I feel your pain. I have done and had a gardening business, and currently have a window cleaning business, which I have cut back on, as I am a qualified personal trainer. But people are a headache in respect to the gardening and window cleaning. They expect high quality for cheap-yet they can afford the Land Rovers and Tesla parked on the drive.
Hi Mike, I agree it's definitely gone quick this year, I've had a house move on top of everything this year so have been busy with all that as well as work, just the October cuts left and then just putting the gardens to bed.👍
I can't believe we have been on holiday already, its been one of the worst for rain. it was weird the rain made the grass grow like mad, but its suddenly slowed right down.
Yes ,I agree this year has flown past , plenty of work on. I am dropping a few general maintenance jobs next year and making more space for one-off jobs.
Not far away from you mate grass is still growing around sleaford I will carry on until it’s stopped. But we might get a mild winter thank god for hegdes plenty of them lined up to keep me going till Christmas
This is my 3rd full year of doing this full time & has been the busiest because I’ve got my two week rota better organised so there’s less travel in between so I can fit an extra job per day. I also seem to have accidentally found a niche because there’s plenty of firms around here that’ll do landscaping or big hedges or trees or attack your garden with a brush cutter but less that’ll do the little jobs like weeding & mowing. Downside is I don’t make a fortune but it’s a living & a lot less stress. Weather wise it’s been loads better I think I lost about 10 days due to rain last summer & this year it’s 2. Lawns definitely slowing down now but not all of them a few have got a second wind from the rain.
Nice if you've made it to your 3third year you'll make it 😉 yeah same around here everyone seems to want the bigger jobs and not the small ones but it's tasking on the body
Issue is that the grass is always greener on the other side. I'm a university lecturer and think that maybe the life of being a gardener would be better. (no money, but just more freedom I guess.)
I'm full commercial and won't even look at a private garden I get paid there are ups and downs but a lot better had one of my big clients go bust in June but other work up there visit and been ok 👍
Same here I had one go bust and owe me about 3k from memory and it worked out better for me as I was passed on the details of who I was working (so kiddle man went under) and now I work direct for them and I get more per visit

Temps are around 10-15c so ground temps are lower than that hence why grass has slowed down as it doesn't grow unless it's above 10c

Don't blame ya earn the same amount doing one job than 30 visits every fortnight
