That’s such a cool way to disguise the design flaw
The design flaw being the length of her arm? Lol
It’s not a design flaw. Just movie magic.
Yeah like someone else said, no design flaw, just short arms lol
@@DarkAttack14design flaw as in someone in the process not realizing it won’t be possible for her to play that

For a second I thought you were talking about a B flat there, and was confused as to why it was unreachable but it was actually a B natural.
I probably could have clarified that
Anyhow, C is in 6, which is already far away. But I had to listen twice to realize the B was natural
Same
B flat is in first position and is reachable for anyone who can hold a trombone
Unless she has a f attachment trigger
"intentional for a reason"
is like "9 am in the morning"
Or "RPG game"
“intentional and for good reason” would have been better
atleast that lets you know it's just a youtube shorts creator (and not an ai software
Not to mention that every cut is intentional, even in a poorly made movie you can't really edit by accident. Even saying the cut had a good reason or something is a little obvious, especially for a studio like Pixar, especially in a masterpiece like Soul.
It is an interesting editing choice, but they should have said something like it's interesting for a reason you probably wouldn't expect.

I once knew a very short girl who played trombone and got the low notes by dropping the moving thingy (sry idk the right terms) down and catching it with her foot. She would kick it back up and keep playing. It was seriously cool.
Okay that sounds super hot.

It can be hard for us trombones, especially when we are a cartoon with too short of arms
this is so relatable. i am a cartoon myself and i have the same problem.
Slide 7 ☹️
7th position bro
Was once recording a song for a state level competition (my whole band) and MY SLIDE FELL OFF
I assumed it was due to the student trombone player being not fully grown yet
@@wlwgwlwgnomesarereal NECO ARC⁉️⁉️⁉️
I play trombone and I missed this lol I just don’t really pay attention to the slide movements
Me too ur good gang
Same here

Yes same
My young son just started trombone this week and he's confronted with the same challenge. He's trying real hard to persevere. But inside I have to admit I laughed when his slide fell off. 😅 I guess that's what us dads do.
Google “Extendabone” - that should do the trick
Depending on his arm's length (I'm short, so my arm-span isn't great), to reach 7th position, he'll have to rotate his chest toward the Trombone to get that extra length. This could work if he's having issues reaching 6th too, though he would need a trigger for 7th if that's the case.
It sounds like he discovered the 8th slide position.
Don't feel bad- I was the same way when I started!
Just knowing that a slide fell, I feel bad. It can be damaging and make the trombone unplayable. The slide must be perfectly parallel.
I missed that and I play trombone, that was very well hidden
Hear me out, use a trigger instead…
Edit: You can also lip the notes down if you don’t have a trigger, I use a straight horn in jazz and I have to play a low Eb for a section, so I just lip it flat, you can do the same thing on that partial right above if you need to.
Only some trombones have a trigger
Those are so expensive tho
Most middle schools have the trigger less one and some high schools have them
@@Franmdthat's why those starter trombones are so trash, they gotta cut corners somewhere
@@jonathandemiguel1458they do, even on the trigger ones when my friend got a brand new one the water valve fell off mid playing
"...Actually intentional for a reason."
When you gotta teach that word count...😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
It’s also a pretty good transition to how as she continues her music, he starts getting more and more interested.
I feel like a lot of people who play the trombone still wouldn’t have noticed that
“Hey do you play Trombone?”
“Only 4/7 of it while people are looking”
I play the trombone and missed this.
I love my tenor lol
I love trombone because the limit to how high or low you can play is determined mostly on your skill. This means you can go as high or as low as you can and it still can sound great. (Technical there is a lower range limit depending on how slowly your lips can vibrate/make a discernible tone)
Brass instrument In a nutshell ❤
Omg it's like me lmao I have an F attachment cause I can't reach 7th in concert set and I can just barely reach 6th in parade set 😭 I've dropped my slide once trying so I normally just stick to using the attachment for 6th and 7th
Dropping the slide is a bad experience...
This person gets it. F Trigger for the win.
Is the F attachment a trigger or no? I understand the pain of dropping your slide.
lol one time my concert band was a bit sloppy on this one piece, so our conductor organised a outside of school rehearsal on the weekend so we could catch up.
during sectionals, the bass trombone player accidentally dropped his slide while putting a mute in, the conductor was annoyed but he have him a second chance.
then he dropped it again, and the conductor was clearly not happy and said he needs to work on this.
then during a whole band rehearsal he did it again, and you could see his face fill with terror.
the conductor berated him.
then a little later my mute fell out.
then i tried another mute and it fell out.
then he berated both of us.
@@oliverdiamond6594 I'd be lying if I said that isn't funny.
Dude I play the trombone and I missed this, I just was happy to see a trombone
Same.
I'd like to see this movie.
Watch it! It's really good

9 months have passed. Have you seen it yet?
@@lucys2401 no I still need to watch it.
As someone who plays bass trombone with my middle school jazz band, I can confirm I didn’t notice this
I actually remembered this happening, and I pointed it out during the movie
As a trombone player, I can confirm that this is true.
Same.
As a trombone, i also confirm
They should have made it a trigger trombone. Then that problem is eliminated. I saw that and was confused but this is explanation makes sense.
Trombone superiority!!
i heard they wanted to make the animations/slide movements accurate, having a trigger prob makes it more difficult since they need to animate the thumb moving aswell as the rotor mechanism
Most students at that age aren't playing trigger trombones, nor are most jazz musicians.
Everything about this is a bit yuck. They could fix it with tricks, but why TF did they choose music that a person of that size could not play to start with in the first place?
I love design people being passionate about an Instrument or Music in General as i play Bass myself, keep going man! :D
Never noticed that, but yeah the B note always got me during my trombone days. Being pre-teen is not conducive to playing the slide. 😂
Soul was one of my favorite animated movies as it had a very deep underlying story
Yo that's Erik Griffin
It’s actually played by Andy Martin.

Me who plays trombone but still didn’t know about this: 💀
Trombone players who use a F attachment and don’t have this problem
👇
Lucky >:( I have to push the slide all the way down
I cut my finger once when I tried playing a b natural
always glad when you enjoy an ep of buffy, but was surprised you enjoyed this one. thought it was gonna be another ‘ted’ situation where you just sighed and rolled your eyes through the last bit when things really ramped up haha. great reaction, and great post-editing interlude. have really loved seeing your cordelia opinions evolve in particular
I started watching thisbyesturday after mcas in school bro and stopps at this part 😭
I play the trombone and totally noticed this. B flat, usually the first or second note trombonists learn is very easy since it’s 1st position (the position closest to you), while B natural is 7th position, fully extended slide position, right before it falls off but not quite yet. This only applies for normal octave because for higher octaves of B and B flat, there are way easier slide positions.
That's some really impressive attention to detail.
I watched this when it came out and started playing this year😂
They don't want the people watching the movie to see her arm split off of her body, to play those notes
I still have my Trombone in my room and I always assemble it and just play some good songs I learned during elementary and middle school, it's been a while since I played my trombone at the moment but from seeing this movie has a place in my heart as a trombone player 🥹
as a flute player, i can confirm that i’ve missed this and was paying attention to the flutes the whole time. 😂😂
I noticed that immediately while watching it in a band class lol
HELP HER ENTIRE ARM GOES TO THE BELL💀💀💀💀
Dude Soul literally opened my head to Disney trying to animate instruments
I just like how the end finish of the trombone went
Yeah when I watched soul I hadn’t started playing the trombone yet so I didn’t notice and now that you pointed it out now I noticed
As a trombonist I see this as an absolute win.
When I played trombone for band class I would use the very tips of my fingers when I had a hard time reaching a note. I honestly miss playing trombone.
Thank you for mentioning this I thought I was the only one who noticed this I’ve been playing trombone for three years
He looks like he got stung by a bee in the face.
bro i play trombone and i missed this
Kids in my middle school had to tie a shoestring form their wrist to the trombone slide to hit those low notes
I love your premiere!!!
I always thought that cut was unintentional for a reason
I can hardly hit those notes on my trombone either, lmao
Relatable, I always used my middlefingers tip to reach the 7th slide
It sounds like that one song: meanwhile: feel like sun on my skin
I love soul❤
As a trombone player, I appreciate this :) ❤
RESPECT ONG
Was either the only one who started to hear I’m so lonely at the end of it
Pans back to her who's know using her feet to reach those notes.
I am a trombone player (tenor ofc) and I missed this after watching this 5 times
I remember when I was in 5th grade and sturggled with that
I play trombone, and I can feel her pain just hearing those notes.
Also I should really actually watch Soul sometime.
when i played trombone and couldn’t reach, i would push it and use the tips of my fingers to snag the edge of the handle lol
We got to meet the performer who recorded the trombone part and he told a story of how they had 4-5 cameras on him so that the animators could make this as accurate as possible. Of course, the animators probably didn’t realize that note would be impossible for younger students, but I love the detail that went into animating this.
The way the kids played the instruments is so accurate to middle school band lmao
I used to play trombone. I didn't notice it at first but I did before you mentioned it
I used to play trombone I think if ur using a trombone with a trigger on it u can do those notes with out having to go all the way to 7th
“intentional for a reason” 💀
That's when you flick to fingertips
For a second there, I thought he said these nuts
As a trombonist, I definitely missed this
She's literally me when I was trying to play trombone years back. My arms were too small so it was so hard to play.
The shame i feeling being a trombone player and missing that is immense
I love trombone I got into this year in middle school
B natural moment
another reason why this is my favorite Pixar movie
I remember my arms not being long enough back in middle school to fully extend the slide, so I’d flick it out from my fingertips to the top of my foot with my leg extended out in front of me, and then tap the end of the slide back up to catch it back with my fingers 😂 that’s what happens when you were 5’1”-5’2” back in middle school
My friend played in soul she was one of the little souls
"Intentional for a reason" just over here saying the same thing twice
I play trombone but i did not realize that sound was 7th position till now
As a bass trombone I have two triggers for a reason so that’s why it’s great for people who don’t have long arms.
Bruh I literally play trombone and didn’t notice that 😅
Dude I literally stopped the short at the beginning just to watch soul again since I actually play trombone
I literally just finished it! It was amazing
These nutes? MORE LIKR DEZZNUTS
I remember trying to hit that in 6th grade and failing
Cool editing! I used to open my hand and hold the slide with my fingertips like a cigarette to reach 😂
Anyone with long arms who initially tried for the trumpet got the trombone
as a trombone player, I just noticed that before you pointed it out
*bones crack as arm extends*
I don't know how I missed this, and I play trombone
This is why I got a trigger trombone, small arms
Soul is my all time fav film!!
even though i play alto sax and not trombone i just wanna say that's genius asf
I love the amount of musicians in the comments.
Fun Fact, some trombones have a rotating stick detached to the handle of the slide to allow easier access to that section for shorter arm lengths.
i used to hit that note by throwing my slide and catching it with my foot. when it finished it kick it back and play as if it hadn't happened. only sometimes it would fly off 😅😅
When I had a peashooter those lower notes sucked. But with the trigger made it a lot easier. Even years after school I still have all my instruments
Bro I had do flick my finger out 😭
As someone who has not played trombone in 2 years, i can confirm. arm no streatchy like that
