I was actually looking at these this weekend on Amazon. I wasn't sure if I wanted one of these or the higher amperage ones (like 55amps). It's nice to see you getting sponsors, Dony and stuff to try out. Technically, we dropped using acetalyne and moved to using propane on our torch. Much much cheaper, but definitely not hotter or faster (and harder to start). I may very well get one of these because of you.
Of all the videos on this machine, yours is the best. I purchased this exact machine this week from Amazon. With a $50.00 coupon I got it for $199.95. After 50plus years of a cuttin torch and being 67 years young, shaky hands, and a little arthritis this should work better.
I have been looking at reviews on this plasma torch for over a year. This is the single best review I have seen yet. Even the expanded metal grate info is fantastic. Thank you for taking the time to do a real review and not just a shill video.
That looks like a nice little plasma cutting machine and it seems to work pretty good. Back a life -time ago I started my first full time job working for an industrial welding supply distributor. The first plasma cutting power source I saw was MUCH larger than that one and you had to use compressed gas cylinders with it. Then the idea of just using compressed air was introduced and inverter technology was introduced so you could have a much more protable machine. Using shop air was a great inovation for sure, but most shop air has water and small amounts of oil and other contaminates so an inline filter was recommended to extend the life of the torch and consumables. This issue may not be as much of a problem now perhaps. Thanks for sharing the video Don...I think any repair shop should have a plasma cutter of some kind. Cheers from NB
Great review, was looking to replace an older plasma cutter, this very well may be the one after seeing your demo. Glad to see you are getting some recognition and sponsorship with some tools to help make you day just a bit easier and more efficient. Not cheap of easy to make these informative videos!
I picked one of these up this past November at a great discount. It truly is impressive. What would take many minutes now takes a few seconds. With a steady hand or better a guide you can make cuts that would be impossible.
I bought one of these and love it. I’m just a weekend farmer and DYIer and for what I do, it’s perfect. I’ve been running it for 6 months trouble free. Thanks for the very comprehensive review, Don. Your work on these reviews is always top notch.
Just had to add another comment. I got my machine last week and had the "instant learning curve" syndrome. Primarily getting the Amps/PSI combination perfect for a particular thickness. I wrote down and then printed out all your settings in the video as a great reference on where to start fine tuning for my cut. Two Thumbs Up! 👍👍 Thanks again.
Hell yeah great instrumental video plasma cutter cut all different material very clean other than 3/4 " I hope they gave you all the steel for demonstration as well 👍
Got this unit 2 months ago and got it on the Bestarc website. They had a sale and I paid $340cdn delivered to my door. Used it a few times and even cut 3/4 inch steel. Amazing little machine for a hobby shop.
I've been thinking of getting a plasma cutter. Now I just might get this one. It'll do for my needs just fine. One thing I would have liked for you to of included in the video would have been the type of eye protection you used. Thanks
I purchased the largest version, the 65 Ampere one. When I started it, the machine doesn't run. Once the adjustments have been made, I bring the torch close to the piece and it works intermittently, turning on and off. I checked and changed the nozzles, but nothing helped. Since the parent company isn't responding, I wanted to ask you if you can help me understand whether it's the machine that's having problems or whether I'm making some settings wrong. I'm sending you the same video that I sent to the parent company so that maybe you can understand something about it and give me a hand.
It's interesting seeing how some of these tools are getting to the price point that home DIY or individuals can fabricate things that were thought only to be possible if you had enough money to pay a commercial fab to make it for you. Devices like that all in one welder and cutter box you demonstrated recently, the drill-shaped stick welder, 3D printers, small lathes and mills are getting closer into the hands that small makers can do this kind of thing. I recently bought a vacuum desoldering gun that I got to play around with and being just over half the price of the Japanese brand will keep me going for now. The individual parts and consumables are also fairly easy to get a hold of. What capacity of air compressor is required to run it?
Hey, I saw the vid and took just 2 minutes to get ordered...Was delivered today...will need to set up 20ft extension cord that will work with existing 220 receptacle on wall and the welder 220 plug...will up date when up and running.
Of all the reviews and testing of this plasma torch on TH-cam, yours is the one I have shared with several other friends who are also interested in getting one. I'm the guinea pig. :-) Just ordered mine today plus a kit of consumables. Have you used the torch without the Wire Guide on the ceramic shield? I'm going to be cutting out .22LR rimfire silhouette targets using a "reverse" template and the wire guide won't allow the finer detailed shapes I need. I realize that the consumables might wear out quicker but the cost is negligible compared to the need. I do recall seeing one guy take the wire guide and the shield off for gouging a pilot hole in very thick steel plate to get an interior cut started rather than try to drill a hole in 3/4" plate for the torch to start in. Thanks again for the video.
Good job, I just bought one, will try it this week. One question, did you have to drain the machine during your demos? I noticed my air compressor generates some water when I drain it down.
Hello Don. Nice video ! If my air compressor is set to 120PSI Can I connect it to the BTC500DP ? If not, what is the maximum air pressure the BTC500DP can handle from an external air compressor ?
No one who knows anything about "free" health care doesn't know that we pay for it visa our taxes. We know it's not "free". What our health care costs have to do with the price of this unit is "nothing ".
LOL, our Healthcare is not free. Why do Americans always think this? Nothing is free in this world except death. Public health care in Canada is funded by a tax paid by Canadian citizens and permanent residents. We just don’t open our wallets to pay at the Dr Office.

Wow, thats a nifty little machine Don. Nice and thanks for showing us. Great job 👍

It's a great little machine!
Best review I have seen on this unit. Thanks
Well done sir. Direct and to the point but simple enough for those of us with zero experience. Thank you.
Yes anyone can use this effectively in an hour or less!
Nice clean cuts Don, very impressed. Thank you for the demonstration.
Compact, versatile, well made, inexpensive . . . great for the home handyman
Thanks for the review! We purchased one of these, I just haven't used it yet 😁. Looking forward to trying it out. Take care!
i am now ordering one. Thanks for the review

It's an amazing machine for the price, I paid $3000 10 years ago for a Hypertherm 45!
Wow it cuts like a hot knife though butter 👍🏿

they sure have come a LONG way in plasma cutters today....this is pretty cool
Looks great and I’m sure very handy 😊. Thanks
I bought a multi machine years ago and have never used it. Thanks i think i will dig it out and play with it
Wonderful presentation. This sold me! What a great little machine! Thank you!

That could cut right through everything huh AWESOME VIDEO THANK YOU
I was surprised myself!
Great Information. Trying to decide on which cutter to buy for a few days but bought this one right after I saw this video. Great job!!!
For the price you can't beat it, hopefully it lasts!
What size of a Compressor would i need to operate this on the 110V cutting no larger than 1/4" plate ?
Where is the amp chart setting for material thickness?

Hope you’re wife is doing better ❤
Thank you, it's a slow progression downwards.

I've only used it with the metal guide, it's a great little machine for the price! Hopefully it lasts.
Excellent video, very informative. Thanks
Thanks Dony
Great video of plasma cutter..just ordered one. Have you tried a tig welder yet.
Thank you

Nice video Don. The review you did on the handheld stick welder, can someone with no experience use it? Thanks again.
Fantastic video
What's the amp draw rate at the 50 amp setting?
Usually I scoff at machines like this, but for $200, I'm tempted to try it.
My hypertherm 45 cost around $3000
@@donyboy73 All my welding and torching equipment is Miller, so I was looking at that...
Glad it is dual voltage so if you don't have a 220 outlet in your shop
My oxygen acelylene torch costs so much to use (refill) this would be better? Sure cuts nice!
Watched your video and bought one. Thanks. 12:12
Good job, I just bought one, will try it this week. One question, did you have to drain the machine during your demos? I noticed my air compressor generates some water when I drain it down.
No, I just drained it when done using it.
Hi Boss
I’m not a welder by any means. Or a Plasma 15:04 Torch user but… what are the advantages of this devise over a cutting wheel/grinder ?
Much faster!
Hello Don. Nice video ! If my air compressor is set to 120PSI Can I connect it to the BTC500DP ? If not, what is the maximum air pressure the BTC500DP can handle from an external air compressor ?
I keep mine at 90psi
I have had mine for a year now guess I better take it out of the box😂
It had to work on the 3/4 Flat bar. I think it’s real good for 3/8 though
Very cool!
Be nice if it had a wheel so the travel could smoother.
I think there are some on amazon
Ho ho ho. Don got himself a new toy. Pretty nice Don. If I were 20 years younger I'd be shopping for 1. Great video Don. Thank you.
It's never too late Gord!
When companies send you products for reviewing, do get to keep them?
👍
My concern is one should do a review after 6 months to a year and see how long it lasts.
I will
I just got this and no way it ways 30 lbs maybe 10 at the most
The ground is not "negative" it's actually the "positive".
👍🏼
The price on Amazon jumped up $50 since I saw this video a week ago.
Mine was $199.95
You burnt a hole in your cable covering. 😮
$200.00 USA vs $400.00 Canadian........Maybe that "free" health care isn't exactly free?.......
And your health care is free?
No one who knows anything about "free" health care doesn't know that we pay for it visa our taxes. We know it's not "free". What our health care costs have to do with the price of this unit is "nothing ".
@@poochie49 no it's not all free, I've been a caregiver to my ill wife for 21 years and believe me it's expensive being critically ill!
