I am a small guy and I ccw a 4" GP100 appendix in a JM Custom Kydex holster so it is possible. Everyone IS different though so idk. I also have an SP101 but chose to use the GP100 for ccw because it is much easier to shoot. Love the SP101 and it is tons of fun but for defense I'll go with the GP100 any day.
Great video! I went for the 357 mag because of velocity. So having it in a snubby defeats that purpose except that it's still more powerful than my Glock26. So my choice for concealed carry is the RIA AL3.1 2" snubby in stainless. But for all day open carry, my choice is the GP100 7-shot with 4.2" barrel. I can almost get away with concealment in an appendix carry IWB if not for the large grip. But it's my range/ranch gun. So I don't even bother.
I have both, a 4 inch GP100 and a 3 inch SP101. I conceal carry the SP101 most of the time. I compete and open carry the GP 100. The GP 100 will handle anything I hike into in Arizona.
That's exactly what I intend on doing, getting 5 inch gp100 for hunting/fishing, and a sp101 3 inch for cc in outdoor places where you don't want people knowing that you are packing!
Just wanted to say thanks for the review, and it is absolutely required to clean every gun after shooting any amount of rounds through it, i would never shoot a gun and put it away dirty then shoot it again with powder residue and lead fouling in the barrel, i don't think anyone should do that with any gun, not even a 12 gauge shotgun
I got a 3" sp101. I have a Hogue grip too. It shoots just fine. I just got a Diamondback SDR. A 6 shot .357. It shoots great and it's smaller than the SP101. You should get one. I put a Hogue grip on it too.
Thanks for the video bro. Very thorough comparison probably one of the best out there. You got me sold on that snubby GP100. I’ve had 6 and 4 inch versions of the GP and loved them. Had a couple SPs and really liked them too but I think if I could only choose one, and I have to because my wife insists that I spend money on stupid sh1t like the mortgage and electric bills instead of cool stuff, I will choose the snubby GP.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Thank you. If you get a snub gp, get the 7 round model! It wasn't in production when I got this one, but I think they are now (unless I am mistaken). Every round counts!
Great video man . I have a go100 4" with iwb , and owb holsters. There are some compact grips for the gp100 that help with the concealment. Also size up your t-shirt if you want to carry a full size gun perhaps. Jmo
a HUGE advantage of a pocketable snub nose is you can have your hand on your weapon in your pocket 'pre aimed'. something to consider with size and carry options
I have a 3 inch GP 100 and the same size SP 101 as you have. I live in Florida and carry IWB with an Azusa IWB holster ( 2 sizes) and I carry either one of these with no problem. I carry at 3:00 position

There is truly no comparison....the gp100 all day long....sights on the SP are insufficient....ive upgraded the gp100 2.5 inch to night sights and after carrying and firing both, its a no brainer....

This was an absolutely awesome review, literally what I was looking for. Keep it up 💪

I don't think I've ever carried the sp in my pocket. It's still kinda big for that
Only until the hammer binds up in the pocket material.
Hammerless is MUCH better !!
You convinced me im getting a belly band.
Heck yeah! In my Amazon link, under the holsters tab, I have the belly band I use, there.
Just got it, let's see if I can carry my 4" gp100.... at least I can get by with my 10mm m&p with a hoodie

Ruger really ought to upgrade the sights on the sp101. If it had an adjustable rear, it would make a huge difference
