The E46 is show worthy. Ever since I saw it in person I can't stop thinking how beautiful it is. The car is mountains above a 0 mile brand new car. I have seen ALOT of clean cars but you really have outdone yourself with the E46. I couldn't bring myself to drive it looking that good.

Glad to see Morel making an appearance. I love my Virtus Nano Carbons in my 1977 Aussie Holden.
My preference for source/processing/amplification would have been the Sony RSX-GS9 with an Optical connection to something like an Audison APF8.9bit. That being said, I’ve never checked out the Porsche Classic and it’s connection abilities.

McIntosh MX406 or Pioneer 80PRS with the Audison you mentioned above, that's what I would've went with, and I don't like mismatched speakers, I would've went with a full set of, and while I know this guy and installer didn't want to intrude into the cabin or cut anything up with "pods" or custom fiberglass work, there's still ways to brace and baffle those speakers and components to get ideal response from them, and I have a feeling looking at those midrange graphs, those midbass and mid-range drivers are probably just cut into the stock paneling and attached, no sound deadening or anything lol. Definitely should've did his best to fit 6.5" midbass drivers instead of 5.25 though.

I just did the rear deck speakers in my e36 but I used jbl 6x9 speakers. Sounds great!

I have the vert so I used BAV sound and kept the OG amp to drive the front. Added a Carplay/Android Auto single din folding head unit. Then I have a new amp driving my two subwoofers (a 10-inch in the ski pass, and a 12-inch custom built into the trunk, removed the spare tire).

I’m not really sure the head unit is going to make the difference your guy is telling you. If the head unit can put out a clean and unaltered signal your DSP should do the rest. The Helix Dsp amps are far superior to the mosconi stuff and the software isn’t comparable. Id look there before the head unit personally

Things have come a long way since Audiomobile, Zapco, Alpine and Nakamichi car audio. We used to use only a spectrum analyzer to fine tune the system.

Make the surplus seats into swivel office chairs. I did it with seats from a Testarossa, looks cool and very comfortable!

Lots of holes cut, lots of money spent, not to impressive

If you really like the look of that head unit, use a Helix Dsp ultra with an HEC usb or Bluetooth stream and bypass the head unit. Going direct to the DSP is a much better way.
Tuning on the Helix is much easier as well. Using REW, you can set the target curve for each speaker and your crossover network, I.e. LR 24db slope (the sum is zero at the CO point). Then just import each target curve for each speaker and check the sums side to side and as a whole. Not sure why you always want to use the Mosconi DSP when there’s a much better system from the Germans lol.

Nice. I’ve installed several 90’s style audio systems in the E36 w/ 12” sub in spare wheel well. Did you cut the threaded rod that sticks up the center of the wheel well? Does the sub have an enclosure and did you have to drill any holes through the trunk bottom to secure it or is it just mounted on baffle? One thing that drivers me crazy is that 90% of the DSP’s only have graphic EQ. It’s nuts. I’d rather have 3 bands of parametric than 31 bands of graphic. In 2022 there’s only something like three manufacturers in the car audio world that have parametric.

What phone is this, I phone, or Android, and where can I get the software at to the mosconi, cause I can't find it.

Have you considered a Mosconi AMAS-LD4C option for wireless input from phone? Then it doesn’t matter what deck you use.

    • @Cleofizoid
      @Cleofizoid 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Yes, the Sony he's putting in source #1. Source #2 AMAS via fiber and finally, source #3 analog out of an Astell & Kern SP2000 DAP. Mosconi Aerospace 8to12 and PRO series amps would've been a better selection. But he was already laughing embarrassed at $13k, but then not satisfied with the sound? The Morel speakers seemed to be a compromise because of fitment. Why the hell are the tweeters and mids cut into the door!?! Should've done custom A pillars. I got a feeling, this system will be replaced before its over.

@@Cleofizoid yeah, I tend to agree. Either don’t do any visible mods and go with stock locations, or go with ideal locations and build something. But either way, I’m sure this setup should sound good once done.

I had a Sony RSX-GS9 and hated using the app to control it. The Pioneer P99RS is still the best head unit I’ve used and you can control the time alignment and active crossovers directly through the head unit. Unfortunately, the p99rs was discontinued a couple years ago or else I’d get another one!

Dude....no to the Sony crap, grab yourself a McIntosh MX406, at the very least, a Pioneer 80PRS..... and Audison is really what you wanted to go with for DSP and amping if you wanted it combined, but they sell separates. Definitely the McIntosh though, that'll give you the old-school look with all the voltage you need and the gold shielded chassis and everything lol.
