I mow more than 100 properties a month with my Hustler Raptor 42, and have for the last 5 years. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hustler mowers to anyone. As much abuse as mine takes, if you're buying one for home use it'll last you MANY years. Great video!
@@braydenvandenberg8703 Update: my 42'' Raptor was such a workhorse that this year I bought a 54" Raptor and a 34" Surfer Pro. The only issue I have with zero turns is rear tire traction (the Surfer is a stander and doesn't have this issue), but that can be an easy enough fix.
@@moebiwan I was looking at the Surfer pros for my smaller yards but since there so new I didn't know what to think of them. Is it working out good for you so far?
@@braydenvandenberg8703 That's exactly why I bought one. Mostly for back yards that the 54 can't get into. I use it on roughly half of my properties. I prefer to sit as I have a bit of a bum knee, but it has worked out great for my business. If I had any complaints, I'd like the ignition to be in a less awkward spot (it's directly under one of the hand braces), I'd like the rear tires to be wider, and I'd like smoother transmissions (it uses the 1800s, the same as on my old 42, and they can be a bit jerky). But those are minor complaints. It's built well, the cut quality is excellent for me (I cut a LOT of centipede and St Augustine), and the way the engine is mounted you can get to everything in a snap.
Every now and then you find a down to earth review with sound reasoning and practicality from genuine people….Thanks for the insights on this mower which I am seriously considering for my property!
I purchased this mower this week and mowed today for the first time. A first time zero turn user I am and I’ll be honest . My wife watched me and she told me I had a smile on my face the whole time that I was on this machine. I’m about 1 1/2 acre I am so happy with this machine words can’t describe I work with a gentleman that has $10,000 grasshoppers and other brand mowers and he told me if he was going to buy another new mower the hustler would be his choice this was three years ago he told me this. I almost bought a 19 left over but I had heard the older frames possibly would flex so I’m so happy I chose to wait on the 2022 which looks identical to yours. As I said this is the first zero turn I have been on and I mowed this evening in 40 minutes. All I can say is Wow! Thank you and I will subscribe to your channel. My mower does have the flex forks Travis in KY
Travis that’s so good to hear. We haven’t even mowed here yet. Too darn cold. I looked at the mowers this year and yes exactly the same. Oh I wish I had the flex forks. I’m gonna order me some. First zero turn here too. I love it. That’s about all I mow too. These are rated 3 to 5 acres so should last a long time. Congratulations
Oh snap, that is one terrific mower. Has to be almost as much fun to use as the 4 wheeler. Your place is really coming together nicely. It sure shows where Chad got his patience from. So laid back and calm. I'm glad I stumbled on to Adler Farms which brought me to you. Great family dynamics. Blessings
I bought last year's model, an SD...basically the same thing. I've put 135 hours on mine, solid machine. I do like the looks of the new "big bite" tires on the new models and the new style height adjustment is more convenient to use than what's on mine.
2015 Hustler Fastrak SD. 550 hours. Changed the deck belt last season out of caution. Still on factory battery. Been an absolute beast and has more than paid for itself. My lawn took 4 hrs with a John Deere rider. Now it takes just over an hour, and I mow 3 other lawns on my street with the extra time.
I've had several people tell me that a zero turn will mow as good at full speed as they do going slower. With your yard still a work in progress, slower is probably better. I don't remember you mentioning the mower having a seatbelt. lol As far as your yard goes, do you have a tiller for behind your little tractor? I think that would help a lot with the yard. Put dirt in, smooth it out some, then till it good. The tiller should help smooth it out for seeding. Not sure that would be the answer, but I don't think it would hurt anything. And you would have the tiller if you wanted to expand your garden next year to some regular in ground gardening. Interesting and informative video, keep them coming. Have a good day.
I bought a Hustler Fastrac I think twelve years ago, and have been very pleased! 20 HP Honda w/52” cut. It has been a low maintenance mower, and the yard I was mowing until recently was close to 1-1/2 acres, with some steep area’s. Mowing those steep sections of the yard was a little stressful at first, until you learn how your mower will best handle those types of situations. I would definitely recommend Hustler, and would buy another one.
My dad bought this mower shortly before he got sick and I inherited it as the man of the house. I knew he did a lot of research before purchasing it but I am continually amazed how nice this thing is compared to others Ive seen. Even on our hilly property it does pretty damn well
I am sure you know by now that you have got one of the best mowers made. I have had mine since 2016, it was the Super Z back then with a 60 inch deck. It has NEVER had to go back to the shop for maintenance! Never had to have the drive motors readjusted to keep it running straight. I change my oil regularly, keep my air filter clean, and keep the grass off the deck, blow it off after every use. I love my Hustler, hope you are loving yours too! I even was and wax the thing! I never walk on my deck either! The fuel tanks on mine are over the rear wheels (2) and they have sight plastic to see how much fuel you have. And, speaking of belts, I still have never changed a belt on mine, that's just a testament to how smooth these machines run.
Good choice. I have a Hustler fastrak and love it. They are solid as a rock and thats how I bought one. They bragged about how solid they are so I started comparing and saw it was true. Nothing bad to say and Ive had mine 2 years.
My Hustler Super Duty Fastrac is 10 years old and has 600 hours on it. Kawasaki motor. Change oil, grease, blades and 1 set of spark plugs, 1air pre filter is all I've ever had to do to it. Its awesome.
Good Morning, Ralph & Chad! Well, we made it through Elsa last night! Wasn't too bad here in Pasco Country, Florida. Still a bit windy & light rain. I believed we dodged a bullet! Nice mower ... that will help you alot with your large yard for sure. Have an awesome day!!
I just bought the XDX because it has the bigger transmission and we live in the mountains so it's super hilly around here. This past Saturday it was delivered and I got my first mow with it in 2 hours. The riding tractor mower it took 5 hours to mow. I love it so far. There a little learning curve with it on thes dang hills. But all and all it was good.. it didn't have problems the tractor dose. And for the transmission it never failed or slipped or anything. The tractors would fail and take off or worse make all kinda of nose. I'm happy with the XDX I'm glad I got that 1 and not the club cadet I was after. Great mowers indeed 👍
Oh I bet that is a nice mower. I think also has the upgraded seat. Heavy transmission too. Very nice congratulations. Let me know how it goes. Zt's are game changers for sure
Great review, I agree with you on every point and getting the best deal for the buck was the primary reason I bought the Hustler Fastrak 60” with the Kawasaki engine, in 2019. I lived in southern Oklahoma and mowed almost 7 acres, including my pecan bottoms. The hustler cut my mowing from all day7-8 hours on a conventional rider down to 3 hours. I did get the higher end seat and the flex suspension, not to mention it came with an electronic fuel gauge. Thanks for the review.
You can now my yard any time! My son has the smaller Hustler mower. His grandson mows my son's yard and mine. He flies with that mower, doesn't cut it short enough and he never leaves that seat. Doesn't matter what is in the way, he mom's around it. Doesn't matter if he makes a wide turn and misses some tall grass. I told my son that I was getting my money’s worth because I don't pay anything for the job but he was getting gypped in the deal. Kids don't realize how good they have it. My Mother and I pushed a large Yazoo mower (the big heavy metal mower with bicycle wheels on back), to mower 2 acres of Bahalia grass! We I married, my 2 sons and I pushed a 20” mower to mow an acre of Bahalia grass. We were tough.
I really enjoyed your review and comments. I bought a new 2014 Hustler Raptor SD 60 from Lowe's of all places. Had never heard of Hustler at that time but was impressed by the build quality and followed up with research and found them to be American made in Kansas I think. Anyway was highly impressed and ponied up I think it was neighborhood of 4200 out the door. I remained impressed up until 2 years ago when the transaxle bracket broke and left me temporarily stranded. Upon discerning the issue, I was disappointed that Hustler began building a very solid machine but then to see those wimpy, wimpy, brackets. I pulled the mower back to my residential shop, removed the bracket, and welded it back together and I'm still using it. Since that time I've learned that this was a common problem among the early mowers up until about 17 or 18 in which Hustler began offering heavier gage brackets. Anyway, other than that, that is the only big issue I have had. I did replace the spindle bearings a couple of weeks ago after 10 years of use, 240 hrs. I did tell the Hustler dealer the transaxle upgrade should be like a recall thing and give it to me for being a loyal customer. He just laughed and brushed me off. I'll buy the upgrade when it breaks again. I'm 6'-3" and totally agree with your trepidation pertaining to stepping on the deck. 10 years now and I still do not step on the deck. Fortunately at our height we can stretch out to solid ground! lol.
Two great guys, with an honest and fair evaluation of a mower! Thanks Ralph and Chad! Ralph, I’m really glad you were able to get that machine to help you take care of your property. Happy mowing!
No own a big dog same as hustlers now having to wait on upgrading brackets there shouldn't ever be a video on a mower that the dam transmission brackets broke twice in less than one year hood luck see on your next video fixing your broke hustlers
I've used almost every brand of zero turns over the last 6 years. Hustlers are by far the easiest and most functional mowers I use. I've used 42, 54, 60, 66 and 72 inch Hustlers. There's two things to me that sets them apart. First and foremost they're extremely easy to do maintenance on. I can pretty much rebuild one of these mowers in somebody's yard in 5 minutes lol. Second is the foot pedal. I cut a lot of yards and use that pedal on almost every yard I cut at some point. There's so many holes, debris, uneven ground etc that it's very beneficial to be able to manually and temporarily move the deck up as far as you need. Also I've never stepped on a mower deck in my life. It's just not neccessary and I've been on and off a 72 inch thousands of times
One of the best, honest reviews I’ve seen, regardless of brand. I’m currently researching to fill the exact same need. 1.5 acres and this will be my first ZTR after decades of lawn tractors.
Good morning to everyone, hope everybody is safe from the storm, I am glad Ralph got a new mower. He has a lot of grass to cut. Sounds as though he got what he wanted. God bless and be safe.
Bought a Hustler several years ago & the best thing about it is the wife loves to mow with it. It also cut my mowing time by 1/2. It is very easy to mow with right out of the box but after using it for a few months you get to the point of really knowing what can be done with this mower making you like it even more. Just don't get too close to small trees when first learning to use this type of mower or you will be replanting them. P.S. Kids also love to mow with it.
Good morning gentlemen and Grandma. If I may, where I used to live the lawn crew would mow at times when the grass and yard dirt were wet. They never slowed before the zero turns. It literally dug holes through the sod. Grandpa, by no means would I tell either you or Chad how to do things,. Just thought I’d mention this because the yard is so new. God Bless
Great video. I bought the 48" Raptor XD about a month ago. It is the first zero turn I have ever used. I almost bought a 60", but U-Haul doesn't make any trailers with wide enough gates/ramps (and dealer wanted a ransom note to deliver to me). All in all, I'm happy. We have some steep slopes on my 2.5 acres, especially the ditches and a crazy slope leading up to the house. A few small areas I'll need to hand mow, but this thing rides great.. I like the power and ease of use. I'll likely add the front forks because riding over the septic drain field is like riding a bull or something. Like you, I wanted to maximize the mower per dollar spent. These are well built and designed machines. I'd be afraid of buying a big box mower. Congrats on your mower and your home. Wish you much luck.
I have this same model and He is correct on everything he says! It is more fun than work and we have 4 acres. Our last mower was a 1989 used Hustler with a 4 cylinder Ford engine. So it was a no brainer to stay with Hustler!!!!
I have a 2018 raptor limited with 52" deck and 23hp Kawasaki. The limited model has the wide rear tires flex forks on front and nicer seat than reg. Raptor. I change oil and filter and sharpen the blades. Never had any problems, it works perfectly. I had lawn tractors before and I can never go back to that. I have 1 acre and the 0 turn cut my mowing time in half. The only thing I wish was different is that it doesn't have the foot pedal for lifting the deck only the lever you move by hand and like you said that deck is heavy. Otherwise I have no complaints about it. I would buy another hustler.
I've used the zero turn in the past for several years and liked it. Not on side hills, but flat yards and work great. Chad, when grandpa got ready to kick the blade in gear do you realize you were standing in the worst spot you could have. I just cringed. You get hit with what ever comes flying out of there and you will never do it again. This is out of love Chad. Please stand some were else. That engine is a good one. I have one in my mower. Thanks for sharing guys. Iowa is watching.
Commercial Fast trac bought in 2018 still going strong. I have a good full service dealer in the neighborhood, makes all the difference. They pick it up at the end of the season, tune it up, check everything bolt, fix what needs fixing and then return it. All I do are the blades.
Hustler was the very first and invented the zero turn mower in I think 1964. I bought a hustler 2500 72" and used it commercially for years. I can say being honestly I had it and used it every day when I finally retired this machine I had put well over 10,000 hours on it. Yes I did replace the engine once but, when I got rid of it I was sad... I still to this day regret letting it go, And that's been 8 or 9 years ago. My recommendation is that if you can afford a hustler mower buy it . Yes every mower company has issues but hustler is built way better .
I worked for John Deere for thirty years and putting Kawasaki engines on their mowers was the best thing they could do. In my opinion the best engine ever used on mowers!
I have a RAPTOR SD 60" 9 YEARS OF SERVACE i mow 10 propertys in the south11 months out of yhe year just no replacing pulleys and berrings on deck I WIIL BUY ANOTHER😊
I bought a 42" XD back in July. I love it! The smoothtrack steering takes some getting used to only because it requires very little movement of the steer bars but it is very nice. I dismount almost identically to the way Grandpa does.
I bought a 60" Raptor SD with the kawasaki engine in late summer of 2019. I mow almost 5 acres and was mowing with a Husqvarna 54" garden tractor. But this mower is so faster and more powerful than the Husqvarna that it cut my mowing time in half. Its so fast that I don't think I've ever run it wide open and its never been choked by heavy wet grass. The only issue is that there is no suspension so you will feel every bump and rut. I bought a large lawn roller that I pull behind the Raptor. Its filled with water and 50 lbs of sand. This does a good job of rolling down humps and bumps especially if the lawn/field is wet. And as with any equipment use high test fuel, change the oil, filters, and belts as recommended.
I have a 2016 Raptor SD with a 25hp Kohler and a 48" deck. I can see some improvements in this later model with the lift-up floor for access to the top of the mower deck, and it was time they added the sheild for the engine. I have the shield on mine and had to purchase it separately. I would agree with your comments on the easier to service improvements. Mine is a bit of a pain to change the oil on. I'd have to get a closer look on the height adjustment to see if that's better or not. My biggest issue with the one I have it how loud it is, even with a muffler. I need to start wearing some hearing protectors when I mow, you are correct to be doing that. Overall, I've been very happy with mine and it makes my .7 acre lot a fairly quick task to get mowed. Nice review.
Thanks for the video I Have a XDX 60 and I love it. I hope you enjoy cutting as much as I do now. But 1. It's way to easy to overfill the gas tank so I flip the seat up to fill and watch the level, to avoid overfill and fuel spilling on the deck. 2. The choke is forward of the PTO so I pull the choke and stall by accident, I wish the PTO was the forward control. Normally you only choke it once. 3. The owners manual suggests you have the dealer replace the hyrdo oil and filter at the dealer @ 75 hours. No more DIY. Still a amazing machine! went from 2.5 hours on a 54 rider to .9 hours on my XDX
I have a larger Hustler Z4 which they only made for a couple of years. I bought it new in 2010 and have been mowing on my 20 acres every year since and still love it. It has the big Kawasaki motor and has even more hardcore items like a floating deck with chains, flex fork front tires that is an added suspension device, rollbar, air ride seat, twin gas tanks, easy oil change and hydro changes. The thing is just great.
I just took delivery of a Raptor X 42" cut yesterday and it is better than I thought it would be. I had a Hustler FastTrack for 15 years and got great service from it, but this new one is way better in my opinion.
Just bought one today! Coming out of a Cub Cadet. My Cub followed my first Hustler Super Mini Z. I will never buy anything else again. Should have stayed with Hustler. So happy to be back in the saddle! Thanks for the great break down. 😎👍
Good job explaining what you like and dislike about the mowers well as what you have observed when using the mower. No technical stuff to try and figure out. This stuff can be obtained from the dealer. He and his son appear to be genuine down to earth people as well. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts about the mower. I will be purchasing a Hustler in the next few days and look forward to many years of good service from this product. Thanks again!
Probably the best review of the XD. I bought one a few months back. Have 20hrs on it and he is spot on with everything he said. I was also going for the most value for the dollar just liked you explained. Awesome work!
What are they running price wise? I’m looking at getting a new zero turn and my family has a hustler for the last 10 years no problems but sharpen blades. Looking for a 54” to 60” depending on price difference
Nice review. I have a 2014 52" model I've worn the deck out on, so ordered a new deck for it. I'd recommend dropping down those anti-scalp wheels if you haven't already. They come factory in the top holes which don't do a bit of good.
I had a country clipper and loved it but the Kohler engine threw a leg out of bed. I traded it on a hustler. I preferred the joy stick but really like the Kawasaki engine.
Great video. I have the 54" Raptor X and I love it. It is my first zero turn so it took a little getting used to. I also like the fact that they're easy to maintain.
My husband and I have been looking at mowers . We have 5 acres to mow this was very helpful . He also is 6 ft 4 and I am 5ft 3 so it looks like we both could use this mower. Thank you for the video. God Bless
Good, honest review Grandpa Ralph, much respect, and as you said research. When you revved up the mower though I half expected the front wheels to pop, it has power....and no Chad, that doesn't mean you can ride around and pop wheelies. LOL
Well, y’all might not be selling them for Hustler, but ya just sold me one! I’ve been debating on what kind to get. Thanks for answering that question. Between this vid, and a friend of mine who just bought one, I believe the 48 inch is exactly what I need for my small yard. Great video, felt real! Thanks
You know Ralph, them mowers are the best ride in town. No matter the brand i have ridden i enjoyed using them. A friend of mine who had a mowing business had several of these. My first time riding one was thru him. Sadly he passed away from Covid last year and his wife sold the business with the equipment. Was a sad day when he passed, but lots of good memories. Enjoy this new toy! I love to drive all the new toys another friend of mine gets including the big tractors lol. So i know how you feel! 😉😉
It's great to see an honest review of equipment that everyone can use. Any yard is a work in progress . My grandson calls all mowers a tractor. How is your chicken house holding up ?
Have a great day. Enjoy your new "toy" mower. Love when you show off your new "toys" tools for the farm/homestead. I love both your chanel and Chad's chanel yall are both awesome and I love when the boys choose to be on Chad's Channel I enjoyed getting to see them and how they are changing and growing up and what they are up to and doing with their dad
Good morning!! Don't worry about your turns and speed Ralph you will get better the more you use it!! I wish it had a roll bar, we always had ex marx we loved them so easy to maintain...have fun!!
All good information to start with.. I love when people mention their height.. it's hard to find comfortable anything if your tall and/or have long legs.. Have a good day 🌻🌻🌻
I'm looking for a zero turn - Looking at the model that does 1 acre. Laughed at the part about the back of the seat. I'm 74 and am 4 ft 10 in - the back will probably be above my shoulders. Don't know when I'll get mine, but soon I'll be able to make hay.
we have a nice powerful diesel kubota love it plus our kubota zd has a nice comfortable air ride seat wich so nice on the back and a nice dial for height adjuster, and led feul gauge light on the dash and a nice hydroulic lift, and shaft driven deck
I have a 2016 Raptor SD. I have had all kinds of trouble with breaking Hydro brackets even the thicker upgraded bracket kit! Battery box has broken twice. I have 400 + hrs. The frame was made that allowed too much flex! Other than all those problems I still like the mower. I mow 4.5 hrs at a time on my place. Your video shows the upgraded mower that shouldn't have any of the troubles I've had as the frame is totally different now!
I just bought a Raptor X back in May. Love it! Original blades not great. The only thing I wish it had is boots over handles at the bottom. Dirt will get in there and won't open all the way some times. Other then that Love It.
I got the 2020 54” SD and got the front suspension forks a month after owning it. I also added a suspension under their seat. I have an acre and a half also. I’ve put about 100 hours on this mower and love it so far.
Great review Ralph! If we had grass and a yard big enough I'd talk my husband into getting me one of those so I could have a new toy. 😁 Thank you for sharing! Hugs and love to you and your family. ❤️✝🤗 Have a beautiful and blessed week. God Bless ❤️✝🤗
Glad your dad mentioned how it does cutting overgrown grass, needed to know that, and I think there's a option for a spring to help with heavy deck lift, thanks for this solid review
Awesome review! Great mower. My little old Murray hanging in. Had to change belt yesterday mercy! Love mowing like my chainsaw, clueless, why I love it but I do. Have a picture of me tiny mowing with my Dad at 3 years old so that could be why. I mow an acer + the other 10 are in woods. A lot of Boulder removal, who lives on a Mt.Foothill. I will dream and pray ! Thankyou ! Makes a big differance. I love the toys!! It sure helps to get a man's opinion
@@grandpadossfarms yes so true! Make it easier on yourself! So blessed to have the Murray got it used for $100. 5 years ago. It's been such a trooper in this terrain. Use to have to weed eat the acer than a step up with push mower now all of them. God is faithful & good to supply the needs and help me learn.
Had a hustler raptor for the last 6 years, still runs like new, my very rough yard just about wore the deck out, looking for a new deck now. In six years replaced 2 spindles, the front wheels and the starter switch.
It kind of blows my mind that mowers are rated for acreage. When we farmed, we had 3 homes on a 400 acre property (just North of you in Vernon County), and we mowed approximately 10 acres of yards and a pond dam with a 20 year old 110 John Deere with a 36" cut. Each was on a different part of the same section, so we just drove it around the section from place to place. Road gear on it was probably 4-5 mph. Our house was just a trailer slapped into 5 acres of native pasture (and the pond) that had always had cattle on it, so it was a pretty rough ride. I doubt if we ever have the land again to need a zero turn, but if we did, I think we'd certainly look into one like yours! I really liked the accessibility of the belt and filters, and the big, solid platform. And honestly, compared to the price of other new mowers around ( even off breed ones) it's a pretty decent price for the quality you got.
I bought mine last year I'm with him I fell in love with it. Come this spring I had to jump start my mower and it was very easy to do by myself by sticking my hand down through the hold of the seat. And I am like you I blow my mower off every time I use it including my air filter. My son-in-law asked me if that was a new air filter and I said no it was from last year he said it's not even dirty. I am getting ready to change the oil and the gas filter for another season also I want to Lube all my moving parts. I thought about having my son-in-law weld me A-Rod on the front end to help get up and down off the mower😊
Great review and vid both of you! I ordered a 34" Dash XD earlier this week for my 1/3 acre and based on supply chain issues (belts and tires from China), my Hustler dealer told me earliest would be August of 2022. So if you're looking for these, unless your dealer has inventory on hand, you'll be waiting a long time!
Nice looking ride there, Ralph! The one safety item I see needing attention is the bolts holding the deck up. They stick up from the top of the base quite far. You should consider some sort of rubber capping for those. I am thinking of Adler and how much he likes "running" your machines! The bolts could put some serious hurt on those cute little legs of his! As to going 7 MPH, I would. My Dad used to call me Mario Andretti!
Hey Grandpa nice mower sometimes you don't mind paying the money if its something you really like. You want to get your money's worth and it's not necessarily paying extra money for all the bells and whistles. Sometimes you have to take the good with the bad but the important thing is in the end are you happy with it. So whats next for grandpa keep up the good work and see you in the next video🤔👍😉
Ty Sandra, lots of choices for sure. You make your choice and live with it. Next for me. Improving the farm. Adding housing for the animals. And more work for all of us😃
I have used a commercial ztr for 18 years on my home grass it runs 10 MPH but I seldom use that speed. You need really smooth terrain for that....I love mowing with this mower, I wish I had more property... It's a 61" Husqvarna, I mow a 1/2 acre with it in 16 minutes...Way overkill but I bought it used and when you do that you don't always get your choice...The next one will be used also...
I found it easy to buy my Hustler here in Australia. mine is the 34" Dash XD. When I found out the deck was fabricated and it had a Yamaha motor and it will fit around my water tanks it was a no brainer. It was hard to near impossible to find a zero turn that offers as much as this one. At $6500.00 dollarydoos it wasn't cheap but I need it to last. One acre is what I am mowing. I am still waiting for it to arrive. This a great review. no love for the brand but what it is capable off.👍👍
I just got a 60" fastrak 7-13, I have 10 acres of yard and field (tallgrass prairie), I mow 6-7 of it. I wouldn't worry about stepping on the deck, I am 6-4, 330 pounds and it does not budge at all. They are made in Hesston KS. The seat upgrade is worth it. You are right about the power, push the bars forward and away you go.
Hey guys, just came across the video. I got a Hustler two seasons ago. I love it. They are awesome and like you said quality mowers. The only thing I can say is if you ever come across a flip up deck. You might like that. That’s what I have and it is unbelievable. I clean my deck a lot more than I used to now. Again thanks a lot love the video. Enjoy your “Hustler” I know I do.
I own the same mower and I absolutely love it. My only recommendation would be to install lock washers on the upright handles. One of my bolts backed out due to vibration and I almost had a bad day.
Thanks a million! Wanted to see a review or two before buying, now I actually feel like I know what I’m getting already, before bringing it home! Happy cutting
We own the Super Z 60" commerical mower. Its a 2011 Model and we maintain around 6 acres of uneven property. I can only compare ours to those I have used which is a Skagg and a Kubota. The Super Z is a cutting machine as far as speed goes and though other brands cut just as well I don't think they can keep up with the speed and durability of the Hustler. I have a friend who swears by his Ferris since the ride is supposed to be much smoother. But all in all it would be hard for me to switch to another brand without a good test drive!
I believe Hustler was the first to come out with the zero turn. The hustler raptor I have is 7 years old with absolutely, no problems. It’s built very well and I mow approx one 1 acre every week during the season. The price was better than most and will buy again if needed.
What your dad said was new for that model may be for that model but can verify is not new for Hustler. I own a 11-12 year old Hustler Fastrak which is actually the highest Resi one they have and it has the solid frame/solid deck with the 1/2 inch thick guard on the bottom which by the way is warrantied for life. Mine came with a Honda 20 horse which after around 12 year still knocking it out of the park. Enjoy, you should get many years of service out of your new machine.
I mow more than 100 properties a month with my Hustler Raptor 42, and have for the last 5 years. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hustler mowers to anyone. As much abuse as mine takes, if you're buying one for home use it'll last you MANY years. Great video!
Thank you, I love hearing these stories. You are busy, my word that's a lot of properties. Appreciate the comment
I've been wanting to get a raptor for commercial use but didn't know if they'd hold up. Thanks
I’m about 1 1/2 acre I am so happy with this machine words can’t describe
I work with a gentleman that has $10,000 grasshoppers and other brand mowers and he told me if he was going to buy another new mower the hustler would be his choice this was three years ago he told me this.
My mower does have the flex forks
Travis in KY
Travis that’s so good to hear. We haven’t even mowed here yet. Too darn cold. I looked at the mowers this year and yes exactly the same. Oh I wish I had the flex forks. I’m gonna order me some. First zero turn here too. I love it. That’s about all I mow too. These are rated 3 to 5 acres so should last a long time. Congratulations
I have had my Hustler for 17 yrs and it is hands down the best purchase I have ever made.
Blessings
Thank you so much for watching Ali
I bought last year's model, an SD...basically the same thing. I've put 135 hours on mine, solid machine. I do like the looks of the new "big bite" tires on the new models and the new style height adjustment is more convenient to use than what's on mine.
2015 Hustler Fastrak SD. 550 hours. Changed the deck belt last season out of caution. Still on factory battery. Been an absolute beast and has more than paid for itself. My lawn took 4 hrs with a John Deere rider. Now it takes just over an hour, and I mow 3 other lawns on my street with the extra time.
So good to know Eric. Makes feel like I made a good decision
I've had several people tell me that a zero turn will mow as good at full speed as they do going slower. With your yard still a work in progress, slower is probably better. I don't remember you mentioning the mower having a seatbelt. lol
As far as your yard goes, do you have a tiller for behind your little tractor? I think that would help a lot with the yard. Put dirt in, smooth it out some, then till it good. The tiller should help smooth it out for seeding. Not sure that would be the answer, but I don't think it would hurt anything. And you would have the tiller if you wanted to expand your garden next year to some regular in ground gardening.
Interesting and informative video, keep them coming. Have a good day.
I tell ya Robert my yard is nothing but rocks. I pretty much just have to cover with dirt. Lol I cannot imagine mowing that fast, crazy
I love hearing that thank you! You can’t beat regular maintenance for longevity
Good choice. I have a Hustler fastrak and love it. They are solid as a rock and thats how I bought one. They bragged about how solid they are so I started comparing and saw it was true. Nothing bad to say and Ive had mine 2 years.
Thank you Norman glad to hear that
My Hustler Super Duty Fastrac is 10 years old and has 600 hours on it. Kawasaki motor. Change oil, grease, blades and 1 set of spark plugs, 1air pre filter is all I've ever had to do to it. Its awesome.
Ralph you are a hoot. You crack me up when you say, "Grandma, how do we sign out".
Rosie I can't ever get it right lol
My father-in-law has a 72” Hustler Super Z with a 27hp Kawasaki. Has over 2300 hours, runs great and mows fantastic!
Nice!
Heck yeah you're still tough I bet!
Oh my goodness! Wouldn’t my husband love one of those! 😍
Thank you Grandpa and Grandma! Until the next time!👋
I really enjoyed your review and comments.
Thank you Bennie, it will make a big difference
God Bless
Yes Virginia you can certainly tear your yard up. Takes practice
Congratulations Eric, so far I'm very pleased. My land is pretty level. I'm definitely adding the other forks one day
I have this same model and He is correct on everything he says! It is more fun than work and we have 4 acres. Our last mower was a 1989 used Hustler with a 4 cylinder Ford engine. So it was a no brainer to stay with Hustler!!!!
Ty Tina, I appreciate that.
Thank you Gene for the heads up. Appreciate you looking out. Gotta be careful
Very glad to hear stories like this. You are correct. First zero turn!
I worked for John Deere for thirty years and putting Kawasaki engines on their mowers was the best thing they could do. In my opinion the best engine ever used on mowers!
30 yrs. Nice Terry. Congratulations. Glad to hear you say that. Thank you for the information
Yes the steering is great but touchy. I try not to step on the deck as well. Nice mower
Thank you AJ, really appreciate the comment
Thanks for the video
I Have a XDX 60 and I love it. I hope you enjoy cutting as much as I do now. But
Great information. True only choke once. Ty I always do the recommended maintenance. I'll follow the manual
Thanks for the info! Congrats on your new toy. So glad Grandma is around to keep you boys in line and guide you on how to sign off! 🤣. God Bless ❤️
Congratulations Blade, I sure am enjoying mine. Good to hear you like Hustler
Thank you! So far I’m really enjoying the mower. No issues whatsoever
Good morning Ralph, Chad and Lea Ann! Nice toy Ralph, and I'm sure all your wonderfully complete reviews help a lot of folks. Blessings on you all!
Thank you!
Probably the best review of the XD. I bought one a few months back. Have 20hrs on it and he is spot on with everything he said. I was also going for the most value for the dollar just liked you explained. Awesome work!
I really appreciate your comment Benjamin. Best value for the dollar is very good summation. Ty
What are they running price wise? I’m looking at getting a new zero turn and my family has a hustler for the last 10 years no problems but sharpen blades. Looking for a 54” to 60” depending on price difference
Thank you guys!
Nice review. I have a 2014 52" model I've worn the deck out on, so ordered a new deck for it. I'd recommend dropping down those anti-scalp wheels if you haven't already. They come factory in the top holes which don't do a bit of good.
We have a Hustler, and love it. It used to be a chore to get anyone to mow..Now 😂🤣 "WHO mowed?" I had plans to do it today! 😂
We bought a 48 inch Country Clipper. Made in USA, has 0 turn & a joy stick for steering.
Nice, congratulations
I had a country clipper and loved it but the Kohler engine threw a leg out of bed. I traded it on a hustler. I preferred the joy stick but really like the Kawasaki engine.
Good morning Ralph and Chad. Great informational video! Thanks!! Good morning Leanne! Have a great day!
Hi Lana ty
Great video. I have the 54" Raptor X and I love it. It is my first zero turn so it took a little getting used to. I also like the fact that they're easy to maintain.
My first too Nathan, congratulations. I hope we both have them for a long time
My husband and I have been looking at mowers . We have 5 acres to mow this was very helpful . He also is 6 ft 4 and I am 5ft 3 so it looks like we both could use this mower. Thank you for the video. God Bless
Sweet Donna, 5 acres is a pretty good mow. Definitely something beefy. Let me know what you purchase please
Good, honest review Grandpa Ralph, much respect, and as you said research. When you revved up the mower though I half expected the front wheels to pop, it has power....and no Chad, that doesn't mean you can ride around and pop wheelies. LOL
Hahaha Wendy!
Found this interesting and I don’t even mow! Great video Ralph and Chad ! Thanks 🙏
So sorry about your friend. What a tragedy. Glad you have the memories. I agree new equipment(toys) are the best
@@grandpadossfarms ❤
It's great to see an honest review of equipment that everyone can use. Any yard is a work in progress . My grandson calls all mowers a tractor. How is your chicken house holding up ?
Ha all tractors. That coop is very fragile. I'm concerned about the durability. Ok for a backyard coop with a couple birds maybe
Great review of what you like. Love seeing you together and the sign off with grandma helping, perfect!! Have a blessed day 🙏
Thank you Jennifer
Have a great day. Enjoy your new "toy" mower. Love when you show off your new "toys" tools for the farm/homestead. I love both your chanel and Chad's chanel yall are both awesome and I love when the boys choose to be on Chad's Channel I enjoyed getting to see them and how they are changing and growing up and what they are up to and doing with their dad
Thank you Sherry. Appreciate the kind words
I bought a Raptor SD 54" cut, 4 years ago, Zero issues. Cuts great. I mow 2 acres. I'll buy another when the time comes.
Nice looking piece of equipment. I love the tires. Thanks for the review. I would love to have had one of these back in my mowing days. 👍👍👍
Good morning!! Don't worry about your turns and speed Ralph you will get better the more you use it!! I wish it had a roll bar, we always had ex marx we loved them so easy to maintain...have fun!!
Yes Chris I've heard good things about ex marx. I'm terrible right now lol
All good information to start with..
I love when people mention their height.. it's hard to find comfortable anything if your tall and/or have long legs..
Have a good day 🌻🌻🌻
True
I'm looking for a zero turn - Looking at the model that does 1 acre. Laughed at the part about the back of the seat. I'm 74 and am 4 ft 10 in - the back will probably be above my shoulders. Don't know when I'll get mine, but soon I'll be able to make hay.
Awesome Janie!
we have a nice powerful diesel kubota love it plus our kubota zd has a nice comfortable air ride seat wich so nice on the back and a nice dial for height adjuster, and led feul gauge light on the dash and a nice hydroulic lift, and shaft driven deck
Glad to hear Clay ty
I got the 2020 54” SD and got the front suspension forks a month after owning it. I also added a suspension under their seat. I have an acre and a half also. I’ve put about 100 hours on this mower and love it so far.
Very nice
I'm definitely gonna get the forks
What suspension for the seat did you add???
Could you share what suspension you added to the seat?
Great review Ralph! If we had grass and a yard big enough I'd talk my husband into getting me one of those so I could have a new toy. 😁 Thank you for sharing! Hugs and love to you and your family. ❤️✝🤗 Have a beautiful and blessed week. God Bless ❤️✝🤗
Morning Cynthia ty. You have a great day
I just found this video....finally, someone the same height as me doing a review so that I can see how good the fit is! Thanks guys.
Love you grandpa enjoy all your new Toys can’t wait for the next video
Glad your dad mentioned how it does cutting overgrown grass, needed to know that, and I think there's a option for a spring to help with heavy deck lift, thanks for this solid review
Very nice useful mower. Like the fact you can easily service it yourself. Bye now. PS I love Ralph and Chad together. Very entertaining.
Morning Dianna, whatever gets the job done is good!
Do you think they just don't make them like they used to RW?
Many blessings to you all.
Congratulations and thank you for the information.
Yeah I noticed those. I can't go that fast Mario lol
Great video Ralph. I own an automotive repair shop and ppl don't realize how much it takes to work on things now
So true
I just purchased a 2021 Hustler Raptor 42" XL. Love it so far.
Congratulations Ken, I hope it gives you years of good service. Let me know
I found it easy to buy my Hustler here in Australia. mine is the 34" Dash XD.
This a great review. no love for the brand but what it is capable off.👍👍
Congratulations, Yamaha motor. Interesting. I hope we both have them a long time

Sorry, I must of had a brain fart!
Apology it is a Kawasaki motor. FR541V
Oh that is a sweet mower. Congratulations Travis! Now that’s a lot to mow
"It 's what can I get what works for whatever it takes, like I'll pay it, if I get what I want." Truer words were never spoken.
Simple isn't it?
I have a Hustler Trimstar I bought new in 2008 , I mow commercially and it's still going strong. Hustler is all I'll buy
Thank You for this it should be helpful for lots of people God Bless.
Good morning😊 Great choice! I have family that have the bigger mowers. God bless ❤🙏🇺🇸
Good morning grandpa, good morning Chad, awesome mower. Have a wonderful day. ❤
Morning
I own a Hustler SDX 54 and you are correct, Hustler by far are the best mowers.
Congratulations Ralph !! Those mowers are awesome. You deserve it. God bless from East Texas. Little man Adler and Case will love it.
Ty Rena, lol Adler's already been on it
@@grandpadossfarms I figured 😂
I own the same mower and I absolutely love it. My only recommendation would be to install lock washers on the upright handles. One of my bolts backed out due to vibration and I almost had a bad day.
Thanks gentleman. A very good and honest review. I’ve been contemplating buying a Hustler and this review has really helped.
We appreciate that, ty
Congratulations GrandPa! Wow you creeping up on10,000 subs! Awesome...yall stay safe
I know Shirley. Exciting and scary at the same time
Thanks a million! Wanted to see a review or two before buying, now I actually feel like I know what I’m getting already, before bringing it home! Happy cutting
Thank you sir
The best was Jim taking off on it. Go Grandpa Adler👍
The hustler raptor I have is 7 years old with
absolutely, no problems.
Thank you Mike. Glad you commented. Always more to learn. Hope mine lasts that long
