That might be possible with just stage 2 and turbo upgrade. Opus Innovation already have a stage 1 GT63S E-Performance pushing ~950hp.

@@DanielSadjadian Kek im pretty sure the Brabus built 4.4 bi turbo is capable of way more power than a ecu tuned engine from Opus.
It's probably cheapest to add the charging door to the bumper as a retrofit. Would cost a lot more to retool to create petrol-esque filler cap on the body panels
On a premium car of this price where style plays a big role, you would expect more. Many cheaper hybrids have it sorted out, no excuses..
Has to do with design hardpoints. In our E class estate, the charging port is on the rear too, which is perfect because we reverse into our driveway.
Sure, it could've been done better, but this car was never designed to be a hybrid, so the structure probably does not allow much different placement.
The concept GT 4 Door had the same charging door cost cutting which just doesn’t look all that nice.
Don't these cars come with gas cap on either sides though? Just have them on both sides instead.
@@MyRealName Guess it depends on whether a car was designed a hybrid or not. At the end profit margins in the automotive industry (compared to the prices of cars) are quite low, car development plus production is much more expensive than people think and if they decide to spend the money to relocate the charging port than the price would be added to the car or they save money somewhere else. Also, while it might seems to be a really cheap change it's probably extremely expensive, because they have to design a new body, maybe/probably also crash test it and create a completely seperate production line with new tooling just for the few e-hybrids they produce. I guess it wouldn't be reasonable.

Stage 2 with a regular GT63S would probably be better. I doubt you can tune the electric motors and the extra weight doesn’t help.

This is a real AMG in my opinion. A overly powered high luxury german sedan with a masculine and elegant exterior design. It can kill you in a second or it can make you the biggest hooligan in the city while you have space for some luggage and space for 4 lovely ladies siting in the car. :D

Driving fantastic cars on a no limit highway.
Looking at the road signs, i noticed that you drive on the German highway, not to far from "Nijmegen" (my town).
I often cycle in that region (Kranenburg, Mehr, Kleve etc.)

I have had that CLS as well and those saying it’s way better need to see the GT63s in person. Its on a different level trust me.
I don’t see the point in combing a electric motor with a V8 motor … for me being a motoring purist it’s either internal combustion or electric … preferring internal combustion motors myself accepting the fact that electric motors are superior in acceleration still it just doesn’t do it for me … they have their place it’s an inevitability electric motorised cars are here to stay … still the sound of a powerful V8, V10, V12 motor either in front or at the back of you in the car there’s nothing like it in the world … driving is all about the 5 senses it’s the experience which makes driving at speed so exhilarating…

Most of those extra horses go to move the extra weight.
Normal GT63S power to weight ratio: 300hp per tonne
Electrified GT63S power to weight ratio: 354hp per tonne
Only 54hp more in the reality.
But that extra weight affects braking and cornering performance.
Almost 20% power to weight increase is pretty much.
The difference in speed is huge.
0-100 3.2 vs 2.9
100-200 7.7s vs 6.2 s
Numbers say themselves.

tbh aim for the 53 or 63, the S and SE lose too much ride quality. 63 is maybe the best blend of ride quality and power, 53 is the best for ride quality.

I think the minimum for a backup stand alone style battery should be a standard 100 kms distance at highway speed whatever that happen to be for each country with out relying on regen regen at highway speeds isn't possible so that should be the standard minimum

Guys I have a question! When you're in electric mode then you switch to the combined V8 and electric but the V8 still in cold cuz you didn't run with yet when you were in city for example... Isn't that bad for the engine?or there is something I don't know yet about this hybrid thing !
the full on electric mode is for when you're going grocery shopping, or going to/coming from work so you don't need to start the engine and going through the heat cycle of the engine and keep it nice and healthy
it can't be good that's for sure. maybe they came up with some sort of a compromise but it can't be good for the engine however you look at it.

By the way: what do you guys think of the new C63 being a 4 cylinder phev? I think the idea makes a lot of sense, but I dislike that they called it "63". 63 is supposed to be a V8 and it devalues the rest of the AMG lineup.

electrifying isnt all about range, but also about efficiency, due to these systems, the car consumes less fuel. This may seem irrelevant for a car like this but most tech gets developed in these high end cars and then copied into lower end cars where the fuel efficiency does matter

Making more power would make engine produce way more CO2, and that it something that they as a company must reduce to meet the regulations. This way they can push boundaries with still keeping the V8 and not just going full electric. I understand what you are saying and I do agree with you, but I also understand company's perspective. U can still buy a 63 without E-power and give it to brabus or someone for a tune for the price difference.
