ESPN people were actually forbidden to appear on his current show. (Chris Berman being the only one who has) I wish Dan well, and will be paying more attention to his show. I hope Disney will reconsider and allow him to appear.
SVP is the last great one they have left. I love Champion, Ryan Clark, Stephan A (Most days), Stan and Neil, but they just aren’t, SVP, Dan Patrick, Boomer, Tom Jackson, Rich Eisen, or the late great Stuart Scott. Basically, ever since ESPN traded journalism for commentary.

Dan Patrick..... just get better.....I personally don't give a chit if you ever comeback to sports broadcasting, that's irrelevant. What's important is your health and those closest to you. I can only say it this way..... I'm 53.....a diehard Redskins fan.... when Sean Taylor died in 07 I was crushed for numerous reasons, but not just because he was a great player on my favorite team. I remember calling my nephew who was 22 at the time, mind you my Nephew and I went to Redskins Training Camp Every year and actually became acquaintances with many of the players year after year..... Sean being one of them. My point is....I remember calling my Nephew when Sean was in the hospital, and tearfully saying over and over again.....I don't care if he ever plays another snap of football, just please God let him recover from this. I don't know DP at all, but somehow I feel I do for all the times he spent in my livingroom giving me more then enough information about sports to be the smartest guy the following day. So I feel compelled to say the same thing to a man who has indirectly given me so much without even knowing.... GET WELL DAN.... we don't need you to enlighten us any longer with your knowledgeable, concise, well thought out opinions and facts pertaining to sports. You've done far too much as it is! Get better..... take care of yourself..... and don't worry about anything.....
That's why most radio shows suck on ESPN and Fox especially the ones after 4pm. Everything after Dan Lebetard, Stephen A and Will Cain sucks. Dan Patrick is okay. On Fox radio, everything other than Colin Cowherd, The Odd Couple and Doug Gottlieb suck. Sometimes, I wanna fall asleep listening to the garbage on ESPN and Fox radio after 4pm. It's like these people put little to no effort compared to Colin Cowherd.
Very moving! But, ESPN was a good program at one time in those days! These piece is as much of espn I’ve watched in five years combined. The talking heads are the reason quit watching! Who ever selects them needs to be fired!

You realize that ESPN wanted DP back. They actually had a meeting. DP wanted Sports Jeopardy at 4pm, but ESPN didn't think it was broad enough.
