Good Video !!! I bought the Lift assist from O"Reilly aouto. Warranted for 1 year. Put it on and it worked just great!! When the tail gate drops down it moves slowely the last 80% of the drop, and when you lift up, it gives you a nice assist that makes the weight of the Tailgate seem about 40% less. Paid $17 for it. It was so easy to install that if it fails before 1 yr they will replace it. One thing to note about the install....you don't have to take off the clips as you did. You just push them up a bit then push the top and bottom holes over the rounded pin and it snaps into place. Taking the old one out you do the same in reverse, just lift the clips top and bottom with a screwdriver then pull the unit out.

thank you for answering, sorry for the misspelling, I should have read over before sending. Question do know anything about aftermarket struts that might fit onto a 2000 Tundra tailgate?
I have a 2006 Tundra and that tailgate has gotten to heavy for my 71 yr old young woman's back. I want some assist so I don't end up with a back meeting the floor.
I bought one off of Amazon…it came in a blue bag.. made in Mexico. Put it on same deal. So I’m sending it back to Amazon. Thanks

I change the subject and removed welding and stuff.
Not "lift". It's an opening assist.
