But they don't make it accessible with residency, bank, cars etc. Therefore I happily live in Dubai instead. :) With current policies, Dubai has more head room to grow IMO and could surpass Singapore in most aspects other than the rain forests.

When you asked me Singapore or U.A.E well I have been in both the countries this is my take out of my experience
When it comes to jobs for Software Engineers, Banking ,Telecommunications, Retail, Ecommerce and Technology - Singapore
Oil and Gas, Finance, Retail, Automobile, Construction, Sales - U.A.E
To interact with local community - Singapore you will easily have the opportunity to interact with local community.
In U.A.E the population of expat community is higher when compared to local community and its not that easy to approach a local unless you work in Government companies in U.A.E as of what I had experienced in 2016
    Education and Universities - Singapore
    Housing/Rentals - U.A.E
Owning a car and Driving Cars - U.A.E
Public transport and connectivity (MRT, Buses) - Singapore. You can easily manage with public transport and bicycle and don't need cars
PR/ Citizenship concept / Possibility to stay longer - Singapore
    Entry requirements easier - U.A.E
Food and Restaurants - U.A.E as you can find any kind of restaurant in U.A.E
Outdoor activities - Singapore. U.A.E possible during the winter months
Weather - Singapore U.A.E - November to February
    Nightlife - U.A.E, Singapore
Shopping malls - U.A.E because of Dubai mall Burj Khalifa, Festival City, Yas mall
Ultimately cannot get best of both places in one

    @caronridge6912 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Singapore used to be extremely easy to get PR on citizenship track until the 1990s. No more. Singapore doesn't need or want you. You need $300-million there (global investor), soon to be increased to $500-million, to be taken seriously in Singapore. We already have the founders of Facebook, Google, Dyson, Alibaba, and countless others. Here for the financial efficiency, privacy, comfort, safety, efficiency, prestige, security, and the low-key family-friendly lifestyle. When you're older and truly "wealthy" (at least 1-billion plus, like thousands of people here have YES), you do NOT want a party town & traffic. Dubai has a semi-dodgy financial reputation (weak KYC, AML, and accepts russian money), and with what I know is in the works in the West, most countries like that will find it difficult/impossible for anyone there to send money out. And the US is gonna ban converting crypto or crypto-sourced funds into USD before long in order to retain US financial hegemony. So bottom line is that Dubai is a Singapore-wannabe, but NGMI unless Dubai becomes an international financial center, which it's NOT on track for yet.

The biggest drawback for Singapore is the mandatory National Service (Military Service) on your future male children. A male, who obtained Singapore Permanent Residency/Citizenship, is not subject to NS but future generations of male children/grand children/great grandchildren/etc… will be subject to NS.

The biggest drawback with Dubai is that THERE IS NO RAIN. Three HUNDRED AND FIFTY bright sunny days EVERY year, one after another, can get HORRIBLY ennervating. Unfortunately there is nothing Dubai can do about this (or they actually would have - I'm serious !) Singapore has rain showers every other day, but relatively few 'rainy days' when it rains through the day, intermittently.

I don't like Singapore work culture. Asian parent ethics are still prevalent in Singapore

Both have very strict laws and aim to be futuristic cities not to say that they already are, that is the price of wealth strict laws but if you want a green city, quiet, amazing food Singapore but if you want a more ostentatious city with luxury everywhere and more popular choose Dubai. My country Ecuador has an enviable variety of biodiversity and landscapes very delicious food imagine if it had the skyscrapers, luxuries and green places all over its territory like Singapore and Dubai would be the most beautiful country in the world but today we are an insecure and underdeveloped country
