You're right, 100%. Superb nuanced acting to nod that Sosa was in complete control.
Even when Tony makes the power move of throwing the binoculars back to Sosa, Sosa not only catches it but smirks. Then, when Tony says that there could be "chivatos" even in Sosa's organization, it's clear that Sosa is trying to keep from smirking/laughing. Again, power move (Tony....you do not know who is who).
And lastly, when Sosa warns Tony never to screw him over, Tony gets a much more serious look on his face, and out of subconscious nervousness, he reaches out for the binoculars that he had thrown to Sosa a few minutes ago.
Real rap, this film should have won awards! So many layers........

What makes Tony such an amazing character is that his greatest strengths are also his greatest weaknesses. His boldness, his honesty, his fiery personality, his absolute and unwavering belief in himself.
From the start, Tony knew he had what it takes to excel in the most dangerous and deadly situations. All this made him a millionaire and drug kingpin.
It also led to his addiction to cocaine, his loveless marriage, and eventually his downfall and death.
Tony is a perfect example of what can happen when someone truly believes in themselves... for better and for worse.

That's because Tony killed one of Sosa's Main Men. That man had planted a Bomb in a Car, that had a Snitch in it. However, it also had the Snitch's Wife and Children in it, too, so Tony tried to get the Bomb Man to hold off from killing everybody inside the Targeted Car. When the Bomb Man had the Remote turned on, and absolutely wouldn't stop on his own, Tony intervened, by pulling his Pistol, and killing the Bomb Man. That was the last straw! Sosa ordered Tony Montana's immediate execution.
As far as I'm concerned, though, the guy that killed Tony Montana from behind, a guy named Skull, committed a complete act of cowardice, by shooting Tony in the back. The other Assassins, that were shooting from the stairs, and from the front living room. They at least had the guts to shoot, facing Tony!!!!

Tony is a savage. Tells it like it is even to a high level cartel boss on his own turf

Tony was always a peasant. He took over a organization that was already built. Sosa was on another level. Powerful.with political connections.

Jimmy Sousa was the real gangster in this movie and anyone who disagrees is apparently ignorant to the levels of ORGANIZED crime. Tony had JUST left a dishwashing job😂 and now is a promising upstart in the cocaine business but does not understand the LEVEL of ruthlessness or degrees of power control regarding people and government politics in Bolivia thus the cause of his demise

Agreed, yet I think Tony definitely could’ve climbed up the ranks to be as high as Sosa just off his character that Sosa caught on to.
Tony was out there getting high on his supply and fucking up his own life too

@@Spider-Complexion Tony is a low level thug. It is a miracle he got where he did. Even if that hit job wasn't botched, he wouldn't lasted long. The only winner in this film is Fidel Castro for throwing thousands of Tonies out of the country in 1980. No nesestiamos!!!

I like how this fabulously wealthy and charismatic drug lord has the same outdoor setting that everyone else had in the 70's.
