This model has tons of features and for two or three years used it as our main oven until….the dreaded door close issue arose. There’s a switch which allows the oven to “turn on” once the door is closed. A lever arm attached to the door activates the switch. This arm rides on a nylon roller which over time wears down and the arm hits the switch instead of pressing it down. This 5 cent or so roller makes the oven useless. Repair with a new part and you get another 2-3 yrs of life. Why are items like this designed to fail? Breville, you HAVE TO KNOW BY NOW that this an issue. Design change? The real repair is to replace nylon with a true metal roller bearing. Haven’t had an issue with this conv oven since repair. In fact, we did a COVID kitchen remodel and this oven cooked, reheated, toasted & broiled for 6 months straight. We used the conv oven, our grill outside & a small microwave oven. Five stars for GREAT features and ease of use. Minus two stars for designing obsolescence so you throw it away and buy another."
What about the problem with the door? It breaks over time. Is there any solution for that?
