    Thank you for an eye opening result with an old almost forgotten camera....It is incredible what one can do if one is prepared to nut every ounce of capability from this old work horse...

    Thank you for sharing. I recently picked up a D200 to play around with in addition to my other Nikon DSLR's. Good times! 👍

      Thank you Peter. Glad you enjoyed these pictures. We've already got snow up at the cabin again this year so maybe you will be seeing more winter pictures from me.

    Thanks for the thoughtful video Ron. I've owned a D200 for 20 years and just the other night I took it our and shot some late night sky at ISO1600. Will be digging back into this camera and comparing it with my new Z7ii for astrophotography. All the best!

    I shoot my D700 at ISO 3200 often and these pics show the nice, creamy noise effect as that does. I'll have to try this with my D200. Nice pics! Oh, to have a cabin like that away from the world,

    Thank you for the Advice. Your Tips on the Settings are Definitely Spot On. I’m a fan of the D200’s ability coupled with the 50mm 1.8 for Natural Light Portraits, Products like Lit Candles, Jewelry, and Landscapes. Just back On Memorial Day, I Was up at a Nice local Lake Called Glendale P.A. with my Expecting Gf. We were up there enjoying the lake doing some Cinematic 4k 60FPS Video clips with the Gopro 8 during a Gorgeous Pink, Magenta, Purple & Blue Mixed Sunset reflecting off the lake. The Very Moment I noticed stars filling up the Colorful Dawn Lit Sky, I pulled out My D200 with the 50mm 1.8 & Began taking shots of the Sunset reflecting off that lake. My experience was also pleasantly surprising for the amount of shadows in the On The ground & in the trees. I also shot at F 2.8 and also noticed that photo shop does add too Much vibrance & contrast, So starting over, I was a little confused about how much I should push the sliders. Taking your advice in your video, I was able to adjust the Raw images of that lake area until they looked very similar in natural color & contrast to the one you’ve shot, Edited, printed & showed to the us. Thank you again for the advice on Rendering these Type of Raw Files To Come Out Nice & Natural.

    I agree with your thoughts, keeping it gentle is the best approach for getting the most out of the D200. The results on B&W at 1600 are very tolerable too, but I find that because of the low light I'm more likely to have missed focus or motion blurred, so I generally skip using the camera altogether when it comes to those type of scenes. A beautiful image you chose to print.

    • @rondayview
      @rondayview  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for your comment. For sure the D200 does not seem to have the best low light focusing abilities. I've noticed it most recently while using the 300mm f4 Nikon lens. Thank you for you input. Much appreciated.

    Well, every time I think I need a new camera someone comes along and proves it’s not the equipment but the person using the equipment! Should have kept the D300! Those would look good framed large and proud. And your choice of music is really good, too! Thanks for posting.

    Hi, Ron. No noise to worry about: your pics are a great advertisement for the Nikon D200 - and your wonderful environment. (This week I re-acquired a D200 in nice condition - with only 3,500 clicks on the shutter and at a very good price - and I'm looking forward to using it again.) Nice choice of print, BTW.

    I “treat” my CCD cameras like when shooting film : I usually shoot between 100 and 200 iso but when I need more speed to freeze a portrait I push the iso up to 400 iso and don’t mind the grain. At 800 iso, the color shift starts to show up so I rarely use it.

      I'm in the same boat Tony, I have a good collection also, both digital and film. I just can't see dropping a bundle of cash for mirrorless when I have all these useable, and good, dslr's hanging around.

    Interesting to know the D200 is still getting some practical used. I still have mine and admittedly have not used it in quite a while. I have shot at its max of 1600 as well as at Hi-1 with fairly good results( not as good as yours) avoiding these high settings when shooting people as skin tones will look awful. I’d like to run them through Lightroom’s Denoise to see what can be done with a modern AI noise reduction tool.

    • @rondayview

    PhotoLab editing software by DXO has the best noise reduction algorithm. It's tuned to individual cameras. It supports the Nikon D200 and they added the Nikon D100 last year.
