It's really a relief to hear this. Just yesterday I was discussing about this topic with my spouse, and it seems you can't go on in life if you don't do what everybody else is doing. But I'm so glad to hear this, it's like a reminder that it's not wrong to choose the other path most people don't chose.

The good judgment comes much from the experience. And the experience comes much from a bad judgement. You kind of need the ladders, in firms, that the junior employees get experience - and the senior decision makers are with a good judgement.

While working for amazon, I was doing similar things! While opening warehouses in Germany, we were constantly negotiating with the local government to make separate arrangements to reduce the mandated “green space” aka GRZ so that amazon can have more building area in the plot than the green cover. Sometimes we managed to reduce the green cover from 40% of the plot to 20% and those actions really hurt me as to who I am. Later on i was obviously fired because I was so so demotivated to do the tasks that were given to me.

Even the term "fading" is a slippery slope. Having implemented and managed compliance and governance programs over-seeing multi-billion dollar revenue streams, I would say this is a good description of how collective mediocrity becomes systematized. The mentality "If I don't do it, someone else is" is baked into corporate culture in a way that escapes accountability, especially when legal frameworks inhibit ethical reasoning (i.e., most corporate law mandates good faith efforts to maximum stock holder value above all other considerations as a way to guarantee transparency). Niklas Luhman's Theory Social Systems has much to say on this point wherein error states or unethical conditions become the new normal. The call for "Good Leadership" is necessary but not sufficient to inhibit unethical and amoral decision-making and conduct. C level management often lacks the governance framework to do anything beyond choosing from frying pan or the fire. That said, what is also needed is training at every level. Much like we train for fire drills, CPR, disasters, incident response, etc.. we need to model the expectation of ethical behavior by training an employee to resist unethical behavior in contextual and relevant ways. When an organization has its people practice ethical responses, it signals to the employee and to disinterested 3rd parties that it expects and does not punish ethical decisions that inhibit or delay financial or performance outcomes. That is an example of "Good Leadership." Keep in mind how ineffective laws that depend on top down accountability, e.g. Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) laws have been over the years. Train people to make good decisions like we practice self defense moves and you've made a start. My $.02.

The system demands unethical behavior to stay with the competition. Leaders in the company won't matter cause they will be replaced by the shareholders with someone who will prioritize short term profits.

    • @tajammulsiddiq9880

If company only cares about short term profits then they are not looking at the big picture. Long term profits matters. Customers delighted when they receive complete information about a product that they are going to use. People nowadays are very much informed as compare to past. They are not just looking at the product but they also see the ethical behavior of these companies. And leader in the industry will be those who offers best quality product/service and also offer best ethical practices.

@@tajammulsiddiq9880 and short term profits is the main game. You can't survive these days following ethical behavior as the rules of the game require short term profits to satisfy quarterly profit goals to satisfy the shareholders. That's why the stock market keeps going up and up while wages stagnate and workers are treated like crap. Stakeholders have no input in any industry right now as a result of policies written and passed by the people running those industries....and our government.

    • @tajammulsiddiq9880

@@dabuss55 I don't agree that company couldn't survive because of following ethical practices. This is just an excuse. Yes profit margins are low in short run but if their product or services are exceptional then they will not be ignored by the market. Good products spread like a fire. They struggle in the short term but in long run they will get high profits. I understand that it happens most in pharmaceutical companies that drug is not approved by the regulatory authorities due to monopoly. But in other sectors ethical practices are rewarded.

When it backfires all the build up credit will be gone and you have to earn the trust again. When you're working with ethics the build up will be slower but steady so there is constant growth that will make a company eventually overtake it's competition. Especially in times of social media influences it is important to keep moving slowly but steady.

Companies that value intergrity, good quality service and takes care and allows its members to be heard. Always trust your gut. If it does not feel right, always think and use your best judgement. I hope your question above is just a question and you do not experience it first hard. Take care and wish you all the best!

Can someone shed any light on why the term has value in, say, a leadership discussion? No, it's called capitalism, making the most money with the least amount of cost. Ethical fading is baked into the capitalist system (not that this doesn't occur everywhere).

Companies should be responsible for recycling the packaging of their commercial products.
Consumer must demand such, and these product must carry a logo to confirm above
Today recycling effort are superficial, as packagings are not recycled instead they are send to 3rd world country (dumping ground)

There is a continuum between sociopathy and altruism. Some people will be abusive and covetous, no matter how good their circumstances. Others would be saints in the worst of situations and despite extreme provocation. Humanity is then pretty much spread across the spectrum, my guess is like a bell curve where most people chug along around the middle unless something happens to shift them off their centre. The sociopathic spectrum usually comprehends that if their violent, greedy, deceitful nature was known: they would be outed and boundaries put in place. So they look to camoflauge, wrap themselves in an aura of decency, put in place protections so they cannot be scrutinised and are outside the law. They are often experts at knowing what is and is not lawful. They will stay within the letter of the law, and then work out how to get their goodies. Examples, being grifting by politicians or campaign managers. Funds given in such and such a way, gifts of this value given to self or these family members.. But $100k undisclosed donation to undeclared trusts to pay for legal fees? That might not be legally described as grifting, but ethically it is grifting. The other tension is between the individual, group, and society. Running in tandem to how well the society is providing for and protecting its own and ensuring safe conduct, pricing and products. Problems happen when there is a disconnect between what is sustainable, ethical and honest: to what is unscrupulous, abusive and deceitful. This Ethical Fading TH-cam is a delight to witness. In learning processes it moves from the unconscious unknowning to the conscious known. People not knowing that they have a problem, to people understand the problem and implementing the solution(s). (Sometimes more than one solution is required, we are dealing with fractals. Drug price gouging is an obvious anathema, but there are parallels in other industries and dynamics that also need addressing.) The critical method to get from unconscious unknowing to conscious unknowing is vocabulary, dialogue, and communication. Remember (complex) post-traumatic stress disorder has developed as a diagnosis in only the last few decades. Once identified and understood from war veterans, the patterns became recognisable and understood e.g. hostage or domestic violence situations. Same with ethical fading. The unscrupulous with dismiss, seek to divert attention, say it does not relate to them or their problem (just like domestic violence perpetrators). The people who seek to thwart are probably benefiting - power, profit, or pleasure. They will be loud, sneaky, deceitful, corrupt (trying to create the loopholes), aggressive, posturing, bribing. All this conduct merely demonstrates their culpability. Humanity is capable of so much more than what these types have to offer. It is time to take the shackles of the righteous, and put boundaries on the unethical.Keep up the good work.

It's unethical to raise price on pharmaceutical products because some people who take certain medications regularly cannot afford to purchase them if a price rise happens. Otherwise it's just unethical how such medications actually exist because there are many ways to eleviate health issues besides taking commercial medications. People are used as products to keep the pharmaceutical companies active. If people actually educated themselves about what health means in a holistic manner they wouldn't need any type of commercial medication. Covid vaccines are a great example.

But probably the standards of curing should be higher, meaning payment ideally should be if the medicine actually cures... You can return your iPhone if it does not work, but not medicines... (

Raising prices solely on the SAME product for research not based on any other premise other than "we can so we will" is unethical.
