Great points and nice video! I was at the show and was honestly a little surprised how aged the boat looked that was only 2 years old. The paint was oxidized everywhere and should have at least been addressed, but most buyers won’t notice as the interior was gorgeous. Needing 80hp engines in a 50’ 40,000 pound cat should be a good indicator of performance & how much sailing vs motoring you’ll be doing.
It's surprising how many boats are underpowered and even more so how many are going with sail drives, especially "performance" catamarans. I want a boat that, like you said, can motor when needed. I can only think of around four brands that are shaft driven, which means I will be going with one of those, eventually.
Rob, saw you in Annapolis talking Privilege, though did not get a chance to speak with you. My loss; I had some questions. Are there any upcoming shows that my wife and I can visit to talk to Privilege (you don't have to be there)? Or a good place stateside that we can learn more and get some hand-on time? Thanks.
Hi Patrick, Our single biggest challenge at Privilege Catamarans America is having access to a newer boat that we can show. We have not yet secured the use of a boat for Miami or any other show in the short term. Our clients have been travelling to the boatyard to sea trial and gain access to a Privilege. I'm more than happy to set up time for a phone or zoom call with you and your wife.
@@PrivilegeCatamaransAmerica Well, in that case my wife might get her trip to France. We're about three to five years out from retirement and are looking for a beater boat we can learn on. In the meantime, we're also looking for the "forever boat", if that is a thing. That's why we're talking to builders. I saw your number and email online. Will reach out eventually. Thanks.

Another great video. I miss some of walk-through videos but this was very informative
