      @@d3vlabs I did the gps setting and the time still isn’t right. I think the only way to fix it is to always have cellular data hooked up or see if the factory wiring is wrong on the unit, good chance that it is but I haven’t really cared enough to take it back out yet.

    For anyone concerned about the time on the unit:- I had exactly the same issue with my Pioneer Double-Din I installed myself in my Civic. So it's not an issue with the HU itself, unless it's something to do with the battery backup etc.
    I'm almost certain it's a way the HU gets its power from the car.
    Getting an Eonon for my MPS (MS3) soonish, so good I saw this now, so that won't be different for me. 😅

    The reason your boot time is so long is because the system completely shuts down after the ignition is turned off. On some android radios you can set it to sleep once ignition is turned off so that way it simply just "Wakes up" when you turn the car back on.

      Might also be the reason clock doesn't stay set - check permanent battery power supply to unit?

    dude!....this is really a review

      Thanks for the feedback, I found the same problem when I was looking to buy this unit. No one really talked about the poor parts of it. I believe pointing these out really gives someone an idea of what to expect. I know some have high expectations when they spend $250+ but I see it as a cheaper option when compared to better brands, which can easily be twice the cost. To this day I’m still happy with mine.

    Is this screen location convenient for using the navigation system? I'm used to using my phone and I have it mounted to the right air vent above the radio, so it's significantly higher than where the radio is located. I simply can't visualize what it looks like with such a large screen and whether it's comfortable to glance at while driving.

    • @D_Spear
      @D_Spear  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh yes, the location of the radio is very nice location for navigation. I really didn’t even consider that being an issue but works great for me. FYI I use Apple Maps using CarPlay for navigation, can’t say I’ve used the radios built in gps.

    Hi, I would I appreciate some guidance. Just bought one for my Mazda and decided to install it myself after watching several videos. Everything seemed self explanatory and easy to follow.
    I ran into two issues:
    One, the steering wheel controls don’t work
    And secondly, there’s a (ghggggg) sound when I try to connect to CarPlay using the USB cable. I noticed that it stops if I turned the radio off/on.
    Any advice?

    How difficult was it installing the unit itself, plus the wiring for the front and rear cameras?

    • @D_Spear
      @D_Spear  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The head unit itself is all plug and play and pretty straight forward. The from camera is also plug and play and the only thing you have to do is tuck it behind some trim pieces. The rear camera does require some splicing, and again running a wire from the head unit to the rear of the car.

    It's definitely worth purchasing and modernizes the car especially since Mazda (even the most recent versions) have hilariously bad infotainment system.
    As long as you can use Android auto or Car Play these units change your car.
    I have the physical button version and think it's the better version. Not having a volume knob is a deal breaker.

    Some head units can connect to the internet automatically via Bluetooth. Some require you to manually activate your phone's WiFi hotspot. Mine connects straight to Bluetooth internet and that's what fixed the time issue for me. You just need to go to the Android settings and set the date/time option to "From network". It also has the option to set the date/time from GPS. Which should also automatically fix the time but for some reason that rarely works.

    Question do you need the extender link to have Apple car play or when I install the radio will it automatically go to Apple car play when I plug my phone in?

    • @D_Spear
      @D_Spear  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You do not need the extender link, that is just used to clean up the install. This model comes with a usb pig tail that just dangles, the manufacture suggest putting that pig tail inside the glove box, and I didn’t like that. Apple CarPlay works after you plug the iPhone in and go to the “phone link” app. Not sure why it’s not called Apple CarPlay on the radio but it’s legit 100% Apple CarPlay.

    I have the Eonon GA9463 (Not B) - which I fitted in my Mazdaspeed 3 hatch 2011 Gen2 in April 2020 and although like you, while I'm happy with some features others are as good as useless. The best thing is the unit has improved the sound quality of the Bose system that's standard with the Speed especially using a memory stick loaded up with a huge amount of MP3 files. The Sat nav in the eonon only works if you have the sim card accessory, which I have not bothered with - the only other way is to down load a map for your journey but I can't be bothered with all that, so I still use the Sat nav that came with the car, or my phone. I too have the forward camera but you have to switch it onto dvr record every time you start up the car, so I bought a separate dash cam unit that works automatically when you turn the ignition on. The rear reverse camera on mine is attached inside the car to the hatchback rear window plastic surround so alignment isn't a problem. The clock time was easy to adjust in the menu and stays adjusted but mine is the slightly earlier model. Considering the clunkiness of using many of the features I would not have bought this unit if I had been aware of all the things that I have pointed out. In fact I have a Mazda Protege daily (immaculate) and I bought a Chinese non branded head unit plus a fixing cage for $50 and it came with a reversing camera, it does the job nearly as well as the eonon, although it's a much cheaper build quality. The big plus with the Eonon is that it fits nicely into the dash and looks like it belongs in the car and playing music is excellent- but like you said, many of the features are poorly executed..

    Thanks for posting this informative video. I'm considering Eonon's new 8 inch version which sells for $339. It's similar to yours with volume buttons on the front. Yours don't work. But they tell me the volume buttons work but don't use them during driving. My steering wheel has no volume controls. I really don't want to stop the car each time to adjust volume. I think I should cancel my order. Do you think the buttons can be relied on while driving?

    • @D_Spear
      @D_Spear  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The volume buttons do work on my unit, I just don’t like using them because it’s kind of a pain to keep pressing the button while driving, I almost always use my steering wheel controls. Your volume buttons should work while driving, just probably distracting.

      You should not "loose" the LCD screen completely but a new radio might not be able to talk to the original LCD to show media information. I think that fuel consumption and everything else will still work. You can try to disconnect/remove your stock radio and see what kind of functionality you get left with. If you want to have the HU to talk to the LCD then you need to look for a HU that is specific to your Mazda model or one that has the appropriate adapter box.

    Just installed the GA9465B in my BMW the other day. I was happy with it for a day then started to get annoyed with it. It's super laggy. I have the same issue with the clock. Also installed the dashcam they gave me and the thing wont stop telling me of danger lane change. I turned the setting off numerous times but it keeps coming back on. Thankfully I got it from Amazon. Think I'm gonna send it back and get a Joying. It has 4gb of ram and 64gb storage. I think it will help with the lag.

    I have a BMW and the Eonon was next to impossible to install, didn't work, wouldn't connect to the internet therefore was totally useless. Customer service is terrible, they'll do everything they can to NOT give you a refund. Best advice is this....pay with a CC and attempt your install within a few days, any longer and the CC company won't back you up.
    Read the NUMEROUS reviews on the unit BEFORE purchasing, with BMW there are issues with the steering wheel controls/seat heater switches/internet connect is incredibly spotty(don't even bother if you use an iPhone). Even for the people who DO install it perfectly and it works the sound quality is not as good as the original sound system! DOn't take my word for it, read the reviews.
    I've been fighting with them for the past week, I didn't get it to work, removed the unit and reinstalled my original one and asked for a refund. They say they won't send me an RMA number till I send them a video of the install........I'm not gonna spend hours taking out my original unit then re-install a non-working one to make a video which I believe they'll 'use as evidence' that 'I' screwed up and therefore not be given a refund. I SO wish I had done more research on this company before spending nearly $500. The on board live OBD II wouldn't even connect, camera didn't connect, everything! What a joke.
    Even in this review the reviewer finds many annoying things, the unit is not ready for market, buggy and slow. You've been warned.

      Sorry to hear about all your issues, for me I’m willing to accept my problems because I only paid $230ish dollars for it and when compared to my stock radio, this has way more features. My expectation was set rather low, I would not pay $500 for these. Overall I’m still happy with mine.

    It then will ajust time itself when drive for little time so GPS gets in and finde the right time.
    So maybe urs will ajust itself too when u have drive little?
    But it will again change time when u have off it and next day start it again mayve not the day after but next depends.
    Mine change sometimes the day after or 2-3 dats after it was in wrong time again.
    But little drive it was vack on time.

I am getting a signal from the steering wheel but the unit will not recognise it. If I try select a model in factory settings it tells me "app not installed."
    BUT the BIGGEST letdown is Apple CarPlay. The volume of the native radio is loud enough to be obnoxious but when using CarPlay it is so low as to be useless.
    I purchased the unit direct from the company. The online "live chat" function always ends up like this
    "The line is busy right now, please leave your message, we will reply to you asap. Thanks."
    They do not reply to "support" emails and there is no phone number.
