  • Too much time wasted looking for my tools, its organisation time! This French Cleat Tool Wall allows me to have everything within reach and out where I can see it. All the tool holders can simply be lifted off to be used and put back wherever there is space.
    French cleats are a simple concept, and you can make this system as large or small as you like.

      Thanks C H, are you also the owner/maker of a tool wall? I’m always fascinated to hear how people find my videos and what they do (for living or in their spare time)

      Sorry, I'm not the carpinter, my husband is. But I'm always looking for new projects for him. 😊 He enjoys wood working and I love watching the you tube videos. Thank you for sharing. Hello from New York. 👵

      @@CH-uf3jp that sounds like a great combo, my wife does the same quite often. Pinterest inspires her and she inspires me :) If you’re interested, I’ve also made a few videos called “Easy Peasy”’which are aimed at simple projects you can do with minimal tools, if you ever decide to join your husband in making a thing.

      It´s what we call Appelblauwzeegroen, basically a name to describe something weird inbetween green and blue

    I think you need more clamps! p.s. love the explanation of where the French cleat came from! lol

      The Grant Alexander , that is exactly right, I’m planning some homemade BigAss clamps for the near future. Got a table build in mind and I don’t want to spend a ton on long clamps

      wow, yes, I just looked up carolina blue paint at Lowes for example and that is pretty much exactly it. Good that other people appreciate that color besides the former owners of my old workshop.

    1 question, what species/type of wood are the cleats made from?

    • @ProjectsandThings
      @ProjectsandThings  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Frank, thank you very much! The wood is actually green mdf that was laquered in that insane blue color. It was wood that made up the fronts of all the kitchen cabinets in that house. So it´s quite strong mdf and the lack layer makes that things slide around on it very well.

  • @mathewgallimore1484
    @mathewgallimore1484 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you find that the mdf comes apart?

    • @ProjectsandThings
      @ProjectsandThings  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Mathew, so far so good. It´s green mdf on the inside, which is a lot denser than the standard MDF sold at stores, and also it has that thick blue lacquer on there. So I normally would not make this out of mdf, but the kitchen was going to be destroyed anyway so I took my chances. Overall it seems very sturdy and I have a bunch left to still use up

      @@ProjectsandThings it looks very colourful and impressive. Glad it works well, I personally opted for plywood due to the concerns of MDF's stability.

    dimensions?

    • @ProjectsandThings
      @ProjectsandThings  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The plywood sheet itself is 244cm by 122cm and the blue strips were 10 cm wide before I cut them diagonally at 45 degrees through the center. So they are roughly 4 cm wide on the short side and 6cm wide on the long side.
      as you see in the video the spacer block in between them is roughly 2 cm wider than a cleat. to give space to slide them in and out.
