    Grave-robbing article www.thedailybeast.com/how-wou...
Elvis Aaron Presley[a] (January 8, 1935 - August 16, 1977) was an American singer and actor. Dubbed the "King of Rock and Roll", he is regarded as one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century. His energized interpretations of songs and sexually provocative performance style, combined with a singularly potent mix of influences across color lines during a transformative era in race relations, led him to both great success and initial controversy.
Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, and relocated to Memphis, Tennessee, with his family when he was 13 years old. His music career began there in 1954, recording at Sun Records with producer Sam Phillips, who wanted to bring the sound of African-American music to a wider audience. Presley, on rhythm acoustic guitar, and accompanied by lead guitarist Scotty Moore and bassist Bill Black, was a pioneer of rockabilly, an uptempo, backbeat-driven fusion of country music and rhythm and blues. In 1955, drummer D. J. Fontana joined to complete the lineup of Presley's classic quartet and RCA Victor acquired his contract in a deal arranged by Colonel Tom Parker, who would manage him for more than two decades. Presley's first RCA Victor single, "Heartbreak Hotel", was released in January 1956 and became a number-one hit in the United States. Within a year, RCA would sell ten million Presley singles. With a series of successful network television appearances and chart-topping records, Presley became the leading figure of the newly popular sound of rock and roll.
In November 1956, Presley made his film debut in Love Me Tender. Drafted into military service in 1958, Presley relaunched his recording career two years later with some of his most commercially successful work. He held few concerts, however, and guided by Parker, proceeded to devote much of the 1960s to making Hollywood films and soundtrack albums, most of them critically derided. In 1968, following a seven-year break from live performances, he returned to the stage in the acclaimed television comeback special Elvis, which led to an extended Las Vegas concert residency and a string of highly profitable tours. In 1973, Presley gave the first concert by a solo artist to be broadcast around the world, Aloha from Hawaii. Years of prescription drug abuse and unhealthy eating habits severely compromised his health, and he died suddenly in 1977 at his Graceland estate at the age of 42.
On the evening of Tuesday, August 16, 1977, Presley was scheduled to fly out of Memphis to begin another tour. That afternoon, Ginger Alden discovered him in an unresponsive state on a bathroom floor. According to her eyewitness account, "Elvis looked as if his entire body had completely frozen in a seated position while using the toilet and then had fallen forward, in that fixed position, directly in front of it. ... It was clear that, from the time whatever hit him to the moment he had landed on the floor, Elvis hadn't moved." Attempts to revive him failed, and his death was officially pronounced at 3:30 p.m. at the Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Presley's funeral was held at Graceland on Thursday, August 18. Outside the gates, a car plowed into a group of fans, killing two young women and critically injuring a third. About 80,000 people lined the processional route to Forest Hill Cemetery, where Presley was buried next to his mother. Within a few weeks, "Way Down" topped the country and UK singles chart. Following an attempt to steal Presley's body in late August, the remains of both Presley and his mother were exhumed and reburied in Graceland's Meditation Garden on October 2.

Elvis Presley, in his prime he was the sexiest, most gorgeous man to ever walk the earth. Boy, he was something. He could sing any genre too, from rock, to country to gospel. I guess that’s why he’ll always be known as the King of rock. 44 years later and his fanbase continues to grow with every generation. He deserved it all too.

I grew up in a house right behind Graceland. My grandmother was friends with his grandmother Minnie and knew the Presley family long before Elvis was famous. He was very nice and always gave the neighbors very nice Christmas presents. The day Elvis died was crazy. We knew something was going on because we saw an ambulance in front of the house around 3 pm. His Dad Vernon had a house near ours. My grandmother called him and he told us Elvis had died, so we knew even before it became public. My Mom was at work and I called her and told her. There was a lot of noise in the background and when she said "Elvis died " there was total silence. It took her 2 hours to get home, when it usually only took about 5 minutes. I know the funeral director at Forest Hill and she confirmed that someone really did try to steal his body. His Dad had to get special permission to have Elvis and his mother moved to Graceland.

I remember warching "KING CREOLE" with my Mother when I was 4 years old! From then on, I was a tremendous fan. There will never be another with all of the wonderful qualities that he had. He was SPECTACULAR, BEAUTIFUL, EXTREMELY TALENTED, GENEROUS TO A FAULT, HUMBLE, CHARISMATIC, AND A MAN OF TRUE FAITH IN GOD! Of course he was human and like us all, he made mistakes. But on the whole, he was as close to perfect as any human being could ever be! He was and always will be the KING OF ROCK AND ROLL! I LOVED HIM DEARLY!

Being in the funeral profession, it's always disheartening to see mausoleum buildings needing cleaning or repair. Generally, there are perpetual care funds to cover such work or the cities have funds set aside.
You can tell that it needs a serious power washing to remove much of the tree sap and crud. And...why is the door protector a bicycle cable lock? Seriously??🤦‍♂️

Hi Scotty. Loved watching this video as it was about Elvis and his mother’s burial place and also about you being there being so respectful as you always are. My two most favourite people being at one place and also that I was there too in 2018. My friend who worked at the souvenirs shops next to Graceland ( closed now) took me to the cemetery and I visited Gladys’s previous resting place and Elvis’s mausoleum. I have photos which I will show you someday soon. Hopefully sooner than later when we are allowed to visit America and Canada. Sean thinks it will be a highlight for him when he can visit Graceland with me and if we catch up with you will be the best. So happy you were able to go through the back door and sign the book too which I did too. Will keep watching for more of your Elvis videos to come. Thanks Scotty. As always much love from us. ❤️🤗✌🏼💕

Did you ever meet Shelly that works at Graceland? She is in charge of Elvis’s personal belongings. She is super nice. Elvis is a distant relative of mine. Our great-great grandmothers were sisters.🧸💗

I think some people have said that moseleum and the others have not been kept up and body fluids are leaking out of holes some places. Glad elvis was moved.

I already did see Elvis' first resting place as well as where Gladys was. I did go to Graceland twice in the early 80s. I took a great pic of Gladys monument. It has a green halo on it. Probably sunlight but errie

Elvis, his mom, and his daughter all passed when they were fairly young. Makes you wonder if there was a congenital health condition in the family line.

I saw him perform the year before he passed away. It was like daylight in the arena when he took the stage. Everyone took a photo with their flash cameras at the same time. The women were screaming, what an experience. He was too young to die. 💔
