    Thanks for the video.
    I was impressed that this laptop ran newer games to begin with, but the difference after overclocking like this was instantly noticeable. Awesome.

    Thanks for the video on this utility. There's no official manual or guide that I'm aware of for it (and the readme file seems to be written more in japanese than english); so, this provides a helpful start for someone wanting to play around with it.
    Unfortunately, I got distracted as I was watching the video when I felt compelled to try and figure out which of my smoke detectors had a dying battery that needed to be replaced. Later, I realized the chirping was on the video. ;-)

    The wonderful thing about overclocking is that every single chip is completely unique, and no two chips will achieve the same clockspeeds on the same voltages. So, listing clockspeed/voltage settings for someone to use is essentially the same as telling someone to put random numbers that may or may not blow something up into their computer for no reason.

    1) right click on the battery icon in your taskbar-->power options
    2) select "high performance" and then "change plan settings"
    3) "change advanced power settings" -->processor power management-->Max Processor state
    4) make sure both "plugged in" and "on battery" are at 100%, apply everything--> OK

    i've been messing around with various clock frequency and voltage settings all day and this one TheMackSparrow has put together seems extremely stable. was able to play SC2 for a few hours on high/ultra with no issues and fraps was showing higher framerates from stock settings, 30-40fps average. was expected since SC2 is cpu intensive. also ran prime95 benchmark and this OC is significantly better than stock. this is on a dv6-6135dx

    People complaining that they can't get it to work. U have to right click it in the icon tray in the bottom right and check "enable clock" for it to work. it won't actually change on cpu-z unless u hae something running or click the "lock" feature and click on P0. this program does work. quite well infact. i use it to run many games i cudnt before

    my pavilion dv6 (A8-3500m) max voltage is 1.2750v. at that voltage, I start overheating at about 2.8-2.9Ghz, but i dont BSOD until 3.2Ghz! My current setup is this:
    B0: 30-1-1.2750
    P0: 12-0-1.2125
    P1: 9-0-1.1875
    P2: 6-0-1.1500
    P3 16-2-1.050
    P4 20-3-1.0250
    P5 11-3-0.9500
    P6 Default
    Keep in mind the default max speed for this laptop was 1.5Ghz!

    @TwilitAssassin121 Hi Twilit: Yes, I keep this overclock setting on constantly and have had no problems. You would think that such a high setting would fry your chip but it does not stay @ 2.3GHz constantly. The chip will alternate b/w the various lower power states based on usage. For example, if your laptop is idle, it will stay in the 1.3-1.8GHz range.
    P.S.My overclock is actually at 3GHz B0 and, again, I've had no have had no issues. For a 3GHZ boost do: FID=29; DID=1 ; V = 1.28

    In regards to the settings that Richard provided: Remember that no two CPUs are exactly the same, even if they are of the same model. Therefore, it's usually not a good idea to take someone else's settings and use them off the bad, especially if they're more on the extreme side. If you decide to use these settings, bring down the clock speed by 200mhz~ or so and play it safe.

  • @TheMackSparrow
    @TheMackSparrow  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @cursedreject This config will bump up the normal processor speed from 1.5 to 2.3. It will also automatically boost up to 2.84 as needed. The highest clock speed it can achieve is the "overclock speed", hence 2.84.

  • @LeftyRoadster
    @LeftyRoadster 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @TehkProductionZ the cpu has a boost to go to 2.4 ghz as it's highest setting, and this tut makes it so the cpu can boost to 2.84 ghz when running some apps (like games.

  • @TheMackSparrow
    @TheMackSparrow  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @caseezay Hi Casee yup, that pretty much sums it up. With this overclock, the cpu is running at a base level of 2.3GHz most of the time and kicks itself up to 2.84GHz when a more demanding task is at hand, like gaming or video conversion. However, boosting will only happen if temperature permits; it won't boost up to 2.84GHz if it is too hot. inside!

  • @TheMackSparrow
    @TheMackSparrow  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @TehkProductionZ Hi Tehk, this is exactly what overclocking does. Your new base speed will be 2.3GHz. You will see it drop below 2GHz when the cpu is not being used.

    I've had an HP dv7 laptop w/ a 3400m for about 2 years now. At the time I didn't know about the overclocking potential, but once I learned about it I've had it running @ 2.6 any time its on AC. I've torture tested w/ Prime95 and it tops out at 86c after about an hour, but during my normal routine I'll usually max out @ 69.3c according to Open Hardware Monitor - so obviously this chipset has plenty of room to juice over the stock 1.4 and the difference is substantial. It basically turns this chip from solid to burner, all things considered.

    Testing both Macksparrows and Richard128272's setting on my HP DV6 6110us model with AMD A6 3420M processor. So far Macksparrows setting though very useful and informative, caused a blue screen of death for me in about 10 mins. Richards settings however seem to work just fine thus far. Thanks, great video... the only problem I'm having is similar to bstore2.... at b0, I can't up the voltage past 1.3125. I have a dv6-6135dx and it's brand new, no other overclocking software, and I tried reverting to the default profile and then trying again but again, after selecting 1.350, it just changes back to 1.3125. Any idea why this might be happening? Also, can I run this profile with a voltage of 1.3125 for now, or can I damage something running it that way. Thanks!

    @Quashawn51 Great point... I didn't even notice... in the video, TheMackSparrow tries to put 1.35 for voltage in B0, but it defaults him to 1.2875. It seems everyone is having this issue. I don't know what the consequences of running at a lower voltage in the boosted state are; if anyone can shed any light on this, it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    толку то разгонять, если система охлаждения не справляется?я задал постоянную частоту на своем a8-3550mx и он достигает 98 градусов при максимальной загрузке только процессора, при вольтаже 1.2000 и частоте 2700МГц в проге kstat10, это стабильный вольтаж и частота,но он перегреется когда достигнет 107 градусов, можно хоть до 5000МГц разогнать,но не запускать тяжелые приложения и игры, ибо сразу перегрев и сработает защита да и компоненты могут не выдержать

    I too tried this with this with my toshiba satellite, same specs as the 2 above. Luckily I used core temp to warn me if it got too hot and put it to sleep. and it did within 5 min. From what I can figure out theres really not too much point since it can overclock itself to 2.5ghz anyway. I can play just about every new game Skyrim, Rage, mw3 on high, Battlefield 3 is the only thing i've had to lower settings for but its still very playable.

    I just upgraded a clients laptop (hp pavilion g6) from an a4-3300m to the a8-3520m. The benchmarks were a little bit underwhelming for the new processor for me so I overclocked to the 2.2 with 2.86 boost. Prime 95 pumped out 80c after 15 mins and I doubt the client will be using 100% of all cores for longer than that so thats what I left it at. What's interesting is that Windows benchmark was a 7.0 for the processor which means they must have left no headroom what so ever lawls.

    My laptop is also a 14", a Samsung one. I solved the overheating problem by simply opening a hole (sound's crazy, I know) beneath the fan, so that the air can flow freely and be casted out really quickly. Of course, I polished the hole and used a metal grid on it, so it still offer protection for the fan, but the air is sucked easily. I overclocked my A8 3500m to 2,3 GHz with overdrive and my max temps (playing heavy games) is about 77-80° C. 55°C under normal use, like Internet or Office tasks.

After apply/ok was clicked, windows start bar and scramble action and then no program would load to then a bsod. Unsure if under volting it was issue, but it clearly does something to laptops unlike what William Pealer says... It changes the cpu clock multiplier.

    After reading more about K10 software and just testing. I used all the numbers in the video all but the B0 which is the turbo boost? In any case on my laptop I lowered the B0 to a FID 20, and keep voltage at 1.325 the system works fine. and on CPU-Z i have a base core spped of 2300 and jumps to 2500. I guess I can increase the B0 FID up little at a time till it freeze on me again. but at least I got the base speed to 2.3!

    I followed Macksparrow's advice on my Gateway laptop with A8-3500M but saw no change in CPUID (still showed 1.5 - 2.4 range). Further, when I try to run Passmark to see if performance had indeed improved, I get a BSOD with this message :"PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA"...not sure if this is related to the overclock, but it's frustrating. Maybe I'll try Richard's settings.

    Hey guys I did the overclocked but tweaked the B0 to FID 20 DID 1 and voltage to 1.125 now its hovering around 2.410 and kicks up to 2.8 when needed. Since the 3510mx is at max 2.5 why not 2.4 so when boost is needed to 2.8.
    Thx for the guide. These Chips are the best. So far so good.

    @stones117 Nothing is guaranteed but this configuration seems to be very stable on the A8 chip. I had this same config on my A6-3400M with only 2 crashes in 6 or so months. This being a more advanced chip, it can easily handle this modest overclock, in my opinion. So far so good!

    there is a way to make a k10stat auto start upon startup/wakeup. make a shourtcut to k10stat and put it in the startup folder located in Start/all programs/startup. after you put it in there go into the k10stat shortcuts properties and at the end of the target data space twice and type in "-loadpstate -nowindow" this will automatically make k10stat startup in profile1. be extremely careful about what profile you put in 1!!! you dont want to auto load into an unstable profile setting!!!

    Hi guys, regarding the voltage issue:
    1) If you cannot get 1.35, 1.28 is absolutely fine for B0. Not sure why K10 is acting wacky and not letting you guys select 1.35 but I have tested all the way down to 1.21 for B0 with no issues at all.
    2) I cannot make promises but it is highly unlikely that you will damage your laptop by doing this. Remember, out the box, AMD gives the chip a voltage of 1.4 for B0, so we're actually making it run cooler, believe it or not.

  • @bstore2

    Still have the same issue as before, could you please help? Same laptop, follow the video to the T, and nothing changes. System score for CPU sits at 6.6 as it did fresh out of the box.

    How about the temps at heavy loads? My 14"laptop goes hot REALLY quick with Overdrive set to 2.0GHZ (3520m). Temps hit 91C if heavy loads continue on 4 cores. I'm not pushing further... Actually, i'm thinking going to 1.8Ghz... (better than nothing)... What do you think?

    Hey guys, some answers to your questions:
    1) Yes, you have to re-apply these settings in K10STATS when you restart or upon sleep wake. One of the small gags of this homemade program, I guess.
    2) Yes, this will increase the performance of the GPU because the processor unit can pick up more slack when it is running at higher states.
    3) After doing some research, overclocking the gfx card on this HP 6135DX is not worth it. A "safe" overclocking will only yield 1-2+ FPS while +++ voltage by 30%

    Hey, please help me. I was able to open that control center when I first got my laptop, but I cant find it anymore. I remember I could set the CPU speed betwee 1.6 or 2.5 ghz when plugged in or on batter. How do you open that control center ? If I use the search bar on windows 7 I can't find anything. Please help me thanks

    I'm using HP Pavilion dv-6c20us with A8-3520 APU. I bought it last July 2012 and I right away upgraded it with Windows 8 Pro. I tried it ran & it showed me an error not BSOD but something interrupted the Windows & it restarted it, Thank GOD nothing happened, but I wanted to try. Win 8 task manger shows every performance of your hw installed RAM, CPU & all. It looks like it does not work for Win 8.Have you tried on Win 8? On CPUid I did see higher speed but not on consistent basis.It doesnt work

    well, why boost the frequency in P6? P6 is an idle stage, isn't it?

    My friend has a Acer 5560G laptop w/ A6-3400M APU and HD 6650M GPU, I managed to set up his P1 state to 2.6Ghz using FID 24, DID 1 and 1.1375V Voltage and he could play games for 2hrs @90c max (COD 10 which uses 80-95% of CPU time, very intensive load). B0 isn't a big deal since it's just a boost which is used for a short period of time so 3.0Ghz and @1.2875V's not a problem.
    The OP here could also try P0 2.6-2.7Ghz (1.15-1.20V) to push it to bounder.
