Even though the performance sounds shit when you listen back, the atmosphere at the gig was great. I was 16 at the time and was there. I happened to bump into Ian before the gig and had a short chat. Orbital came on afterwards and they topped off a magical night - one I will always remember.
This was the best gig I've ever been to. Aged 17 and heading to Dublin for the festival with mates. Earlier in the day, Brown and Bez went for a walkabout. Can still remember being at the front for the Roses, buckets of water being thrown at us by security to keep us cool, as Resurrection played and all our hands were raised. Beautiful
@@m.s.t3616 Ha, i can imagine. I hitchhiked from Belfast, slept in a ditch by the side of the road in Portlaois on the Friday, got a lift to Cork at 5am in the back of a van with some mad Dubliners and slept in Cork Citys stadium before the Roses on the Sunday...mad times
@@mysecretworld6603 you see that’s more rock n roll than a prepaid “package” trip from Manchester! My accommodation was luxury compared to you :) And to my shame, I didn’t appreciate just how good the line up was. I skipped Massive Attack and Tricky like a fool
What a weekend. They sounded better there then on here. Their old stuff was amazing live. Best weekend ever. I cannot believe it;s almost 21 years since I saw this live
God, this brings back memories. They sounded so much better there in person, They smashed their old stuff. Had so much fun that night and the whole weekend for that matter, How I miss Féile. They tried having it in Dublin after this but it was never the same. Thanks for sharing this video. Great times
I was in Páirc Uí Chaoimh that night and the music, the people and the vibe were electric. Saw Ian Brown a few years later in Sir Henrys touring with Unfinished Monkey Business and he didn't disappoint. Will be in the Phoenix Park on 5th July and I can't fucking wait!!!!! They were the sound of my generation
I never thought i wud ever see them again after féile 95 & oh by god i did last thurs nite in dublin.....total magic, ive waited 17yrs & it was totally worth the wait! The roses r back...cant wait 4 the new material!!!
I'm reminded of Reni's tongue-in-cheek comment re. this gig at the 2011 press conference: "I didn't think I was very good." Reni had left the Roses in March '95. Says it all really tbh 😂😂
Remember crimson tonight the 4 track e.p that came out featuring breaking into heaven , daybreak, your star will shine and tears( might have got some of these muddled)? Wish they'd released the whole concert on cd - Daybreak sounds incredible 😊
Never seen this footage.....Amazing gig wish i had been there but lucky enough i saw them at Brighton and Wembly!!DO U have anything more from this gig??
@TheAlistairDick I'm pretty sure Ian Brown doesn't get out of it like he used to on drugs before going on stage anymore, check out some of his more recent live stuff solo
Not their best performance (or sound quality) in an otherwise stunning gig. I have a four-track CD from this show (Daybreak, Breaking Into Heaven, Driving South & Tightrope) and they were superb that night. Ian sings the acoustic number (Tightrope) absolutely beautifully - he just had trouble singing over John's guitar which was always turned up very loud on the heavier numbers, and ended up shouting rather than singing. It's also hard to sing in tune in a low key, ask any singer.
@MrAJR76 thats the crimson tonight EP correct? i know what your saying about squires guitar overpowering browns vocals, it didnt give ian the chance to take his natural, relaxed approach to singing
I fucking adore the stone roses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i really do. but any fan knows this is utter shit, im sorry but ian you fucked this!!!!!!. Long live The Stone Roses.!
Ian might not be the best singer going but more then makes for it with his pres-sense, songwriting and melodies. During this tour he has sing over John's 4 Fender twin hot wired amps which didn't help. Even SInatra would have struggled singing over those amps/
There were 4 on stage but 2 were live and 2 back ups as John tended to run the twins very hot and they had a tendancy to blow tubes.. But still, 2 twins are bloody loud!!
Can you blame John Squire for walking out shortly after this? With Reni departed the chemistry was gone. Plus unfortunately for Monkeyboy auto tune had yet to be invented. I can remember being there, the ominous feeling spreading as it slowly dawned on the audience that the dream was over. So they're about to announce that they're all best mates again tomorrow (18-10-2011)? There goes the legacy.
That whole weekend was OUTSTANDING!!! I have everything that RTE broadcasted on vhs. Must get them transferred.

That "GO!!" before the main riff kicks in gives so much energy. I love'em!!!
Quite a tight performance considering they were about to split. Squire owns this performance.

John Squire 10, Ian Brown 0

This video is all John Squire. Period.
I was there! honestly from the audience point of view everything was note perfect!
Followed up by a magical orbital show also.
That's because we were all singing along and drowning out his shit vocals.
Class! I was there!
How fucking cool is john squire
Thanks for the upload, was also at it. Case of Bavaria 8.6% to keep me company.
I was 17 at this,so proud to say I saw them live before they split.
that was shocking, to see the most amazing band reduced to that still hurts to watch. Here's hoping the new album mends all those memories!
Well the first song was a bit disappointing lyrically

I was there, unforgettable lineup that weekend.Ian Brown was deffo not at his best but it was still thrilling to catch them.

Guitar players fuckin pulled it off perfect, , but Mr Brown made an arse of it!!

Squire is brilliant, Mani is solid, but the drumming lacks the swing of Reni and Ian is just tuneless. Hoping for better next year......
@zimzima888 - robbie jay maddix / reni quit the band b4 this
Browns voice is shit here but its sounds better than their Reading 96' performance.
I thought Reni was white
It's not Reni, they had a different drummer at this time called Robbie Maddix after Reni left
tom richardson Reni was mixed race.
tom richardson lol
It's not Reni anyway.
Reni was black for a while in 1995
but im not complaining about squires guitar overpowering ! that guy is sex on a fretboard
the drummer so great. better than Reni that wuss
Ians not a manc
Drummer tries but far less spirit. Ian has had enuff already.
