Radar was a SWEETHEART!!!! I ALWAYS had the feeling that Gary was probably ALOT more like his Character than anyone realized!!!! MASH was NEVER the same after McClain Stephenson and Wayne Rogers left, and it REALLY NOSEDIVED after Gary left!!!!

My uncle, a real combat medic with the 7th Marines in the Korean War absolutely hated MASH. If someone turned it on he'd make a few angry comments and leave the room.
He probably didn't want to remember the war.
Nope, you couldn't get him to stop talking about it. MASH Tv program just didn't show it as it really was. He knew it was a TV comedy, he just didn't find anything funny about it because of what he experienced.

My very good friend is friends with Gary we live near by. He likes his art painting especially, he did not like Alan Alda he called him Grumpy I guess trying to be nice
