      Good popular music is dead. What exists today is nothing more than corporate electronic music that is all about producers and laptops.
      The producers are amazing at what they do but the music simply is not about artists and creativity the way it used to be.

      On that note I remember being followed around the gift store at Universal Studios in Florida on a family holiday in 1990 by some guy who must have been in his late 20's to the point security went up to him. All he wanted to do was ask where I got my Made of Stone tee shirt from (same print as the design for the single) . I am from the UK and picked it up from HMV in London, so some guys knew about the Roses even at that time... I was 15 at the time and the Roses were my life.

      I think you should rephrase that. They're virtually unknown in the USA. In the UK and Ireland they're incredibly well known.They're the kind of band you introduce your younger siblings to when they grow out of the of the dickhead phase...

    1989 La Paz Bolivia. I think I was the only fan back then in my country. No one knew the greatest band of all times. I heard them because my friend's relative came from London. He was a DJ and let me borrow 50 LPs. I listen and recorded a few. But one stuck out... One became my favorite band. Moved to USA in 1993 and almost no one knew them. Ian Brown carried on the spirit but the magic of the band, and the psychedelic moments did not come back with him. I'm so glad to hear them now!

    Been to every Coachella so far..since 99'. I was born in LA, and know The Stone Roses are the best band to ever play there. Hands down- legends. So to all you disco posers that flood the concert these days, wise up, and know your music history. Some Americans actually know good music when they hear it. Others don't. Paul T- knew exactly what he was doing when he booked SR to headline. He made a statement! Quality over quantity.

Been living in LA my entire life and I'm only 21, the crowd was shit. Worse part is you couldn't get to the front even though no one knew what was going on.

    The stone roses saved my life last summer. I woke up listening to daybreak after days of lack of sleep and the jitters. The irony of me being at that Coachella and completely blowing them off just to find out that night that they’ve disbanded is heartbreaking. I’m sitting here in my room in my underwear in the dark rocking out to them at 430 AM 9 years later via TH-cam. I hope they around together soon. They Stone Roses we so underrated. I hope they’ll have a tour again 🙃

    • @virtualvalium
      @virtualvalium 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +A New Horizon There's too many to name, but certainly not Reni.
      I've heard before that he's "the best drummer of his generation", which is reasonable for a generation but still, what generation? Are we talking years or genre or both? but to be considered the best rock drummer is ludicrous since only the 2nd album was rock and other artists have decades of work behind them.

    • @Purpleskyshorizon
      @Purpleskyshorizon 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Lee Robson
      Oh, no, I just meant who's your favorite?
      He just always amazed me with the way he made a 3 piece drum kit sound so much bigger. Even Pete Townshend compared him to Keith Moon back in the 80s.
      But, yeah, there are so many amazing drummers. He was just always a personal favorite of mine.

    • @virtualvalium
      @virtualvalium 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +A New Horizon Yes, I've seen that quote. Wonder why he didn't use anything larger.
      Well, my favourite is probably Vinne Paul from Pantera. Metal band and totally different to this but not only do I like his grooves and the way he locks in with the guitar, he's just an awesome guy.

      +dean luff Sadly, I have just recently gotten into the first. I am angry with myself.
      1) I understand how the departure in sound turned some off.
      2) It's a fucking great album.
      3) The musicianship on both blows bands like Oasis and Blur and those other "Brit Pop" acts out of the water.
      4) I hope they make another. No fanfare, just make it and drop it on their own. Then, if interest, work with a company to promote, etc.

    I am a huge Roses fan and was at the front row of this set. It's hard not to be underwhelmed by the performance as Ian's vocals really did let the show down. Not to say it wasn't good as it definitely was, Fools Gold guitar solo was insane. But when someone is blatantly singing out of tune, you can't cover it up by saying it's not an important part of the show. They had a chance to blow Americans away with an amazing show, instead it was just an average show with moments of greatness.
