I met a Cuban who lived under Castro. He told me that it was brutal and gave me examples, and Tony's depiction in this film reminded me of what he told me. They say Castro emptied his jails of prisoners to be sent to the United States. That may very well be true, but you could be given a prison sentence for stealing chicken eggs.
true to a tee, prison authorities gathered all inmates in the yards and told them that anyone wanting to go to USA to give a step forward, many of them did, many did not out of fear of trickery or reprisals. I personally knew one of them, the father of a friend that didn't step forward as he was nearing the end of a 3 year sentence precisely for buying dollars to tourists needless to say that he regreted it bitterly, was able to leave 14 years later in 1994, the whole family lives in Miami.
The funny thing is, he's full of shit. He lies about his mom being dead, lies about having no family in the States, lies about the tattoo's meaning, about everything. The rant against Castro and communism is only a Plan B after the guard saw through his Plan A (lying like no tomorrow). The truth of the matter is, Tony most likely was already a hardened criminal and menace, and whatever punishment he suffered from it he both probably deserved and would've gotten not only in Cuba but also most functioning societies
And everything he said is true, as a Cuban I can confirm. I specially relate to the “chivato in every corner” part, I remember when I was a kid and would start complaining about my shitty country my mom would tell me to lower my voice because our next door neighbors were “chivatos” and if they heard they might say something and we may be accused of being anti-revolutionaries which could get us in deep trouble. So glad I got out of that shithole, it boils my blood when I see all these young American commies praising my country, and also saddens me

Personally one my favorite movie scenes ever. You can feel the emotion of this acting.
Watching Scarface withour hearing the f-word is like eating/cooking a cake without any sugar
One reason that explains how he pretty much nailed the Cuban accent and attitude is that he attested to actually having hung out with Cubans and did his best to emulate one. Simple as that. That's all it takes. Epic acting ability like that of Pacino's coupled with some cultural method acting for the sake of authenticity, and a good ear for dialect/accent.
Awesome Pacino.
"There's nothing you can do to me that Castro has not already done."
I'm cuban and this italian nailed that role. well done.
Italians from Italy and Cubans act more or less the same honestly. They both share Latin culture. so obviously this was easy for pacino
@@dl5014 i agree 100%, italians and cubans are strong masculin types culturally. We call it "machismo" and hes got plenty of it
@@EzMoneyy exactly bro! Our Latin machismo is what connects us 😆..being Italian/Sicilian myself me & my family always felt more at home around Hispanics. Alot of ppl in america are ignorant tho & think europeans can't be Latin, which is wierd because it originated from the Romans 😆..all Latin cultures South American & European are uniquely beautiful & strong ❤💪
@dl5014 some latinos look italian. Roman dna flowing around
This Italian? That's Al fuckin' Pacino:)
1:20 Entire World to USA 😂
😂😂😂😂
Russia to the U.S 😂😂
China to USA 😂😂😂
Also cow meat is illegal. They even make “Police TV Shows” where the most common cases were people killing a cow lmao
In the United States you can spend most of your life in prison for stealing from a bakery......it is scary here too.
If Al Pacino wasn't the actor, this movie would be so bad that we wouldn't even know it existed in the first place
I’m Tony Montana what do you call yourself? Gotta love this movie!
I've seen this movie at least 150 times. I loved it as a kid and teenager. Haven't seen it in years though. I need to give it a spin again soon
The way he said...NO NOTHING....
that accent is Gold
You forget it’s Pacino that’s how fucking good this movie is
Al Pacino. To jest dopiero gość.
Znakomity aktor.

Mother?

(Sister lives with his mother)
When this movie first came out they bagged it now everyone appreciates it as a classic especially al pacinos performance
The critics hated it. Your common viewer loved it. I was 14 when I saw it and was in awe by the story and performances.
keep in mind that oliver stone wrote the script for this film while kicking a cocaine habit.
"There's nothing you can do to me that Castro has not already done." Great line.
Ever you take cocaine , marijuana ??
Tony : No , deep down ( i m the king of cocaine paradise )
I love how he stops when they say cocaine
It's one of the best scenes ever shot. The way he played, this speech, everything is a masterpiece.
greatest movie
of all time.👍👍
to see him here and in The Godfather as Michael Corleone is simply unbelievable, don't forget Scent of Woman ,for me Al Pacino is the best actor ever..
Twisted s*** when you get got from the back and you wake up in a new timeline
"You want to work 10 hours a day and have nothing?" Lol I do that in the UK and have nothing
one of the Best Performances for AL
Funny now looking back when this film was widely panned and criticized after release. Nowadays, it's rightly pretty much considered a masterpiece.
Best speech against communism ever.
He's describing living in the U.S., today.
We need democratic socialism. AOC for president!
@@roqbar8764 lmao lol
So glad I got out of that shithole, it boils my blood when I see all these young American commies praising my country, and also saddens me
“There is nothing you can do to me that Castro has not already done.” That’s the truth of what happened in Cuba.
Al Pacino is one of the Best Actors.. He's incredible in this entire movie.
