You did some things wrong, you were supposed to use the Liqui-moly engine oil flush before dropping the oil and also did not add the ceratec engine oil additive.
#OhBaby ProTips: Get a box of drain plugs and keep them in the car, since they are only $2-3 each. Replace the drain plug after every 3-4 oil changes. Inspect the threads after each oil change, since they strip over time, especially when the BMW dealer does the work. I think the N55/S55 engines takes 6.5L of 5w30 Oil, but #LiquiMoly offers a more commonly available 5w40 Oil. Look for the gold lettering and the German label Leichtlauf High Tech SAE 5W-40. Leichtlauf means smooth/easy running. BMW oil grade is LL-1, as in Long Life. UPGRADES: You can upgrade the plastic oil cap (swap the rubber gasket) and oil filter housing cap (swap the cage) to anodized billet aluminum. Goes nicely with the BMW carbon fiber engine cover, so you can be cool like MikeH at #FCPEuro.
