    Lisa,
    I think you might enjoy this. I decided to put a drop cloth down in my studio and hang one behind my easel for functional reasons, while we were trying to decide what do to about the old, worn carpeting in our bedrooms. We are putting $$ into other improvements around here, so paying to redo the flooring isn't practical right now. We just decided to lay down large drop cloths and then make matching curtains out of them. We plan to tie everything together with the curtains, coordinating rugs, bedding and art on the walls. I think it's kinda perfect in an artist's condo and studio. I'm just saying. 😉 lol
    Looking forward to seeing your updated studio tour, Lisa. Get on that soon, would ya? I need some inspiration! 😄💚

    Your art studio is very nice and is quite the ideal workplace for artists as it's roomy even though it looks a bit small. Thank you for sharing us a tour of your workplace! I keep looking forward for more of your videos since they are all helpful. Have a nice day!

    Thanks for letting us see your space, Lisa. Other than being on the dark side, it seems perfect, one any artist would enjoy. Love the outside space the most. Studio assistants are valuable assets, too!

    • @Lachri
      @Lachri  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +J&J Winans I prefer the dark. I only like dim lights. If I could I would paint without the ottlites on my work. I actually used to do that but I would see my work in daylight and it looked SO different from what I thought it did that I had to put a stop to that lol.

    • @jjwinans1461

      That's interesting...I can understand it might me more meditative and less distracting though. Whatever works, please keep up the great work. You're amazing!

      Lisa, I COMPLETELY understand this issue. most of my studios over the years have been well lit and had additional (decent lighting.) After my move to the West Coast (CA.) my workspace has been relocated to a one car garage....and then, consequently, all (dim lighting.) I've yet to indulge myself in more than the one ottlight that I move around all the time between my workspaces. Ugh.
      Btw, your space is sooooo organized. Love it!

    What a great, inspiring place to create your art! Thanks for sharing! I did the same thing with an old dresser of mine and filled it with art supplies, reserving each drawer for specific mediums. I love your reclaimed wood pieces! I have a thing for rustic, natural pieces and repurposing items. (The bird cage with mini-lights looks fantastic!) My view out the art room window is my overgrown (!) back yard and a forest of ferns. (I have a thing for ferns.)
    I still need to hang up my completed paintings that take up too much room on the floor, as well as store my scattered blank canvases. I may 'steal' some of these ideas if you don't mind :)

    Nice! Thanks for showing that! I've loved that new "splash" backdrop you made, since I first started seeing it! That looks like such a nice, warm and welcoming work space you have there! I love the organization you have too! I try to be like that, but sometimes I spend more time organizing than I do actually making art! Lol! What kind of computer set up is that you have? It looks pretty cool, and the geek in me wants to know the specs and computer brand, and stuff! =D
    I love seeing other people's work spaces. Mine is pretty small, at the moment, just a tight space in my Den, across from my computer desk (which is a total mess, at the moment!) My drafting table gets pushed over a bit to make room for the Christmas tree, but the backdrop to it is my fireplace, which has a board across the opening. This year I put wrapping paper over the board to make it pretty and festive, and now I hate the idea of taking the paper off. Lol, I might have to leave it - or maybe I can use that idea to get material and cover it for now, since it seems my husband will never get that fireplace insert that he's been promising me for years now . . .

    • @Lachri
      @Lachri  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +momicajack Thanks! The computer specs I don't know. I do know that the video card is a EVGA GFORCE GTX 980 but I only know that because it's lit up inside the case lol. You should just get some new wrapping paper for the board lol. The teal behind my computer desk I made just by taking cardboard and wrapping it in fabric. It's not permanent but totally changed the feel of that space :D

    I know this is a bit unrelated to the video but, I wanted to make sure that you could see it. You should really try derwent art bars! I've been painting with them for about a month but you can use them dry! They are very interesting because dry they draw like wax pastels? But when you pick it up they almost feel like plastic! It's an odd sensation. When painting you can make them opaque, or just use it as a glaze! They become a really creamy smooth consistency which I prefer for things like skin, but can easily be used for texturizing a piece! They kinda remind me of water colours in the way that you can manipulate them so much but they kinda stain (almost like inktense) They crumble though, so I just keep mine in its box all the time! I took the rappers off and just paint right from the package, I also just use the lid as my pallet! BUT YOU NEED TO TRY THEM! To me they're a medium I'm so comfortable working in and I'm curious on how you'd use them! P.s I love all your videos!!!!!!!!!!

      +PimpManFan If you mean the drawers, she told us about those in one of her videos about what art supplies she uses. I loved them so much, that I have 5 of them now, and got one for my mom for Christmas! I got mine from Jerry's Artarama's online shop. At the time, they were $25 a piece. They are actually called "pastel" drawers, because the pastels fit in them sideways between the separations. But colored pencils fit perfectly in them longways. I love them, and I know you would love them too! Here is a link to them, if you like: search.jerrysartarama.com/search?keywords=pastel+drawer

    • @michaelparry1383
      @michaelparry1383 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Louell Dacanay , don't wait. You can watch and watch, but also do and do. You don't want to use up your valuable time waiting for the right moment. You may wake up decades later and realize how much you lost just creating the paintings and drawings in your head. Pick up a pencil or brush and create something. Lisa teaches to work small at first and keep it simple. This is one time that I would advise to 'not be patient'. Jump in and do something now. The perfect moment, the perfect studio, the perfect set of supplies, may never happen. Just pick up that ink pen and scratch paper and do something. DO IT. DO IT NOW.

I tried at times to do something, but never stayed with it. It was always, I am too busy with real work to make a living, or I don't have a place, or something else. I have enjoyed viewing the works of others and lived through their works, but I have not spent much time creating my own work. Lisa's videos and the Lachri Group for Artists in Google+ world has helped keep my interest stimulated, but I need to pick up the brush and pencil and do more. Go for it, you can do it.

    Hi Lisa, how can you prevent canvases from warping? and what should you do if the canvas has warped?

    • @Lachri
      @Lachri  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +SuperAprilFoolz I prevent it by only using Fredrix canvases :) If it warps too badly you just have to restretch it on better stretcher bars. If the canvas itself (not the bars) is getting messed up that is another issue. You can fix that like I show here th-cam.com/video/AmPWHQ7txO4/w-d-xo.html

      Well you are an artist so of course you would be. I was going to ask if you have ever used a program called Art Rage 4.5 ? Most realistic art program imo, though everyone uses photoshop, i dont draw physical only digital as i do cgi models and stuff. thanks for replying!

    • @Stoogie
      @Stoogie 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Like if u add a paint tube blob line of paint then use the smudge line tool to move it around into other paint blobs its so realistic lol

      +Stoogie That art program sounds very interesting. I have many ideas now but can't always do them in time so I forget. If I could use something like this then I could put my ideas down very quickly and come back to them later.

      Well again its digital painting , you know with graphics tablets (wacom), digital is different to physical. You can do it with a mouse but its farr far more harder and looks like poo XD also no pressure sensitivity. #mspaintmasterpieces

    What's the difference between a normal pencil and graphite pencils? Don't pencil lead have graphite?

    • @kurut0_teh_real
      @kurut0_teh_real 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      the normal pencils (which are the pencils you used in school) are graphite pencils. the graphite in the pencil is just called lead. the scale of a number 2 pencil is HB (which is both hard and black).

      @SmillyDonut 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sparkling-icetea Also, when people say graphite pencils they are usually referring to graded artists drawing pencils as opposed to the #2 pencils generally used in schools. They both have graphite in them though.
