This is an excellent video. I have been a big fan of the Bjork recording of this song since it was released in '95. In fact I've long since said it was my very favourite piece of recorded music ever. I know the phonetics of the song from singing along, but i never knew the actual words let alone their specific meaning. I'm a total Bjork fanboy and if someone did a breakdown of Bjork Icelandic lyrics I would watch and like every episode. Good work, well done. 10/10 Greetings from Scotland.

Þú átt að gera myndband/videó aðeins á íslensku. Það væri gaman að sjá hvort ég skildi eitthvað af slikt myndband.

    Great example and explanations! Takk!
The second line with 'fögru steina' - is that accusative or genitive? Or some other complication of poetic expression?

Such a cheerful personality... Really loved the way you explained...
But is it true that the poet wrote it because the man she loved was a clerk and he married the magistrate's daughter thereby leaving her(the poet) devastated and melancholic for the rest of her life while he moved on? And so she wished had she never met him?
Idk please correct me if I'm wrong...

Ása,.. we need some translation help for our Floridian Jólatíma. Basically we are having another Icelandic Christmas here in Florida, so we need 13 new lads for this:
    1) Sun Stealer
    2) Palm Cutter
    3) Wave Crasher
    4) Shell Seeker
    5) Tourist Tripper
    6) Restaurant Rouser
    7) Boat Sinker
    8) Unlicensed Bridge Fisher
    9) Drunk Driver
    10) Lumber Stealer
    11) Solar Panel Swiper
    12) Orange Juice Tainter and
    13) Porch Pirate
They are the sons of MelanGryla and LepaTrumptee. All the visiting kids fear Skuggi the shadowy Florida Christmas cat.
Any translation suggestions? I am thinking this would make a cute book project or video.

Those are not completely trivial to translate! And since it is in Florida maybe you don't have to.
Sounds like a super fun project and a very fun Christmas ahead ❤
