I didn't know that calling 911 while in a boat or a helicopter in GTA 4 would result in that hidden dialogue from Niko. Damn this game is still a gem after 12 years!
What I liked more about GTA 4 more than 5 was the explosion tolerance in cars, especially when it came to distance. In GTA 4 depending on the the distance and what part of the car is facing an explosion, the vehicles damage varies. In GTA 5 everything just explodes.
another detail in gta 4 is that the NPC´s have 2 styles of fight : bouncers or gangsters can hit you 3 or 4 times while some NPC´s like the cab driver cant fight at all they only throw one punch
Dwayne just wants someone he can be close to, instantly warmed to him & never believed any of Playboy X’s shit about him going insane or being a psychopath.
fun fact: when niko does special moves in hand combat he doesnt kill enemies, they wake up after some time even with the knife special move he punches the enemy and doesnt kill him
Yep, very similar to rdr2 in this aspect. Somethimes, if "kill" someone not hitting at its head, it might be alive, but very injuried on the ground. Many times I called the paramedics to rescue an officer that got down for the mafia or gangs during conflits.
Yeah, that's why head shooting the injured npc (or head shooting in general) in gta iv is very satisfying. While in gta v you can kill every npc simply by one shooting them on their feet, the feeling is kinda less when killing npc in gta v.
All the fight moves in game were done by Bas Rutten. You can search for him and gta IV and there is a video talking about his experience working on that part of the game and that in game tv show.
One thing, I was playing IV just now & noticed, and the reason I'm here... Was the fact when you exit a vehicle in IV, it stays running w/ the radio on too. You hold the exit button to exit & turn off the vehicle. I thought this was a nice touch! On V, they turn off completely each time you exit. I sooo wanted this feature back in, I love the little lifelike details of a game!
In gta 5 when you exit the vehicle in a rush, the motor stays running and so does the radio, but since we usually stop the car and get out, our character stops the engine before leaving. So GTA V is more realistic in that manner.
@@Sonilotos Also in GTAV if you hold down the exit button in a vehicle while it's moving slow enough you will stop the car and turn off the engine before exiting. At least I'm pretty sure about that feature.
I always found it dumb when people complain about the fact that gta 4 friends can call you anytime after a while, like you know there's a sleep mode right?
I thought that was the best part. It made it seem realistic. GTA Online, you keep getting spam called by someone for no reason but to tell you to go refill your weed factory or some bs lmao

@@rinkokonoe8644 Well, i always had fun meeting up at car meets, which inevitebly get blew up by a tryhard, and then the shooting is pretty fun. Honestly an underrated part of GTA IV. Being able to locate and kill the top 10 most wanted or a random crime added so much replayability, along with the drug wars in the ballad of gay Tony. Rockstar went into GTA 5 with the main focus on online and it shows. The single player is what I like the most in rockstars games and I’m sure I’m not alone. RDR2 gives me hope that rockstar will go back to putting more effort into single player for future titles
well opinion wise each gta on it's own should have something distinct so that you can comeback and play them I disliked that the ps3 version of gta 5 lacked the fps mode for example but other then that each game is it's own experience online should stay separate don't neglect the single player please
We all know the reason behind niko’s combat variety. It’s cuz he served the army and there in the army they will teach u a lot of combat moves.gta 5 Trevor also ‘served the country’ but he was an Air Force pilot. This is why there are a lot of combat moves in gat 4 than 5
There's just no excuse for the piss poor combat in GTA V, Cj was not a trained soldier in GTA SA and he could throw three bad thrown punches before any of the gta v characters could throw 1,I takes them a second and a half to throw a damn punch, they take time, impulse an everything and even then, the punch is weak and the response from the enemies terrible. They don't need to be trained to know how to throw a punch, they are violent people, they would know how to scrap.

Things I miss the most from gta iv: Fist fighting (can actually fight like we are trained fighter) Restaurant Some cars specially: Sentinel Super gt Turismo
Tbh i don't miss restaurants at all. They were cool additions but the fact I had to go far out of my way to find a restaurant or hotdog stand to replenish my health was pretty annoying, especially since there were very few stands and no restaurants on the third island
The only thing I would miss (if I played IV before V) is pool minigame. Fist fighting is better in IV, but it's only used in 1 main mission and couple of side missions. Also it was hard to fight on a street because cops apprehend you before you're done.
Admiral being replaced with Kuruma. Esperanto (not the North Yankton Police Car). More linear missions other than the ending. More player-executed executions. Cops N Crooks Mode. NRG-900. Nitrous upgrade on every street vehicles other than Arena Wars and Warstock Vehicles. Turismo. Restaurant to heal yourself. Friendship mechanics and special abilities.
Driving in GTA IV can be kinda tricky, the way physics work makes every turn unique, even by just a small change. Them bumps on the road will often force you to go slower or wider, or deliberately lean the car to a side to avoid it. Learning the driving in GTA IV feels like a blast, but it can get kinda annoying sometimes, not gonna lie.

@@TimSlee1 they're obviously exaggerating, but either way you still become wanted even with 1 star. You either get arrested at this point or try to escape and get shot at (2 stars) without reason
The biggest downfall of GTA V is there's no character diversity. GTA IV, every single character is unique... in GTA V, you could throw them all into a washing machine and pick out at a random one, doesn't matter, all the same. Long live GTA IV!

IV had more depth in Friendships, because friends will provide special benefits if their "like" percentage reaches 75% then they will call Niko to offer their particular ability. They'll constantly call the player on offers to go on outings in IV but in V, they'll never call the player, they can now only be called by the player. Plus, they don't even offer any special abilities. Activities with friends in IV are more enjoyable, especially bowling, and are not limited like in V.

One of the details I liked the most, simply because of how dumb and small it is, is that Niko will have a small voiceline if you call the friend you are hanging out with while in the same car
Another phone related detail in GTA 4 is that during the mission call and collect where you have to call someone to find his location, you actually hear two versions of his voice: One low quality and slightly delayed version from the the phone itself, and a real voice that get gradually louder the closer you are to him.

Speaking of hand combat. In GTA V you automatically get a 1 star wanted level after hitting two pedestrians regardless of your location. In GTA 4 it might take 3 or 4 people to trigger a police response based on your location.
In Red Dead Redemption you need a witness to report you which makes one on one fights more private when away from towns. GTA V if you jump out of a helicopter and parachute miles away from the crash you still get a star even though you have no witnesses.

I could even see places obviously designed for missions (the difference between "backdrop" locations and playable locations in gtav is criminally obvious), but they aren't used in any way in single (even though using them in side missions would literally be banal in terms of game production). the "real" GTAV is online, the "single player" is just a hackjob shoved there to dodge criticism to online only games and to release a game obviously unfinished to not delay the game again, a game that was obviously one whole year of production early...
