is a series of action-adventure video games based on the DC Comics character Batman, developed by Rocksteady Studios[1][2] and WB Games Montréal, and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The first two Rocksteady games were written by veteran Batman writer Paul Dini and featured voice actors Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill reprising their roles as Batman and the Joker, respectively, from the DC Animated Universe (DCAU). The first game, Batman: Arkham Asylum (2009), focuses on Batman trying to prevent the Joker from destroying Gotham City after he takes control of Arkham Asylum, and he (Batman) is forced to contend with numerous other villains he has incarcerated along the way. The second game, Arkham City (2011), is set a year later, after Professor Hugo Strange develops Arkham into a massive super-prison enclosing a neglected segment of Gotham City; Batman is incarcerated and must uncover the secret behind Strange's sinister scheme, "Protocol 10", while slowly dying from an illness inflicted by the Joker. The third game, Batman: Arkham Origins (2013), serves as a prequel set several years before Arkham Asylum, in which a younger and less-refined Batman must deal with eight deadly assassins contracted to kill him by crime lord Black Mask on Christmas Eve, while also encountering the Joker for the first time. The fourth installment, Batman: Arkham Knight (2015), is Rocksteady's conclusion to the series. Set 9 months after the events of Arkham City, Arkham Knight sees Batman facing Scarecrow along with the mysterious Arkham Knight (and his militia), as well as numerous other supervillains[3] who have seized control of Gotham City in a plan to destroy Batman, both physically and mentally. The franchise has also seen the release of various mobile games, and a virtual reality game, Batman: Arkham VR, also developed by Rocksteady.

I love how no one dared to touch on the batman games for a good long while until rocksteady came in and they made possibly the best batman games to hit gaming...Rocksteady and the Arkham games will always be remembered for being the company to bring batman back and for being such amazing games.
There were a lot of batman games before during and after these. Rocksteady, yes made the best ones, plus origins, but there have been others.

The fact that every single Arkham game looks distinctive yet they all somehow retain the same tone is very underrated on Rocksteady and WB Montreals part. They didn't do sequels just for the sake of sequels each game felt different and amazing
Origins is 100% a prequel for the sake of it. Adds nothing. Money grab

@@AliTahan25 yeah, people seem to forget that witcher 3, uncharted 4, mad max, battlefront or pretty much every AAA games had the same graphical quality and still looks good to this day. Shit, most of the games from the last decade looks good at ultra settings.

City had the best boss fights for me, the bane boss fight was a downgrade of Mr freeze, and the deathstroke was a copy of the hand to hand section of r'as Al ghull

I got the Arkham collection on Steam for $9.. it was $60! I cant believe the first game is only 8GB I can download this thing in 10 minutes and start playing.. unlike nowadays it takes hours to download 50+ GB games. Man 2005-2015 really was the golden era of gaming, I don't think we will have anything like it again, at least so far this RTX ON photorealism era with VR growing on the side just doesn't feel the same as the good ole days.

Batman suit is unbelievably huge in Arkham Origins.

Or it is because the technology isn't avaliable to offer the same protection as the other, less bulky, suits at the time of origin. We see more protection being offered in origin by the same suit as we upgrade the suit. As a real life example, mobile phones were really bulky early on but over a period of time they became better and became less bulky. The same could've happened with the batsuit.

loved the green filter they used in arkham asylum
I noticed his cape in origins and asylum is more rounded and the tips arent as pronounced as in city and knight. And knight definitely looks sleeker, not just cuz of the weather.
They are all cool games. This was a nice comparison. Big like for a well done video.
Origins's exteriors are worse than City's imo but the interiors, my god, WB Montreal were on another level entirely: the lighting, the composition, everything was top notch.
After having played all of them, I seriously don't know which one's better. Each one does something better than the other, but I guess City and Knight are the better ones, because they each brought a lot of innovations (City: Dive bomb, multi-counters, disarm&destroy, blade counter, multi-takedown, a plethora of other gadgets ; Knight: fear takedowns, Batmobile (for better and worse) more verticality in the predator encounters) which we didn't even realise would be good additions.
The Arkham series came in like a truck. Nobody saw it coming, but we all welcomed it with open arms. Seriously one of my favourite gaming franchises

I really love the Origins suit than the Arkham city and asylum suit. Its more bulky and Strong looking Batman. Imo....but my favourite Batman suit is arkham knight Batman beyond suit

@@LetMeBe3 but it's not an improvement? The old one could scan situations and play them in the form of a hologram, and was way more protective with all those layers. But the new one wasn't.

Arkham City: Best Boss Fights(Mr.Freeze)
Arkham Origins: Best Story (Nailed Joker and Bane)
Arkham Knight: Best Gameplay + Graphics (Combat + Predator perfected)
I would give boss fight to origins bane Deathstroke and copperhead were absolutely fun
I kinda like the whole noir feel to origins I wish they would make backwards compatable or remaster it
It's backwards compatible on the Xbox One and Series X, if you have one of those.
Knight is just fricking amazing, the graphics, the aesthetics, the sound designs. It might be a dark toned game but it plays like my first crush

I have to try Arkham Knight to see how it looks in the game before I can truely say what one my favourite. I prefer Origins out of the games before it as it looks less like a halloween costume and more like a soldier. I might comment again when I finish downloading Knight for the second time.
One of the reasons why I like the Return to Arkham remaster is that they fixed Batman's face in Asylum and made it look younger. I don't like how in the original version he looks older and with wrinkles even though its a prequel to City and he looks younger there.
I'm playing Return to Arkham as of now, and it looks incredible. The cutscenes aren't much better than the original really, but they fit the game's graphics, which I prefer rather than over the top cutscenes
The only problem o got with return to Arkham is that Arkham city was dropping Frame rate during gliding(while knight with a lot heavier graphics is smoothly) .other than that its one of the most worth buying titles,3 epic games and even better premium editions.i have 0 Problem of knight not being in cd like the other 2
well its cause he's a little older there batman Arkham asylum is him being batman almost 7 years in batman Arkham origins u can see his youngness in the face hence its 8 years before Arkham city took place so obviously in 7 years he's gonna age and it looks better like that more realistic

Why does Batman's character model look so much better in Asylum than in City?
They added a more blue-ish tone than the scary dark green tone suited for the asylum

Origins and Knight lacked that Burton-esque quality that oozed out of the first two games. Something really fantastical and mystifying in the overall design and aesthetic of Asylum and City that I can't perfectly describe, they were gritty but they had moments of charm, like something out of a Disney film.
Knight and Origins still had it, just lesser degrees than the first 2. Especially given their focus on holiday aesthetics

I know that this is an unpopular choice but Batman Arkham Origins is my favourite Arkham game even though it's not made by Rocksteady

Futuristic technology can look less realistic. In Knight we are seeing the Batman at its end but at Origins we see it at the start. I don't know if this is correct but there is around 6 years between them and a lot can change in half a decade.

Arkham City is best for me, and as I can see for the most of us(but of course someone gonna text me that he's favorite is Arkham Origins or anything else). Arkham Asylum is almost the same for me, but it have more simple plot and some moments that I don't appreciate. City have it too, but less. Arkham Origins and Arkham Knight is great games, but not as first two. Arkham Asylum and Arkham City is one of the best games ever made
putting origins aside, I think the arkham trilogy is somewhat nolan's trilogy:
ASYLUM - BEGINS: very well done, some rough edges, but very enjoyable and fun.
CITY - TDK: the absolute best in the series, an untouchable gem.
KNIGHT - TDKR: misunderstood by many, filling a very big shoe from its predecessor, but overall a great story.
Bonus: Origins - a graphic novel prequel that no one cares that much about, but deserves some more attention.

Still kinda sad that they ditched the artistic designs in the first 2 games in favor for a more tacticool Batman. I do get why Origin being more of a safety net armor and Arkham knight out of necessity in a on-going hostile takeover.

For me, they all have nostalgia. Its just arlham knight plays on arkham asylums nostalgia instead of creating its own. And small details bother me. Like how crime alley was different in each game. And little stuff like that.
