Esther first try was the most perfect clinch - superclose and wrapping the attackers free arm to prevent punches. I also like how the instructor fixed Justins magnificent hair after ragdolling him with it.
Some great technique here. Without training, I doubt anyone would think about the positive aspects of positioning themselves closer to their attacker. Most people try to distance themselves. It takes a lot of inner strength and confidence to control your own fear in order to properly defend yourself effectively. Well done, everyone.
i guess Im asking the wrong place but does anyone know of a method to get back into an instagram account..? I was dumb forgot the account password. I would love any tips you can offer me!
@Bruno August Thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and Im in the hacking process atm. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
I got out of a hair grab just in time because one of the people jumping me pulled out a knife and came at me. Im sharing this video it could save a life.

So sorry to hear that you were attacked. Not sure where you live but I would be happy to have you attend a free self defense class with our students if you’re ever in the Portland Oregon area.
I appreciate the theory behind this option. Few others show techniques from the head down position, even though it is achieved in split seconds by an attacker. Hair grabs are rarely taught in sports based martial arts, because "they aren't practical" (they aren't allowed in the ring). In a fight, people will use whatever they can to gain an upper hand. I think an important reflex to train is getting yanked backwards. This requires the extra steps of either spinning to face the Attacker or landing on the ground in a safe manner. Justin was a little too cooperative. He was being a classic uke, falling without sufficient force being applied...as when Esther threw him backwards. It is important to train, at least some of the time, with a highly resistive partner. That being said, even though both girls are small and thin, you can tell their body structure took the Attacker's balance.
Laura I agree with you. Just remember that self defense has nothing to do with fighting. Anyone that is attacking an innocent victim is a coward to begin with (and much worse). If you are defending yourself from such a person and pulling their hair will save your life.... I say go for it. Anything that works is okay to use in self defense.
Thats the problem with self defence, there are amazing instructors that know what they talk about like in this video, and then there are the ones Who think that you can easily punch your way out of hair grabs
Thanks for the videos! Good material! I have a question though! If you're tripping them, isn't there an instinct to also grab and drag the person down as well? Especially if I'm already grabbing the hair?
Hi Reuben. Thanks for the comment and question. First of all violence is a very complicated topic and way to complex to teach or learn just by watching these videos. There is no substitute for being trained by a qualified teacher. The main point I was trying to get a across in this video is to regain your balance and come in close so that you are in a good position to injure the attacker. I will try to answer your question the best I can. Yes there is a chance that you can get taken down by the attacker if you try to throw them and they continue to hold you. I have seen this happen before. Most of the time this can be avoided with proper form and technique. One thing to understand is that righting reflex kicks in when you are about to fall and your hand open in preparation to receive the ground. See how Justin reacts in 3:22. This is a standard human reflex that we are taking advantage of here.
Thanks for the comment and complement. I have to disagree with you on this. I don't think most attackers expect their victims to close in on them or fight back. They are usually cowards looking for easy prey.
At 3:46 when you had his head you could easily have punched his face 5 times and it was game over. Your showing what the person being hair pulled could do but not what the attacker could do, useless video
I'm not sure if you paused it right after that spot but it was immediately addressed after that point. He specifically pointed out the one concern was that hand that could do damage to you. The forearm into the groin was offered as a possible counter to that.

@Bruno August it did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much you saved my ass :D
@David Patrick no problem :D

Good, solid advice that opens up lots of instinctive targets. Nice
You are one of the VERY few ‘self defence’ channels, that actually teaches practical info.
Please keep them up
Excellent
Thank you very much! Very clear explanation.I wish I knew this before because I couldn't escape when somebody attacked me this way some time ago

Great info guys!
Hair pulling is the most cowardly fighting technique

There is no rule book to fighting sis get over it 🤷🏾♀️ I throw hands and I pull hair to get them on the ground. Fuck their hair, oh well 🤷🏾♀️
Laura i disagree, it IS cowardly, but not the MOST cowardly. Surely attacking from behind it more cowardly?
The next one would be biting.
Fighting isn't self-defense.
Hair pulls are brutal. I would suggest tying some Paracord or netting onto a boxing helmet and seeing how hard people get flung around. Great video.

Thank you for this! I will teach this to my daughter
Great. Hope it helps.
Get her into bjj and wrestling.

Thank you by far the best video 👏🏽👏🏽
Thank you sir this is a great help
Nice techniques. Most attackers (especially those that target women) expect the “victim” to close in on them.

Yes! Jeet Kune Do Philosophy at its finest, No limits! #WayofWaterArts ❤️💦 Great video Sir! 🤩👍🏽
GOOD VIDEO.
The quote from Gandhi was enough to get a sub from me.
Good content too though.
Thanks!
If you're strong enough couldn't you also just pick them up and slam them on their head?
Dupe Account whatever works!
not you playing classical music while someone is getting dragged xd
Could lead to a headlock from the hair grabber!
She kind of look like Emily Kinny
👍🏾
It's better if you're tall!
Kalooy buh oi.
never saw chicks like that in my class
Need to come to more classes then :)

No doubt those are great moves, but remember, only work if it the element of surprise,
