Hey Robbie! Your great attitude and sheer enjoyment are contagious and I appreciate it! I've been going through a rough patch healthwise and I love watching your videos. Thanks bud
Hi mate, thank you so much for your kind words. It sounds like things are a bit heavy for you. I really hope that 2025 can be a much better year for you. 🙏🙏
Thanks mate. I'm feeling a special kind of freedom at the moment. I'm still a bit sore and slow, but can thankfully still do the things that I love. 👍👍
Hi Robbie, So good to see a flush of water livening up this magic looking creek. May you and your family have a great Xmas and best wishes for the New Year.👌👌👌
Robbie, how good was that first fish, lol. I’m excited too. That part of the street was truly flowing well mate, and bang the second fish hit. Great footage, Robbie. I loved it
Hey Robbie, I wouldn't worry about ya pronunciation of secateurs. You're an Aussie and you say Secateurs like every other Aussie! Keep up the great channel mate!
Great river but a struggle to hook up some days! Got a few though and they're probably going to be a good size by Autumn and you can come back and see how much they've grown
Easy fix to the Secateurs debate - - - Pruning Shears or Pruners for short :) I have to ask? Have you ever been doing a video like this one and someone has come along to see what at first appears to be a fisherman talking to himself? The expressions would be hilarious :) Those little Browns are truly beautiful.
Haha thanks Rob. I have a video where I catch 2 huge carp at once. All video I am talking really quietly because there were workers having their lunch break behind me. As soon as I landed the fish one of them said "well done mate". I looked around and didn't realise that I was performing to an audience. Haha 😂😂😂
Thanks so much mate. I usually slow down a little bit over Christmas. I will still be uploading regularly, but not quite as often no doubt. More so in January.
Sorry Robbie, what's rain? Annual average rainfall for SA (Adelaide) is about 550mm, to date we've had just 270mm! Glad to see you more mobile, nice session!
Thanks Frank. WOW you guys are really struggling over there. It was the same here but thankfully this rain that ruined cod opening also brought a huge amount of relief to a lot of people... And fish..
Hey Robbie just a heads up arboretum dam is fishing extremely well at the moment for big yellas i went out for an hour today with a jackall lipless crankbait and a rapala countodwn in rainbow trout and caught a bunch sp if your looking for a feed thats your spot
Hi mate, that's so awesome. I've been meaning to get down there for a while. I was hoping to get there before Christmas but that won't happen now I don't think.
Haha 😂😂 I revisited that comment and realised that it was a kid, and I think he meant cicadas but spelt it secaters. LOL It's cicadas that I'm pronouncing wrong. LOL
Robbie, do you find the larger trout swim downstream with the flow of water or upstream against the current? Where do the larger legal size trout live. I would love to catch a good legal pan size trout for once!
Hi mate, they swim different ways at different times of the year depending on environmental factors. The bigger fish are usually found in the deeper pools. 👍👍
Thanks mate, I love them all. Lures, fly and bait. I love them all equally and never look down on any form of fishing. I do have this earmarked for a fly fishing trip after Christmas though.
I'm going there for Christmas with my grandson and kids . Where is the best spot to fish there. Teaching my grandson to trout fish we watch Ur show all the time. My grandson is 5 yrs old he caught a 40cm trout for his first time. Here in pakenham Victoria on the school holidays.
Robbie, In these small creeks would your retrieve be on the slower side or quicker? I always notice that their is a lot of lateral movement in the rod tip, is that related to retrieve speed or are you imparting that action deliberately? As a suggestion, I think it would be very helpful to less experienced anglers if you spoke about and maybe got some footage of how fast or slow, and what action is imparted on the retrieve. You could do the same thing at larger waters, lake Buffalo etc. Just a thought.
Thanks mate that is an excellent suggestion. I try and do my best to make the soft plastic look like it's alive by imparting action into it. As for the speed well that is generally determined by the current. The faser the current the faster the retrieve.
@robbiefishing it was actually a really fun video to watch. I remember when I first started TH-cam fishing on my other channel. I looked so different then.
@TheBaldingPlebs Thanks mate. Haha I wonder what I will look like in another 10 years. I will almost be 60 and probably have a lot more grey hairs. Haha 😂😂
You know what? I re-visited the comments and I realised later that it was a kid and I think he meant cicadas. LOL 🤣 Whoops. He spelt it something like secaters.
Haha Catherine, it is common for me to not know how I will get back. LOL If all else fails I can walk back down the creek, but it's easier and quicker if I can find open ground.
I haven't seen you this excited in a while. Whatever tablets you're taking for sciatica - keep taking them. Hey you know when you're filming something you're good at, like for example fishing, and you seem to have a recurring issue, like fish getting off the hooks, and some numbat who knows next to nothing, possibly me, offers you free advice that sounds ridiculous??? I haven't seen you using a baitcaster reel for a while and I'm wondering if the combination of deliberately twitching the line and the spinner reel action is not giving you a natural tug to set the hooks/jigs? Or maybe I just want to see more baitcaster action. I'd go do some research meself but the Gilbert River is currently a metre wide by two metres long and three centimetres deep. There's not even mozzie larvae in it - I checked.
Haha thanks Bruce. It sounds very dry for you mate. I've been out casting baitcasters this week..I have a lure fishing video later in the week of me and my friend Sonny fishing with baitcasters. Baitcaster reels are not great for casting light lures. You can get ultralight baitcaster reels called BFS reels, but I don't have any. Generally speaking I use my baitcaster reels for cod and yellowbelly fishing, and spinning reels for smaller fish such as trout and redfin.. Because the river has been so high I have not been doing much lure fishing for cod. Hopefully that is about to change soon though.
Hey Robbie! Your great attitude and sheer enjoyment are contagious and I appreciate it! I've been going through a rough patch healthwise and I love watching your videos. Thanks bud

Great to see you out on a longer adventure again

Great to see you out n what a beautiful location. The sound of the water was lovely.Tight lines🇬🇧
Thank you so much Sheena. This was just a magical afternoon in so many ways.

Hi Robbie,

Thank you so much Bruce. I hope that you and your family also have a merry Christmas and Happy New Year too mate.
Love this video Robbie! Have a good day mate. Cheers 👍
Thanks so much mate, I hope you do too. 👍👍
You've got such lovely waters to enjoy there. They all have that remote look that doesn't hint at civilization nearby.
Thanks mate. I am thankful every single day for where I live.
Robbie, how good was that first fish, lol. I’m excited too. That part of the street was truly flowing well mate, and bang the second fish hit. Great footage, Robbie. I loved it
Thanks so much mate. This was such an awesome afternoon..perfect in every way.
That was awesome, good flow and really clear too 😁🎣
Thanks mate. It's a magicall spot that's for sure.
Hi Robbie, glad you had a fun day, and you can add another song to your repatoure ‘another fish gone, another fish gone, another fish got away’
Haha thanks Bruce. I sure can. Some days they just don't hook up. LOL 😂
Health is wealth great to see you up and down the river bank big man
Thanks so much Vincent. This trip was just so refreshing.
Yeah that’s a very nice spot mate lots of fish and looks so cool and yep that honk would have made you jump if it came cheers
Awesome session bro 😂😂😂😂
Thanks bro. 👍👍
Great video Robbie 👍 Nice Trout The creek near my place is flowing due to recent rain and the fishing has been great
Thanks mate, that is excellent news. Water brings life.
@robbiefishing it sure does

Great river but a struggle to hook up some days!

Thanks mate. That is my plan exactly. Haha 👍👍
Nice pruning & video.
Haha thanks mate.
Well we certainly do live in a beautiful country Robbie. Was thinking that maybe the fish are'nt really hungry, not hooking up.
Thanks mate. Yeah I was thinking the same thing.

Great video! I'm impressed! You got that fish over that branch. Are your boots snakebite proof?
Thanks mate. I reckon that between the gumboots, long pants and socks I would be quite safe from a snake bite.

Do you use waders or happy to get wet?
Hi mate, I never use waders. Horrible restrictive things they are. Haha 😂
Hi Robbie, long ago was this filmed? I was just wondering if the river will have dropped yet. Not that it seems to matter haha
Hi mate, this was filmed this time last week. Last Sunday afternoon. 👍👍
@ Thanks for the info 🤙
'That happened quickly!' (That's what she said!)
LOL

Do ya do surf fishing at all
No mate. I would like to some day though.
Hi robbie where do you recon is a good spot to put in a fishing kayak in the ovens River
Hi mate, you can put in anywhere that there is access. Sandbars are my favourite launching places.
@@robbiefishing thanks so much robbie❤️
