- After finding a nice little point on our first visit to a new creek late last Summer, Durwood and I decide to go back the following summer (2021) to see if anything else might be hiding in some of the gravel bars and rock beds along the water. To our surprise, we end up finding even more artifacts, including a handful of arrowheads and two Native American blades (knives). ~ Cody 'R.S.'

Thanks Lee! The knives and cache you found sound amazing! - 50 years of hunting is a long time. Bet you’ve got some awesome stuff in your collection.
Awesome finds!
Thanks Timothy!
Nice finds. Thanks for the ride.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
Great to see some nice finds coming up
Thanks! Hope you’re finding some nice stuff too. GL&HH!!!
Awesome!! What a great place. Congrats!
Thanks!!! It’s definitely a nice spot. Hopefully we can get back out there at some point and do some more searching.
The area deserves serious attention.. I agree with the comments... old site. Worth serious consideration! What a great day! And carry on gentleman and scholar's.
We totally agree! Hopefully we can get back down there next Spring and see if anything new has been laid down in the creek-bed. Thanks for watching!!!
Very Cool! Nice find.
Thanks-a-lot! 👍🏼
Sweet relic !!!
Thanks Digging Canuck!!!
Those are some awesome finds 👍👍👍
Thanks! We appreciate you watching.
You guys are some of the luckiest dudes in the world. You could go a lifetime without finding one nice blade, much less finding two in one day, I've found bigger and older, but you have the most beautiful. That one with the striations probably was believed to have magical powers and would have belonged to a medicine man or healer. Congratulations.
Thanks Vester! We definitely consider ourselves lucky for finding those, but as you probably know, most hunts never turn out like that one. There have been so many days where we hiked for miles without finding a single thing worth picking up. But that’s how it goes sometimes… Just gotta keep pounding the ground!
Super Great Hunt Guys!👍 Tan point looked like a Dalton! Rare
Thanks man! We were thinking it might be a Dalton, but weren’t 100% sure. Appreciate the info!
Awesome stuff guys, killer blades, the white point with the concave base definitely looks like a dalton greenbriar. A highly sought after artifact. Congrats guys, gave yall a sub
Thanks man! Appreciate the info. We’ll definitely check out your channel as well. Good luck on your hunts!!!
My hat is off to these guys great fines!
I know that creek!!! We need to go back! I still have my "Gandalf" walking stick!! Hahaha! Great vid guys!
“YOU SHALL NOT PASS!”… 🧙🏼♂️
J/K… Grab your stick and let’s go!!!
Could u give me coordinates?really looking to find some with my dad
I KNOW That creek but I will not mention it here
Awesome hunt boys!
Thanks man! Can’t wait to get out with you again soon.
Nice knife
Thanks!
Love them blades. I have looked all through Arkansas and Oklahoma. I’ve metal detected for over 38 years now, and my late father even longer and sold them as well. We save our detecting when it gets colder so the ticks and chiggers are gone. I also make Native American artifacts. Since I’m a Cherokee Nation citizen and direct descendant of Chief John Ross, I’d love to hunt Texas creeks again. I’ve been meaning to get me some Texas stone so I could knap some tools or blades. Good job
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed the hunt. Gotta love it when a blade turns up! - Hopefully you can get down to Texas to search some creeks and getcha some stone to work with. GL&HH!!!
Nice finds brothers👍🇺🇸
Thanks man! 👍🏼
That looks like a fun hunt! Congrats!
Thanks Bob! It was a fun hunt, but I think we’re all ready for some cooler weather so that we can grab the detectors and go pound the ground somewhere. Hope y’all are doing well. Let’s try to get together and do some digging this Fall / Winter!
@@DownSouthDiggers that would be great. Look forward to getting together!
Wow some rare types. The first seems to be a mid archaic dart point the second a cobbs knife made of rootbeer flint the third is a Dalton/ sanpatrice crosstype. The last is zebra patterned petrified wood. Texas has some cool stuff in the creeks good luck hunting!
Thanks for all the info on these! We’ve only been hunting points for a few years now and are still learning typology and identification. So it’s nice when others in the community share their knowledge and expertise with us. Hopefully we can find some more interesting or rare types this summer to show y’all. Until then, good luck & happy hunting!
Maaaan, l live in west Texas and have found 3 small knife blades and 1 partial multitool blade. Nothing like you have there. Those are NICE. REALLY NICE. I have found some pretty good points and manos (grind stones), but no large blades.
Yeah, we were shocked to find those. There’s been so many times we’ve gone out and spent all day searching, only to come back home empty-handed. Just goes to show that you’ve gotta get out there and keep pounding the ground. Because sooner or later, your efforts will be rewarded! GL&HH!!!
Congrats on some great finds! The fishtail point is a Dalton type, about 9000 years old. Both big blades are killer, and anything that size is rare in North Texas. That last blade may be intentionally altered to create a "spokeshave" on one side; see if it's chipped along the inside of the "break." Killer hunts, guys! Congrats again.
Thanks Lewis! We really appreciate the information. I’ll see if the ‘break’ is clean on the last blade, or if it looks like it’s been worked. I’m thinking that piece probably just broke off at some point on the journey down that creek. But anyway… Hope you’re doing well and finding some amazing artifacts. Good luck out there!!!
8:40 I thought Leon Redbone was dead. Cool yall went point hunting with him.
The 2nd large blade with the lines in it looks to be Alibates flint from the Texas panhandle. The smaller point is a Dalton. It could be palio into transitional period. All 3 pieces are probable late Paleo dating them back to at least 6,500 BC. Great finds! The creeks in the area you are hunting is know for a lot of paleo finds.
Thanks for the info on those Keven! Hopefully we can get back out to that creek this Summer and search for more.
Alright, artifact hunters from Texas! Fellow Texans! I've yet to find my 1st point or artifact, but I'm gonna subscribe and learn from you! The do's and don'ts! Where to go and what to look for! Thanks, Guys
Thanks for watching Roland! There are plenty of artifacts out there to be found, so just keep searching. If you’re patient and persistent, you’ll find some points. GL&HH!!!
Look for obsidian rock in areas it shouldn’t be in
Since water is life, look near or around creeks or rivers. Be aware of private property, some folks get testy.
Awesome points and video happy hunting I sub your channel.thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it! We appreciate you watching. GL&HH!!!
@@DownSouthDiggers your very welcome
Nice blade
Thanks man!
Doesn’t get that hot here in the U.K. but the soil does get like rock to dig. Roll on winter haha
Well, consider yourself lucky… Because last month, 27 of the 31 days in July were 100 degrees (or over) here in North Texas!… The AVERAGE high temp was actually 102.4! We also had 9 days at the end of June that were 100 or over, as well as these first three days of August, which means we’ve had 39 days so far of 100+. On top of that, I cannot even tell you the last time it rained… There were no recordable amounts last month at all.
So… Roll on Winter, indeed!
12:55 That blade is made from Kay County chert, that is crazy it has traveled that far. Stuff is found in limestone outcrops in Southern Kansas and Northern Oklahoma. If it is pink or red in hue, that means it was heat treated.
That is pretty crazy! Thanks for the info on that FlintGuy!
That last one looks like a Friendship Blade made by the Caddo Culture and the material is likely Kay County chert aka Florence 'A' chert. That was a very good day!
Thanks for the info Rodney! As you know, most days don’t turn out like that one. But every now and then, you get lucky. Appreciate you watching man!
Where in North Texas are y'all from? I am in North Texas too......Paradise.
Those are some awesome finds.
Heart breaker is right, that break looks fresh.
Yeah, that’s how it goes sometimes.
Elf bolts. 💘
Small white one was old. Some type of dalton or dalton variant
Yeah, that’s what other people have said too.
That first blade is a Cobbs Blade, tan point is a Dalton and the other blade is old, don't know type. I believe you have a Paleo site my friend.
Thanks for the info David! We’re certainly not experts on this stuff and really appreciate people like yourself who are willing to share their knowledge & expertise with us regarding the artifacts we find. Hopefully we can get back to this site in early Spring and see what else is hiding down in the creek bed!
Awesome finds, maybe the big guy is made of banded chert?
Maybe so. I’ll have to do a little more research on that. Thanks Aidan!
Was that a creek that tied into the river where y'all found the blades? If so, more than likely the camp is right there up on the ridge on either side of the creek. Nice finds!
Hmmm… 🤔 Might have to do some exploring up there then.
I was wondering if that last blade was actually made from tortoise shell..what do you all think.?
Almost to 30k views ! Whooooo doggie !
Yep… Kinda crazy!
At 6:55 looks like an Abasolo or possibly early triangular or maybe a kinney?
Thanks for the info John!
It's not broken,it's an effigie. That's under neith the animals neck area not a break.its nice. You will find alot of points have effigie in them.
That’s really interesting Timothy! What ‘animal’ do you think they were trying to represent when they made it?
😂😂
Greeting from metal Detector Bali Indonesia 🙏🥰
Hi Jejak! Thanks for watching our videos. Good luck on your digs over there! 🙏🏼
Dalton variety on the white atlatl dart point.
Thanks for the info! Other folks have mentioned the same thing.
How do you know if it’s from 1800s? I just threw a bunch of rusted knives from my backyard yesterday.
What county? that's pretty cool
I also know that creek, I also found a blade not quite that big at that same creek but I will not mention the name of that creature
Creek
That blade made to be mounted in a stick like a draw knife or gutting hook look for thinning flakes at an angle across the blade in the middle your fingers will fit across where the stick went when u used it the point was drawn toward you like when u stick a blade in a piece of wood and draw leather into it to cut just like that in reverse the edge that has the concave edge was the side doing the cutting and while still mounted has been touched up giving that concave profile!
I'm talking the next to the cooler blade!
The triangle looking one lot of times teardrop shaped cool knife
That’s great info Daniel. Thanks!
@@DownSouthDiggers your welcome sir after finding many of these and also tear drop shaped ones we pondered about its use and after realizing that all had been touched up on one side and the end and that all had the same intentional thinning across the middle they are kind of cool giving you the cutting blade which forces the leather in the junction of the stick and the blade like a hook knife and the bottom of the blade is exposed like a small flint celt for removing hides great finds guys!
You got wet creeks in summer, in your part of texas?
Not really. We’ve had almost no rain this summer.
Hard to tell maybe an Absolo blade. Maybe a Friday Knife.
Good info. Thanks!
Awesomeness..camera man should hold it for good showing...slighlty pointed away for view of flaking..
Thanks for the suggestion!… We’ll try to do that next time.
First point looks like Acatita, basalt?
I’ll have to research that one. Thanks!
GOOD PLACE TO HUNT ARROWHEADS I HUNT FOR MORE THAN 25 YEARS I LIKE THIS HOBBY
I bet you’ve found some cool stuff over the years. We like this hobby too! 👍🏼
That blade could have been made by natives around the time LaSalle missed New Orleans and landed in Texas around 1680.
Maybe so!… And that’s why it’s so cool to find this stuff… Because it really makes you wonder…
Gotta go to india to find indian artifacts.
Can I pay you to take me one day ? Lol 😏😔
LOL! Tell ya’ what… If we ever decide to take a small group out, I’ll make sure you’re at the top of the list!
I have Giant indian rock artifacts that are bigger.
Improve camera positioning. Extraction completely blocked by hand.
Noted!
Why not identify what you are finding for us novices?
Unfortunately, we are still novices too. We’ve only been hunting arrowheads for a few years now and are still learning how to identify all the different types and materials. Hopefully we’ll get better though as we keep finding stuff and making videos.
Someone say HONEYHOLE! Congrats 👏
LOL…Thank you!!! 🙏🏼
🍯🕳🤫
so is it a blade🤣
Yeah, sometimes we get a little ‘dumbstruck’ when we find something awesome. 🤣
As always enjoyed watching thanks for sharing and I'm new to your channel I gave you a Sub and also don't forget to check out my latest uploads you don't want to miss good luck and happy hunting 👍
Thanks for watching man! We’ll definitely check out some of your videos. GL&HH!!!
