I've revisited this video about 4 times today. It is an incredible aong. That third chord is beautifully dissonant. The choreography is amazing. Can't wait to 👂the rest of the album.
I think Heart Attack is the Time of Dark of this album-the most multivalent and musically sophisticated. The structure is really straightforward and the melody benefits from a catchy hook-ook-ook, but what makes the whole track is the addition of strings and the undergirding harmonies that start around 2:57 to the break. This is music is emotionally compelling and structurally mature in all the best ways, and I'm really satisfied with the use of various timbres throughout the album to evoke different effects throughout this piece and the whole album (go listen if you haven't yet!). I'm THRILLED with this and with the new album in general.
Related, Colonizer has the most addictive beat and hook I've heard on a new album in a long time.

What a great idea to shoot in film, and the choreography had me in stitches!
so much about the modern world and technology makes me feel extremely alienated from my human-ness but man, Merrill is so genuine and feels so human and for some reason the way she utilizes technology in her music still feels so close to Life, as though its a tool rather than a separate reality. One of my favorite musicians.
It's easy to connect with your human-ness. People that feel "trapped" because of technology are just not-even-trying.

So stoked for the album... It's gonna be revolutionary.
The Tune-Yards are one of those rare bands that gives me hope for modern music.

This happened to me for Heart Attack, Look at your hands and Who are you. Unfortunately I really don't feel the other songs. Awesome and really honest lyrics throughout the whole album but musically it's pretty boring and/or annoying if you ask me. I really really miss the african vibes. I guess it's contradicting to the message of this album but Im really missing them lol, made me love all their work.
They're performing in my country in 2 months and because this album disappoints me so much I'm tending to pass on it :| Absolutely loved their first 2 albums tho and their 3d was ok but the show is gonna be pretty concentrated on this new album I'm afraid.
Honestly, this album is going to be one of the best of 2018 I can feel it. Keep this up, I am loving this new direction omg
