My piano teacher from my childhood days would be turning in her grave. She really didn't like it when I discovered ragtime, and tried to persuade me away from it. She did let me play Debussy's now non-PC titled cakewalk though. I failed grade 8 under her . I passed it later with another teacher, whivh if I recall was the year said cakewalk came up on the syllabus (though I might have the two switched in my memory). Maple Leaf is still one of my go-to pieces, along with a lot of other ragtime.
I’m working on grade 6 at the moment, but assuming I can get to grade 8 before the new syllabus expires, this one is a hot contender! Thanks for the video.
