And a swing! There are tons of concert pianist's videos out there, where they place it at about the right tempo, but they sound rigid (classical players trying to play outside their genre). It's gotta bounce, and it's gotta swing...it's gotta sound fun!

This is one of the first songs I ever knew by heart as a child. I would stand holding on to the side of mom's baby grand and watch her play and was fascinated. I'd crawl underneath to see the pads hit the big coils of wire. She was born in 1905 and had me in 1951 and I was so fortunate to be given her love and vast knowledge of music. She could play anything from Mozart and Beethoven to stride boogie to When Rebecca Came From Mecca. If she was in the room with a piano there was an instant party. Jeannette lived to be a few months shy of 100, and I'm so grateful for the love of music that she gave to her 'old egg.'

Great to see that right foot PLANTED on the floor. Very light clean sound with no sustain pedal. A bit swinging and syncopated, I thought it was just right. I think that players who primarly play Chopin won't understand why you need a simple clean style to play rags. Also, a nice moderate tempo that seems just right. Beautiful.

And I told myself there is no way that i would be able to play it (because i had just started piano at that time). I started with the entertainer, and i was able to get the first section with no problem. I then started to take on the beast that’s maple leaf rag. I got through it in about 8-9 months. Im 13 now, and I can play it 1.5x tempo and blindfolded. So y’all dont give up if you are an aspiring pianist. Starting on easy winners (got the first section)

@@patootie3529 I've tried. I can read music but really can only play easy piano and sooooooooooo slow. Like everything turns into a church song. And I think there's things like timing and hand position that you need correction for. Idk

Hey, idk in which country you live, but there’s always someone out there willing to get some $$ by teaching. It doesn’t have to be costly. Churches usually offer classes, or if you’re not at ease with that option, try out looking for music lessons offered by universities or search on google for tutors. There’s a wide price range for lessons!

@@ElineSandes I'm not religious so I don't really have those connections. I could look around for a teacher and hope for a cheap one or a bored grandma lol. I should actually because I really love the piano.

I agree with you on playing this swung, I feel it makes it much more flowing and enjoyable. You play it well and not to fast and rushed. I aslo like Elite Syncopations played swung, have you ever played it like that? If not could you? It woule be nice to see it played 'proffesionally swung'!
    Thanks for posting!

Veramente una bella esecuzione. Una bella marcia complicata. Molto sostenuta e costante. Non é affatto formale. Emerson si è spinto leggermente per farci divertire.

A little more jazzy than probably what Scott Joplin intended, but very good. Cory plays the repeat of the second part 8va (an octave higher) than written. I approve!
