You're not gonna want to come out here as often as you should." It took me a while to realize this. When my small (6ft x 15ft) workshop was a mess, I subconsciously avoided it. All those lost opportunities because I couldn't admin my space. Good advice for us all.
Thank you for the kind words and the insight to not apologizing for what I think is OK. You know how woodworkers are they can be a divisive bunch and the most incredible community in the world. Kind of a conundrum sometimes huh?
Five years later, this video still inspires 😁! I’ve been wondering if french cleat + magnet strip might be a good combo, looks like the answer is yes! Cheers!
I like French cleets beeter than peg board. Especially the way you used the magnets for screwdrivers. I would never have thought of that. I LOVE TH-cam!! TH-camrs, like yourself, make this a great experience to learn from. Thanks, and keep the videos coming!
Thanks Chris! I am moving to a French Cleat system in my home garage, and this is exactly what I needed to see. Looking forward to finally keeping things organized and accessible!
Thanks for the motivation. I'm a plumber by trade and am starting my first hand made shop. Bench, french cleat wall, shelves, etc... Great videos. Lots of fun useful ideas. 👍🛠️🗜️📐
When I go searching for solutions on TH-cam, I look for the easiest first. TH-cam needs more simple 5 min solutions for complicated (sorta) problems. I feel some content creators (not all) like to flex more than solve in their videos. So this is great. Don't be shy about creating simple solutions like this, market it in your headlines. "Dirt Simple, cheap, but great hand tool storage". Good, fast, and cheap solutions are very rare.
Simple doesn't mean it's not a good idea for a video. Gotta share all the ideas! It's all about community and having fun while doing it. Looks like you did both 👍 keep it up!
Never apologize for how you choose to get the job done in your shop! I have some magnet strips in my garage and you've inspired me to make them a part of my tool board !
Those magnets are amazing. I have them laying in the back of every drawer of my tool box too. My sockets, drill bits, wrenches, screwdrivers all lay on one. Keeps them organized when a drawer gets yanked open and slammed shut.
From one Jacksonville woodworker you another your tool wall is amazing. I’m slowly converting my shop over to all French cleat and your videos are quite inspirational.
How wide are the cleats on the wall ? At about the 4:11 minute mark, it shows the wall, and the cleats look to be only about an inch wide. But they seem to be holding a lot of stuff.
NICE French Cleat wall Chris!! I enjoyed your video on the French Cleat System. Hoping to get my shop looking better with a FC system. Thanks for the Videos
Heck yeah, magnets for the win! I'm a drawers kind of guy, but same process - magnet strips screwed flat to the drawer bottom I can lay out all sorts of them and they don't roll around in the drawer. Thanks for sharing!
That’s a really good catchphrase. Magnets for the win. I think I’m gonna use that next time I use them. Always good to hear from you sir I appreciate all your support
Hey Chris! Your French cleats are some of the best ones I’ve seen. You’re getting me motivated to build a wall like yours. I like the flexibility of being able to change it up. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much Bern! I appreciate you letting me know all those kind words sir. Sorry it took me a while to respond but I always appreciate it buddy
Like the ideas. I use my magnets above my assembly table (small shop so it's my table saw) to hold my pencil (nut on end) common drill bits and screw bits. Makes things so much easier to find during assembly. You can use the idea in a video if you want.
Hi Chris, Not sure how long after a video that you stop reading or commenting. I am a new-ish follower and enjoy watching your vids. Thank you for your information and ideas. Big or small, everyone can build off each idea. I am rearranging my garage and have been watching to use french cleat ideas for the back wall. I’ve inherited my father’s shop, but it need an overhaul. I thought about revamping his pegboard system, but this is sooooo much more flexible. I might tear it down and start over with French cleats! Thank you!
Hey Chris! I have really enjoyed all your videos and I've learned a lot as well as been inspired to come up with my own solutions in the shop. Thank you!! I hope you and your family all have a great day!!

This is a common issue with no solutions or ideas that I’ve found so far. I just got a magnetic strip I couldn’t pass up for change at harbor freight and now I know exactly what I’m doing with it. Thank you...

As such, I keep having to rearrange, pull stuff down, and move it again. I started with pegboard because it was what I had on-hand. I keep having to move stuff, though. I'm mainly focused on how long it took for the big changes to stop.

As for getting things exactly organize well I think that’s some thing that will always be continuously changing and evolving. I’m not sure if I would like a shop completely set with everything exactly where it’s going to be forever. I think I like changing things around a bit keeps things interesting
